Memoirs of Kitty Siam Ch. 50

It took a few minutes for the destroyer's commander to respond, and when he did he informed me that the Zetas were not to arrive for another day or so and that this sector's defense fleet was more than enough to counter the coming threat. I knew that in the moment of silence between my warning and his reply that he had contacted his superiors and relayed what I had just mentioned and that he was given the boast that he had just imparted to me. He added a threat that he would open fire on me in thirty seconds if I did not surrender. At that point I closed the channel and engaged the Koloth's cloaking system and vanished from his view and his sensors.

I made a hard turn to port, then swung around behind the destroyer and approached from the rear. I slowly moved forward until I was about at the mid point of its upper hull. I set course and speed to match his so I could follow along as he searched in vain to locate me. I had a bit of fun playing cat and mouse with him, but my main reason for hanging out above the destroyer was so that I could monitor the traffic coming through the primary communications node above and to the rear of the vessel's bridge.

There was a lot of traffic back and forth about my ware bouts, and even though their communications were encrypted, it was easy for the data system aboard the Koloth to decipher and translate what was being said. I suppose what I wanted to hear that the evacuation of the Epsilon system was underway and that the military would be standing by to provide cover while the base below was being evacuated, but that was not the case. The communications that I had intercepted included an order from the Central Command to offensively oppose the Zetas fleet while the politicians and flag officers were evacuated. This was not the plan that I had discussed with the Admiral and General. My plan offered them hope to live and fight another day with superior Annunaki weapons, but this plan was similar to a course of action from another human General that I had found in Kitty's memories... his name was George Armstrong Custer. This would truly be humanity's last stand.

All of the human's capital ships were in this sector, which was the first mistake that the humans had made, though I suppose that if you are going to make a stand it is best to have your big guns in the sector for the fight. I had to make a decision to fight or take flight. The humans were outgunned, out numbered, and were making one foolish decision after another. I had one ship, and being that my little Koloth was more powerful than anything the humans had, it was still only one ship and would not turn the tide of battle in favor of the humans. There was also the possibility of the humans opening fire on me and putting me in a position where I was taking fire from both fleets, of course that was unacceptable to me.

Once I understood what was about to happen in this sector and my sensors registered the energy spike in the neighboring sector that indicated a massage jump point had opened, it was time for me to set course for Annunaki space to meet up with Neko. Before I engaged the FTL drive for the first leg of my trip I left behind several cloaked probes to monitor the last gasp of the Earth race that called themselves human.
