Nahkee made a face. 'Politics-yuck. I'll have plenty of time for that when I'm an old lady.'
Kamack chuckled. The little Middy was around 275 years old, but still thought of herself as a youngster. Middys usually lived about 600 years, which meant that soon Nahkee would have her children.
That was a life-altering event for the females. It was easy to tell if a Middy had had children or not-the ones who had were much calmer, quieter and more thoughtful. The biologists claimed it wasn't just psychological-they believed that child birth caused actual physical changes that affected behavior and attitude.
The younger Middys were more fun, but the parents were easier to deal with.
Nahkee giggled. 'You're not going to go see my mother like that, are you?'
For a moment, Kamack was puzzled, then realized the Middy girl was looking at his groin. He was so used to being aroused around her he hadn't even realized he was hard. The front of his loose, grey cotton pants tented out obviously.
He grinned and hooked an arm around the girl's waist, pulling her soft body against his. He cupped a tiny, fuzzy buttock with one hand and she squirmed in his arms.
'I don't know, sweet one. Am I?'
Nahkee giggled again and slipped to her knees, pulling his pants down in the same motion. He groaned with pleasure as she took him into her mouth.
Sex was one of the things that created the occasional conflict between the races. Estans were by nature monogamous and somewhat puritanical, while the Middys only sexual taboo was against anything painful. Plus, the little blue creatures were capable of having the equipment of either gender...and damn they were good!
Having an entire race of always naked, adorably cute, and often available and eager potential partners had tempted more than a few Estans to stray from a committed relationship. Even after all these years, the Middys seemed incapable of grasping the concepts of jealousy or possessiveness.
In addition, for Estans sex and sexuality tended to stir up a lot of strong emotions. They wanted a sexual encounter to *mean* something, where for Middys it was just...something you did.
Eat, sleep, play, dance, fuck-they followed their appetites and desires and didn't worry about the consequences, because for them there were no consequences.
Kamack knew better. He was fond of Nahkee, who was clever and curious, but he understood and accepted what she was.
And right at that moment, what she was was driving him insane with pleasure. He moaned and pumped his hips, thrusting into her sweet mouth. She had magically sprouted four tongues, and they fluttered and licked feather soft over every throbbing inch of his cock.
His eyes rolled back in his head as he shot his load down her throat, and she made contented purring sounds, nursing on his member until it slid limp and spent from her mouth.
'There!' she said, smiling. 'Now you can concentrate on your meeting.'
'You are an angel,' he panted.
She gave him a puzzled look. 'No silly, I'm a Middy.'
All he could do was laugh.

1500 YEARS AGO
'SO YOU see,' Captain Benj finished, 'why we are so worried about the future of this planet and your people-and why we think this plan is our safest option.'
The two Middy elders looked at one another. Their mouths moved in discussion, but no sounds emerged-they were using magic to mute their voices to everyone but each other.
Yreve sat quietly, watching the ancient creatures. 'Their life cycle is so odd,' she thought.
It took a Middy about twenty years to reach full adulthood. For the next 500+ years, very little would change. It was almost impossible to tell just by looking if a Middy was forty years old or four hundred.
But in the last thirty or forty years of their life, they aged rapidly. The two elders sitting across from her had fur that had faded from blue to battleship grey. They had very little power left-standing near each one was a youngster, one of a rotating group of volunteers that accompanied an elder each day as a helper-one of the very few social obligations the Middys had.
Jayada, the female, turned to the Estans and spoke, her voice a raspy whisper.
'You truly believe others may find us and try to exploit us.' It was a statement, not a question.
'We do,' the commander replied. 'The members of our planetary alliance are just beginning to truly explore this region of the galaxy. It's only a matter of time before you're discovered again.'
He frowned. 'And many of the races we know are far more inclined to conquest than we are.'
The male, called Jayfer, turned his gaze on the three Estans. The ancient wisdom in his black eyes was intimidating.
'The problem exists,' he said slowly. 'I can see how one of us, especially a youngster, could believe that helping one of these warlike people was the right thing to do.'
'So we remove the possibility, and the temptation,' Dwyerd said.
'If we're certain there's enough power to do it,' the commander added.
Jayfer nodded. 'There is more than enough.'
'Then we are in agreement.'
Two days later, nearly a thousand Middys, under the gentle supervision of the Estans, converged on a spot near the planets northern pole. They created a huge, jet-black slab, and the Middys poured power into it-the first time they had ever used an object to channel the magic.
They stabilized the planet's rotation, it's atmosphere, it's weather-all the things that were once the result of orbiting around a star, and being part of a planetary system. Estan scientists, helped by Middy observers, took careful readings and measurements of everything.
Other groups plotted their course. The Middys had created an astonishing telescope-far better than anything Estan science could have constructed.
Middys came and went from the monument, singing, playing, laughing in amazement at the new adventure. They turned it all into a huge game.
After four days, everything was ready. Her quiet voice magically reaching every ear, Jayada announced it was time. All the Middys present linked hands, their eyes closed in concentration.
And their planet gently broke from it's ancient orbit, heading out into the vastness of space.
Dwyerd nodded in satisfaction. 'No one will put in the effort to chase down a rogue planet. This place has no rare or precious minerals, nothing extraordinary that will show up on any readings.'
Captain Benj clapped the scientist on the shoulder. 'We're safe, then. Well done.'
