Valdark had been one of Guthelm's key lieutenants. He had kept the wizards under control for many years, and had many other roles. Generally other henchmen, the Generals, had kept the soldiers and the nobles and the people under Guthelm's control. But Valdark, as much as any other Generals, could fall unless he found a protector.
