Will smirked. He suspected that Lucy would know exactly what got driven home after his meeting with Nelly.
After all, when she sent Nelly to William in the middle of the night, Lucy knew that the girl had already got in trouble, two summers back with a stable boy, and would have been turned out if not for Lucy's gracious intervention and mentorship.
She knew that Nelly liked the attention of boys and would never say no, to one so handsome and well-born as William. And she knew that Nelly would never breathe a word to another - of either her task or the ensuing rendezvous - for she would never risk the disappointment of the one who had saved her from the shame of a home for unwed mothers.
And Lucy knew that Will knew.
"Yes, Miss Shea... tell Madame that I send my deepest gratitude for her message, and that I will reply on the morrow."
He was dressed and back to the alley in under a minute - then out into the cold London night - revitalized with good drink, good fuck, and ready for the warm fire and down bed of his bachelor's quarters on Piccadilly.
