I'm about to pull away from him, expecting him to want distance, but he surprises me by wrapping an arm around me and bringing me down with him until we're both resting on the mattress. It's such an intimate gesture and it completely takes me off guard. He kisses my cheek and holds me close as we just rest there, drinking in the silent calm.
