"I wouldn't mind doing it again. I mean, if that client ever wants more photos."
"Oh, really." She took her eyes from the road long enough to shoot him a glance, tried to see if he was joking. He didn't look like he was joking. "And what if he doesn't?"
"I don't know," he said, in a tone that said he knew, but wasn't willing to say. A tone that meant yes.
And there it is, Melinda, she thought. You've opened the door. Now we'll have to find out what's on the other side.
"Well," she said. "I guess we'll just see."
