Prom Night

Annabelle graduated from school and eventually became a corporate lawyer.

She met and married a transgender man who understood her and could accept her sexual proclivities for what they were. Soon her appetite for prostituting herself diminished and she gave her spare time over to working with at-risk woman who were mostly former prostitutes.

Through a weird set of circumstance, she met Imani.

Annabelle could tell it was Imani from the tattoos, but her face was wider and rounder. She had been arrested on a solicitation charge. Her paperwork was all out of whack and Annabelle had found a half dozen ways to help Imani in only a short amount of time.

She set about completing the paperwork.

Imani didn't recognize Annabelle.

After she finished the work, she invited Imani to a nearby coffee shop and chatted with her. Imani seemed pleased to talk about her life. She talked about her family and said she considered herself an artist.

She said she only prostituted herself because she had to.

Annabelle perked up. "Why?"

Imani snorted and shook her head. She looked at Annabelle as if she were from another planet.

"Seasoned," Imani said flatly.

She sipped her coffee, then touched her fingers to her brow.

"You season a bitch right . . ." Imani lowered her chin, looking right into Annabelle's eyes. "She' gonna be a whore."
