I watched a mix of emotions wash over Jamie's face as I pulled away from her, but in the end she smiled. She looked like she was about to move forward and kiss me again, but I stopped her. "It's late," I said. "Next time," I added.
"Right," Jamie said, "Next time." I turned and headed towards the front door without looking back at Jamie, but I sensed her following me. I opened the door and turned to see Jamie, illuminated now by the fluorescent lights in the hallway, her naked body glowing.
"Goodnight," I said, and turned to make the short walk back to my apartment.
"Goodnight," Jamie said, as she closed the door behind me.
