"I'm sorry," Brianna said softly.
"Hey, stuff happens, doesn't it?" Mary said with a shrug. "Who am I to throw stones? As long as you didn't do it out of spite towards me."
"I don't think so," Brianna said. "Maybe at first, but now - I really like him."
"Well, hope it all works out for you two," Mary smiled as she went back to the car, where a tall black man in a uniform was waiting with the door open for her. "If he gets hurt? Well, I guess what goes around comes around. See ya, Bree."
"Bye," Brianna whispered, tears welling in her eyes as the limo door closed. "Miss you."
