Platres Conclave Ch. 03

I went straight to my room, took a shower, feeling somehow variously dirty for what I'd seen, and I laid down on the bed, full length, in the nude. I hadn't locked the door. I waited for an hour for Nico to return to me. But then I had dozed off. In the middle of the night, I rose and wrapped myself in the cotton robe the hotel had provided and moved silently down the corridor to the door to Nico's room. I knocked quietly on the door. And then louder. But there was no response, no sign of stirring on the other side of the door.

I went back to my room and lay on the bed, and fidgeted myself to a restless sleep.
