One Step at a Time

Her still-wet eyes were now locked on his. As she carefully studied them, her despair began melting away, replaced by a feeling of hope and warmth and even excitement.

"I...I'd like that too, Josh," she told him without taking her eyes off his. "I'd like that very much."

"Then I'd love to take you to dinner Saturday night," he told her smiling back.

"I'd love to be taken to dinner Saturday night," she replied now smiling brightly again.

"Okay, so...I'll pick you up around seven then," he said.

"I can't wait," she told him honestly unable to stop smiling.

The bell rang letting them know there was five minutes until class started again. He let go of her hand and said, "I guess I'll see you around."

"Yes. See you around," she repeated unable to stop looking at him.

When he walked out, she felt something she'd never felt as a man. She couldn't describe it because there was no parallel to relate it to. It was just the warmest, most wonderful feeling she'd ever experienced and in spite of quite possibly having just lost her only girlfriend, she may have just gotten herself her very first boyfriend.

After the campus was cleared out, Josh, who had been assigned to the bus loop each day after school as a safety monitor, came back inside. He knocked on Brooke's door and waited for her to look up. "Hey there," he said smiling at her.

"Oh, hi! What a pleasant surprise. Come in, please."

"I just realized I don't have your number or know where you live."

Brooke laughed and said, "Oh, well, that might make it difficult to pick me up, huh?"

She wrote her number on a yellow sticky then put her address below it and made a face.

"What's wrong?" he asked her.

"My handwriting," she said without explanation as she handed him the note.

"It looks fine to me," he said after looking at it.

It was legible but it looked like a man wrote it. One more thing to work on. Brooke sighed and reminded herself—one step at a time.

"Thanks," Brooke said. "Are we going someplace where I should wear a dress by any chance?" She hated asking because she didn't care if it was fast food. She just didn't want to show up at a very nice restaurants in jeans.

"I'm not a formal person, Brooke. Getting all dressed up means Dockers and a button-down shirt so I guess I should ask if that's okay with you first, right?"

She smiled sweetly and said, "I also don't care what you wear, but I don't want to feel over or underdressed, that's all."

"Being teachers, we're not exactly swimming in money so a fancy restaurant for me is The Outback. Does that sound okay?"

"It sounds wonderful," she told him truthfully. "And...I like the way you look in Dockers and a button-down shirt."

He smiled back and said, "Well, I like the way you look in a sweater and skirt," which was what she was wearing that day.

"Oh! Good to know," she said feeling happier than she could ever remember. She couldn't wait to call her mom that evening and tell her she was going on her first-ever date and who it was with. She felt like she might burst from the happiness welling up inside her.

"So...I'll see you tomorrow?"

"Yes, you will," he assured her.

Her mom had had to go into the den so her Brooke's father couldn't hear. "Honey, I am so happy for you! Tell me all about this boy, okay?"

Brooke told her mom everything she could think of and then talked about her impressions of him. "And he is just so handsome, Momma! I can't stop thinking about him!"

"Well, you deserve it, sweetheart. I hope you have an absolutely wonderful time!"

Just then, Brooke heard her father's voice. "Is that Brock on the phone?" he bellowed.

"No, it's...a girl I know."

"What? Who the hell do you know that you call sweetheart? You some kind of lesbian now or something?" he snorted before walking out.

"Sometimes," she said to Brooke.

"I know, Momma. I know."

"Well, don't you worry about my problems. I can take care of myself. All I care about is knowing my little girl is happy, okay?"

Brooke swallowed hard and said, "Thank you, Momma. I love you so much."

"I love you too, sweetie. You have a wonderful time, okay?"

"I will," she said before hanging up.

Brooke couldn't ever being so nervous about anything before. She looked through her entire wardrobe three times before finally deciding what to wear. She really wanted to wear a beautiful dress, but Josh's comment stuck in her head and more than anything she wanted to look pretty for him.

In the end she chose a very cute, iced-pink colored twin set and a short black skirt. It was probably a bit much for The Outback, but she also chose a pair of black shoes with three-inch heels just because. As she took a final look in the mirror, she was very pleased with her choice and hoped Josh would be, too.

Her heart raced as she realized that a man was on his way to pick her up and take her out on an actual date! While she was tempted to feel sad for having waited so long to transition, she chose to focus on the fact she'd finally done it and that her dreams were now beginning to come true.

The sound of the doorbell startled her even though she was expecting it. She checked her lipstick one more time, then made her way to the door. She took a deep breath then opened it.

"Josh! Hi, please come in," she said barely able to contain herself.

He pulled his arm from behind his back and handed her a bouquet of red roses. "These are for you," he said. "I wanted to show you you're more than just a friend to me."

Brooke felt tears welling up in her eyes again as she took them from him. "Oh, Josh. They're so beautiful," she said blinking furiously to avoid ruining her makeup.

He put his hands on her shoulders and said, "You're beautiful, Brooke."

Her eyes were darting back and forth as he stood less than a foot away from her. "Thank you," was all she was able to say as her throat was tight and her heart was racing.

She thought she might faint when he leaned down and softly kissed her on the lips. It didn't last more than a second, but it was by far the best kiss she'd ever experienced.

"You might want to put those in water," Josh said after she just there staring at him for several seconds.

"Oh. Right. Yes, um...let me see, I'm sure I have a vase somewhere around here." The truth was she didn't have one. She'd never been given flowers before and it was just one of those things she'd never thought of.

"I'll um...just put them in the refrigerator for now and I'll take care of them later." She looked over at Josh and said, "Thank you again, Josh. I love them!"

She came back to the living room which was only a few steps from the kitchen in her one-bedroom apartment and asked if he'd like something to drink.

"No, thanks. I'm good," he told her. "In fact, if you're ready, we can go ahead and head out."

"Oh, sure. Let me just grab my purse, okay?" she told him.

Josh offered her his arm on the way to his car and Brooke happily accepted it. He opened her door and said, "It isn't much, but it runs," referring to his modest means of transportation.

"It looks just fine to me," Brooke told him. She didn't care if it was a Cadillac or a Ford Escort. As long as Josh was the one driving it, that didn't matter.

They chatted about work on the way to dinner and then the topic of Homecoming came up.

"I'm still upset by the way Traci talked to you," he told her.

"She likes you, Josh. She's the one who told me about you on our first day. I think she's very unhappy that you're not giving her the attention she wants."

"Well, she's an attractive woman to be sure, but what she said makes me unable to see anything but what's inside."

"She means well," Brooke said trying to defend her only friend—if they were still friends.

"Then she needs to learn to show it better." He reached for her hand which Brooke gave him then smiled before saying, "Besides, you're prettier than she is and you're beautiful on the inside, as well. No offense to Traci, but she can't hold a candle next to you."

Brooke's heart was still racing as Josh said that while squeezing his hand. She looked over at him and said, "I've dreamed of you all my life."

"Oh, really?" he said with a smile, pretty sure he knew what she meant.

"Uh-huh. Kind, gentle, protective, caring..." He glanced over at him just as she said, "And gorgeous."

They spent just over an hour in the restaurant and Brooke couldn't ever remember meeting anyone so easy to talk to. He not only spoke to her honestly and in a very friendly way, he really listened to her. He paid attention. He made her feel like she was the most important person on earth.

On the way home, she told him that.

He reached for her hand again and said, "Outside of my mom, you are the most important person in the world to me, Brooke." He looked over at her briefly and said, "The first time I saw you—before I knew about, you know—I thought, 'That is the prettiest girl I've ever seen and someday I'm going to go out with her.' And here I am on a date with you."

"Thank you, but I'm the lucky one," she told him. "Traci was right, you know. You are a hottie!"

Josh laughed and told her, "Well, coming from one of the hottest women I've ever seen, that's quite a compliment."

Suddenly, Brooke had to know something. It came out of nowhere but it overpowered her.

"Josh? Do you really see me as a woman?" He went to answer, but Brooke stopped him. "No, wait. What I mean is...do you think of me like any other woman or am I, I dunno, some kind of...novelty?"

"Whoa!" he said. He quickly pulled into the right lane then pulled into a parking lot and stopped the car. He looked over at her and said, "Where is that coming from, Brooke?"

She could see the hurt in his eyes and said, "Josh, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean it like that. Like...like you don't really want to be with me for who I am. I just had this sick feeling that maybe I'm just...interesting because I'm, you know...unique."

He turned toward and said, "I know this is all new to you, Brooke. Hell, it's totally new for me. But let me say this just this one time. I don't know or care what kind of plumbing you've got or who you once were. All I care about is how you make me feel. I like you, Brooke. I like you a whole lot. I like...everything about you so far. Don't ruin it by asking me if I like you because you're different. Because you are different. Just not the way you think. You're different because you're not loud and pushy and arrogant. You're a very kind and caring person and I love being with you, okay?"

She didn't answer so he said again, "Okay?"

"Okay," she said very quietly. She looked at him and said, "Can you please forgive me?"

He could tell she was about to cry so he reached for her then leaned over and gently kissed her for several seconds. As he slowly pulled back, he asked, "Does that answer your question?"

"Uh-huh," she croaked barely able to speak.

He walked her to her door and thanked her for a great evening.

"I believe that's supposed to be my line," she said sweetly as she slipped her arms around his neck. "I had the most wonderful time tonight, Josh. Thank you."

She stood on her toes and kissed him this time. As she did, his strong arms embraced her and pulled her close, the kiss intensifying, tongues touching for the first time. "Mmmm. You're such a good kisser," she said happily when it ended.

"You're not so bad yourself," he told her before kissing her again.

"Would it be too much to ask you to come inside?" Brooke asked with raised eyebrows.

"I may not be able to be a perfect gentleman if I do," he said running his hand along her cheek.

"That's...perfectly all right with me," she said playing off of his words.

She unlocked the door and stepped inside then waited for him to close it and flip the lock.

"Would you like a drink?" she asked him.

"I would," he told her.

She brought him a beer and a glass of wine for herself.

"To new friendships," Josh suggested.

"I'll drink to that," Brooke said taking a small sip.

Josh took a swig then set the bottle down. Brooke almost laughed when she realized she needed coasters, another faux pax no woman would make.

He took her hand again and said, "I think about you all the time, Brooke. It's really crazy, you know? I've had girlfriends or hook ups for as long as I can remember, but I've never felt like this about any of them before." He brushed her short hair back from just over her eye and asked, "Does that make any sense?"

"I don't know," Brooke told him. "All I know is I think about you all the time, too. I watch the clock in the room all day just counting down the hours and minutes until you come in for lunch."

He smiled then said, "So we have something else in common." He stared at her for a few seconds then said, "I'm pretty much crazy about you, Brooke."

This time, when he leaned over and kissed her, she pulled him toward her. He slid closer and kissed her passionately. As he did, she let herself fall backwards pulling her handsome boyfriend with her. They kissed for a while and then Brook felt his hand on her breast. The feeling was...magical. It electrified her. It made her feel...complete as a woman.

"That feels so good," she moaned as he gently cupped it then squeezed. "I love that," she told him truthfully. It was such an amazing feeling; another thing for which she had no comparison as a male. It just felt so very nice.

As they kissed Brooke's hands reached for his shirt and her tiny fingers began unbuttoning it.

"Are you sure?" he asked.

"This isn't college," she said playfully. "You don't have to ask permission at every step. I want you, too, Josh. Please make love to me. Please?"

"Okay. Yes. Of course I'll make love to you. My God, you're so incredibly beautiful."

"Just...just one thing."

"What? Is something wrong, baby?" he asked.

"Maybe. I mean, I...well, when you said you don't care about 'plumbing', I still have...you know—a pipe. Down there."

"Are you saying you want me to snake your pipe?" he teased.

"What does that even mean?" Brooke asked trying not to laugh.

"I don't know," Josh said. "Is it supposed to mean something?"

"Josh? I just don't want you to see me and think...you know."

"No, I don't know, Brooke. And I really don't care. All of that...stuff...will take care of itself. For now, it doesn't matter. We'll figure out what needs snaked and what that means as we go. All I know is I want you. Not just now, but at school, and at home, and yes, in bed."

"Then let's move to the bedroom where we actually have a bed, okay?" she suggested.

Josh got up and offered Brooke his hand. "Come on," she said pulling him toward her room.

It took a while to figure out what worked and what didn't and Brooke's plumbing definitely no longer worked.

"How do I make you happy, sweetheart?" he asked her.

"You just did," she told him after hearing him call her that. "For now anyway, all that matters is that I can take care of you in at least two different ways." She reached for him and was rewarded with a large and growing...snake, the size of which she hadn't seen before.

This was another of so many things about which Brooke had fantasized for many years and now it was actually happening. She had a handsome man's cock in her hand and she reveled in feeling it. She stroked it gently the way she knew he'd like and almost salivated in anticipation of taking him into her mouth for the first time. She slid down his naked body and hovered over him before pulling his thick shaft toward her warm, waiting mouth. She smiled at him before turning her attention back to his beautiful cock then lowering her lips and mouth over the head before slowly sliding all the way down its length.

"Fffuck!" he groaned as his pretty girlfriend took him for the ride of his life. "You look so beautiful and that feels sooo good!"

Brooke cupped his large balls with her other hand as she continued to pleasure her lover with her lips and tongue. "You taste so good," she moaned during a short break for air. Brooke had never felt so right or so content in her life. While on some level she wished she already had the plumbing that matched her desired vision of her body, but for now, this was enough, and it was simply wonderful.

She closed her eyes briefly as she slid down his thick cock surveying every inch with her tongue, feeling the thick veins, the glans, and its girth. It was the most natural thing in the world and had been so worth waiting for. She bobbed up down using her hands and her mouth to pleasure her handsome lover until he could take no more.

"I'm getting ready to cum," he told her. "What would you like, honey?"

She let his cock pop out of her mouth and said, "I'd love for you to cum in mouth. Is that enough for you?"

"It's more than enough," he said. He was propped up on some pillows and just the sight of her sucking him off was enough to push him over the edge. The moment she took him back inside her mouth, his body tensed and he groaned loudly. "Fffuck!!" he grunted as a first long, hot stream shot into Brooke's mouth. She moaned softly as it splashed pleasantly against the roof of her mouth. She held on tight as a second and then a third and finally a fourth warm string of goo filled her mouth, the last shot hitting the back of her throat. She held him until he relaxed then lifted her head.

She watched him watch her open her mouth to display her reward before swallowing him completely. "You are so sexy, Brooke!" he said pulling her toward him. She loved how she felt so tiny and small and how it easy it was for Josh to move her wherever he pleased. She lay beside him with her hand on her chest, glowing with warmth and happiness.

"How do I take care of you now?" he asked with genuine concern.

"By doing exactly what you've been doing," she told him.

"But you didn't cum," he told her.

"I don't need to," she said. "In fact, I'm pretty sure I can't, but the truth is, I don't need or even want that. Someday, when everything is fixed...down there...I do want to be able to have amazing orgasms again. But for now, I'm so happy being a woman and having such a handsome boyfriend, I don't need anything else." She smiled at him, kissed him, then said, "Honest to goodness."

"Okay. I believe you, Brooke. But if you ever need more, just tell me, okay?"

"I will, but the more important issue is if you ever need more, you need to tell me, okay?"

Josh smiled and said, "You're trying to make me fall in love with you, aren't you?"

She ran her hand over his muscled chest and said very sweetly, "Is it working?"

From that day on, their relationship continued to grow. Each lunch break started and ended with a kiss as long as they were sure no students were watching. The two new lovers texted as often as they could and spent as many evenings together as they could along with many nights.

When Homecoming finally rolled around, the happy new couple arrived together to chaperone the dance. There were no serious behavioral issues with any students, but when Josh asked Brooke to dance the final slow dance of the evening, there were a lot of loud calls and applause. One of them was, "Get a room!" to which Josh said to Brooke, "That sounds like a great idea to me."

Around 2am, they checked into a very decent motel and it took them less than two minutes to undress each other. After another amazing 'oral performance' Josh said, "Is 'something more' still on the table, honey?"

"Of course," she said smiling happily.

Josh had brought a tube of lubrication and some condoms and after an awkward moment or two where two lovers were trying something for the first time, everything was in place just as it should be.

"I've obviously never done this before," Josh said after his fumbling.
