Steven and I sat on the dock till late afternoon. We made our way up towards the house, stopping briefly to look back at the lake. I didn’t want to leave the serene setting. Steven sensed my feelings so we sat in the car for several minutes before heading back towards the city.
“I want you to stay with me tonight.” Steven said.
I willingly agreed. I didn’t want to go back to the apartment. I’d only dwell on the day’s events. I couldn’t change what had happened.
Frank and Jackie were at Steven’s home in Westfield when we arrived. Jackie offered to fix dinner. I wasn’t hungry but I ate, just to keep my strength up. After dinner, I stretched out on the couch in the livingroom. I put my head in Steven’s lap, gradually falling asleep.
