The letter was from Rafael's brother. The brother wrote that Rafael couldn't stop talking about me after I left. That Rafael had asked him to write to me should anything happen to him because he was to be deployed in Desert Storm. Rafael died in the infirmary and wanted me to know that he had been a criminal, but after we met his life started to change.
...Before Eny could mutter a single word a text message arrived from her husband asking where she was. She lifted her portable device close to her face pressing the buttons the keypad with incredible dexterity. Her eyes were moist and she was obviously touched by Paulette's love story.
Her device glowed against her peaches & cream skin giving Eny the appearance of a mime against the dimness at Verrat's. It was almost dark outside. Neither of them spoke on the drive home but when they entered the house again Paulette began to break down.
Eny hugged and consoled her and the two held each other close for almost fifteen minutes. When Paulette calmed down, Eny said "I love you, you're so beautiful Paulette," and they suddenly began to kiss.
