On Another World Ch. 05

"Master?" Ayl-lah asked, sounding groggy. She looked at me and smiled shyly. "Did I please thee, Master?"

"I kissed her lightly on the forehead and said. "Good enough, girl, good enough." I wasn't going to tell her that, by her customs, she had failed. Nor was I going to lie to her. After all, from my point of view she did okay. I couldn't really blame her for knocking herself out, could I? It was as Seq-qah said...she had just gotten a little carried away.

Ayl-lah was only the second virgin I had 'de-flowered' as the saying goes. The first was in my high school years back on Earth. The second, just a short time ago. I wasn't quite sure how I felt about that. Virgins never interested me as it did others. My philosophy was that, when I took a woman to my bed, I would rather she knew want she was doing in bed.

Ayl-lah sure made up for her lack of knowledge with her enthusiasm. That was, until she knocked herself out, I silently chucked to myself. It was actually a little bit funny.

After a few minutes, I drifted off to sleep. The last thing I remember was Seq-qah whispering in my mind. Sleep well, Master. I love thee.

In the morning, after a light breakfast, we repacked the wagons, hitched them up and made ready to start our journey again,

Then, with no warning, there was a blinding flash of light that I had witnessed twice before. When the ambient lighting returned to normal, all the others save Seq-qah seemed to be frozen in place. They had become like statues.

Directly in front of me stood two of the Olygard. I instinctively knew that neither was Thor. One of them was taller and easily more muscular. The other was...definitely female! Her large breasts and nicely curved hips would have certainly caught my interest...if I were a small grey alien. I found this rather surprising, as I has assumed that the Olygard were without separate genders as this kind of alien was portrayed in Earth science fiction.

Seq-qah ran to my side and held on to me as if her life depended on it. Master? She was clearly terrified.

Relax Seq-qah; I doubt that they are here to harm anyone.

They are the Grey Ones! Her mind fairly screamed at me.

The Olygard just stood there looking at us. After a moment, the female approached us. She gently touched Seq-qah on the cheek.

Seq-qah moaned softly and tightened her grip on me. Master? Her voice in my head had an odd quality to it.

The taller one spoke. "Greetings Dee-Ess. The time has come for us to speak."

"Again?" I asked.

"Again? Of what do you speak?"

"This is my second visit from you Olygard."

"That is not possible." The female said.

I suddenly was nearly overcome with desire. I had an almost irresistible need to tear her body suit off her and ravage her tiny body. The only thing holding me back was revulsion. I mean, she was an alien, an honest to goodness extraterrestrial. I stepped back and shook my head to clear it.

The male looked at me oddly for a moment, then cocked a smooth hairless brow and whispered harshly to female in a language I could not understand.

She remained totally motionless for a few short seconds, and then spoke again. The urges I felt before were now gone. "My apologies Dee-Ess. I have long had an interest in human sexuality. My voice was altered to elicit responses from the males of your species...but I digress. Who preceded us here?"

"He identified himself as Thor. He also told me that his actual name in unpronounceable to humans. How may address the two of you?"

"I am Týr in your language." The male said.

"And I am Njörun." The female added, and then continued, speaking to Týr. "This is unexpected and unfortunate."

Looking at me, Týr asked. "What did he say to you?"

I gave Týr a brief rundown on my conversation with Thor. I even included the part of the two factions and the apparent quarrel between them. I finished by saying. "I guess it would be safe to say that you and Thor are not from the same faction, eh?"

"Indeed, we are not!" Said Njörun. "And I do not believe that the name he gave you was his true name in your language."

"But why would he come here, pretending to be one of us? And why does he seem to be assisting Dee-Ess?" Týr asked rhetorically. Then he asked me. "Did you receive a delivery from us?"

I raised my right arm from my body so that they could see the Colt in the shoulder holster.

"Is it adequate?" Njörun asked me.

"Very...."

At that moment, Týr said to Njörun. "I am beginning to suspect that it may have been Orcus that preceded us here."

"Indeed." She said.

Seq-qah's voice entered my mind again. Master, of what do they speak? Art thou sure, there is no danger? What do they want of thee?

Njörun spoke directly to her. "There is indeed danger, Seq-qah. But not from us."

Stunned that Njörun could hear her thoughts, Seq-qah fell to her knees. "Forgive me, oh great one. It was not mine intent to offend thee."

"Relax little one." Njörun said. "We are not gods. We are an advanced race from another world...just as your master is."

"But my race is little more than savages living in caves compared to yours." I muttered in Týr's direction.

"Human humor is lost on my race, Dee-Ess...so I am unable to understand your sarcasm." He responded.

"No offence intended, Týr."

"Since I cannot understand sarcasm...none is taken."

So...why have you come to me then." I said in an attempt to get back on subject.

"Well, I am starting to believe that you already know of your mission here. At the risk of sounding cliché, you are here to save this world from a fate it does not deserve. This world and Qoo-jah." Said Týr.

"Both of them, huh?"

"Yes. Let me explain your situation this way. In some of the science fiction of your Earth, advanced races are forbidden the get involved with the lesser developed. I believe it's sometimes referred to as the prime directive, is it not?" I nodded. He continued. "Regrettably, some of our race believes this to be an antiquated and foolish law. Though, exactly why they've chosen to interfere is a mystery to the rest of us.

Suddenly, a thought came to my mind. "Would you by any chance, have been watching us?"

"No, we have not. There has been no need." Týr said.

Then...there was another blinding flash of light and Thor stood among us. He was pointing some kind of weapon at me.

Uh-oh, this is not good. I thought.

Then Thor said something I found rather baffling. To Týr and Njörun, he said in English, probably for my benefit. "We will no longer tolerate you interfering with our interference!"

Seq-qah let out a panicked scream. "Master!"

Without warning, before anyone else could move, Njörun pulled her weapon and fired. A pencil thin beam of green light struck Thor's chest. He started to cry out, but then melted into a pool of hot steaming liquid before my eyes.
