The humans in our field of view were scurrying around now. They were checking on each other and tending to the wounded from the battle that had occurred the day before. None of them were venturing out to check on the unexploded missile, nor where they paying much attention to the big black and brown cats that were watching them from the edge of the clearing.
We both looked at each other before proceeding on and for some reason I had a feeling that my new traveling companion knew as I did what had just happened, and what the black missiles meant. I had thoughts of transforming back to human form but was not sure what the other cat would do if I suddenly I became human.
We stood there staring at each other and from time to time our gaze turned to the humans milling about the stone structure. I closed my eyes and tried to run through all of the possibilities and it was then that I heard a voice addressing me from everywhere, and from nowhere. The voice called me by name to get my attention and as my name echoed through my mind I quickly checked my internal data port to see if I was receiving an external signal, but the voice was not coming through the data port.
I looked at my traveling companion and could see by her look that she too was disturbed by something as well. We stood side by side looking at each other as the deep male voice began to speak inside my head once again...
For the children of Annu to survive, the puma and the panther must walk together... the Darkness must be defeated this time or all is lost... your journey begins at the gate of the puma... the future I have shown you has not been written... yet...

Sheba and Technology
Sorry to hear that you are lost. Kitty can download Sheba as she is Galora Explorer One's Artificial Intelligence Unit (AIU). She is nothing more than a self aware program that can be installed on most devices with an advanced CPU. This information is all contained in the owner's manual which Kitty had implanted into her PDA back on Rontara.
Sheba can also be downloaded and installed in Kitty's PDA which is what you read about in this chapter. There are other ways to transfer or transport the Sheba AIU... you will learn of another in the next chapter.
There were no references to Sheba prior to Kitty and Sima's preparations to leave Galora.
I hope this cleared some things up for you.

was wondering
in this chapter as with the others i was a bit lost. one thing that i was wondering about was Kitty downloading Sheba to her tablet. how would she have been able to do that is this was in reference to chapter 1 and before her transformation on the island?more...
OK I get it now.
A dream sequence, probably a portentous one. It really seemed like a page of text was missing. I was not sure if there was a transmission Kitty was making or receiving. The transition was a bit odd. And yeah I remember that Kitty was in some fleet in the first chapter but it is a bit much to expect that we would remember the name 35 chapters and 3 years later. What was frustrating was not knowing if I was supposed to get what was going on, and I guess the answer is no, and that is OK. This is a long story after all and most of it is enjoyable, well written, and easy to follow without being dumbed down.more...
Disconnection Resolution
The key to understanding some of what is happening here can be found way back in Chapter 1 where the Shinawatra is first mentioned, and in Chapter 2 where "Orion 412" first appears in the story. Another hint is that just before the, "MAYDAY" sequence, Kitty cries herself to sleep... "sleep" is the key here... though this is much more than a dream sequence. Another key to what is happening, or has happened, or what is going to happen appears in the final paragraph of this chapter... I do not want to give too much away… I may have said too much here already...
I was sure that this chapter would cause some confusion, but as I have stated many times in replies to comments... things that do not seem important early on in the arc of the story will have meaning later on, and this chapter is just one of many setups for things to come later on. Perhaps it is best to consider this chapter a bit of a cliff hanger for something that is coming in the next chapter.

Disjointed
I've really enjoyed reading your story, however this chapter seems very disconnected when she tells the ship to begin recording. I get by the end that she had some kind of vision but there's no indication or her entering that sort of state unless I missed it. Otherwise, very enjoyable story thus far.more...
