"I thought you liked me enough to."
"Well, at least you're being honest now," I said before taking a swig of the punch he brought me.
"Ew! What the hell kinda punch is this?"
"It's probably something old that the school just had lying around," he shrugged, but something was off in his response. His eyes shifted and he let out a curse. "Damn it," he said before rising from the table. "Dani, you gotta come with me. Now."
"Why?"
"Just trust me."
"Yeah right!" I stood up but wobbled. "Whoa."
"Danica. Are you all right?" Ryan's voice startled me.
"Where'd you come from?" He tried to stand me up, but I fell back over. I looked up, trying to find Dustin. I found his face, but his body wasn't attached. "What? What's going on?"
The strobe lights began to bleed together and dance in scattered rays throughout the room. "Ryan? Ryan!"
"Danica? What's wrong?"
I screamed. "Why is your head rolling on the floor!?! Ryan!"
"Quick! Somebody call an ambulance!" I heard Ryan yell. "I need you to focus, Danica."
"What? Ryan? I can't...What?" Blackness threatened to cover me, stealing Ryan's words from his mouth as he spoke them. I was able to make out a few of them: tell, he, did.
"The cup. Drink. Nasty."
"It's the drink!" was the last think I heard before darkness took me.
