Realms of Eden Book 03: Whirlwind

"Robert doesn't do it very often," the woman commented finishing her drink and signalling to the boys for two more.

"Hmm Sydney does it on request but usually there are too many hands in the way and too impatient to wait for it!" mused Kelsey. "But he more than makes up for it in other ways!"

"Do tell!" demanded Sandy.

"Later sweet thing," Kelsey murmured, "I have Thelma's vid with me so we can compare notes."

"Oh please don't talk about Thelma's night, Annie and I are so fucking jealous. I've creamed myself so many times watching it! Robert doesn't know we have a copy," the woman chortled.

The women eyed one another warmly but before anything further could be said the two men deposited fresh drinks on the table and sat back down.

"So how was the interview with the Women's View reporter, Sydney?" asked Robert.

Kelsey immediately started to giggle as Sydney tensed beside her.

Robert and Sandy looked from one to the other then Kelsey said in a rather posh voice. "Sydney darling won't you come out to my place next weekend and bonk me senseless in my boudoir."

"She didn't!" screeched Sandy stamping her feet on the floor in high amusement.

"No but she might as bloody well have," grumbled Sydney taking another swig on his drink.

Kelsey rubbed his neck and said, "It wasn't quite that bad but she did have 'Whirlwind' naked on her studio set!"

Robert sucked in his breath and waited. "Wardrobe failure! The bitch cut the straps with those fucking claws of hers!" complained Sydney returning with another drink.

Kelsey regaled the others with how Ms Maureen, as she insisted on being called, had asked 'Whirlwind' if he would model some of their major sponsor's beach wear for a photo spread. Producing amongst other things a cock sock as Kelsey called it but Sydney corrected her and said nude wear bag. Sandy's eyes glowed as Kelsey mimed putting his tackle into a sack and the strap going around his waist.

"Then the bitch stood behind me getting me to pose this way and that then the bloody thing came undone!" said Sydney laughing.

"Of course every camera in the studio just happens to go off at the same time!" laughed Kelsey.

Robert looked a little worried but Sydney and Kelsey certainly didn't seem upset. Kelsey said, "I told her if they came out in any magazine anywhere or published privately or electronically that I would take her little magazine off her and jam it up her arse.

"Of course mentioning the names Daintree and Simmons seemed to make her back down pretty quick!"

Sandy looked hard at Kelsey and said, "I know Thelma is a Daintree but who is the Simmons?"

Kelsey lifted her drink and toasted. "Here's to me, Kelsey Simmons, only child of multi-billionaire industrialist and scientist the late great Harry Simmons!"

Sydney's hand snapped out to catch the glass that Sandy had just let go of at the shock of learning Kelsey's heritage. Robert viewed the effort with surprise given the amount that Sydney had put away over the last hour or so. He had almost thought about asking his friend to slow down given that he was playing tomorrow.

Sydney saw his friend's look and grinned at him. "Beer is the only thing that gets me drunk, Robert."

Kelsey said, "Yep no good trying to get him drunk to take advantage of him. Jo and I tried it once and were sick for two more days while he tried his best to make us feel better."

Sydney smiled at the memory and Sandy wanted to know why they wanted to get him drunk when he would just fall on his back at the mention of sex. Sydney pretended to fall backwards and Sandy told him to behave.

"Long story that," said Kelsey, "better off told when we are all in bed together!" She finished with a chuckle.

Food arrived and after they finished eating Kelsey said that she had to go and do some communicating with her daughter and Thelma and that she would see them all tomorrow.

Sandy asked if it was alright for her to come along with her for a bit as she had some things to fill Thelma in on as well.

Robert and Sydney sat looking at one another. Sydney asked, "Want to make a bet my friend?"

"What would that be on and what would the reward be?" Robert replied with a chuckle.

"I'll bet that Sandy and Kelsey are comparing notes about us two right now. Sandy is going to tell you she wants you to try something new with her in the next couple of days."

Robert's eyes glinted in amusement. "Ok I will agree that they are probably comparing notes but there aint anything new that Sandy can teach me!"

"Loser has to do whatever the women want to do for the whole day on the rest day next week," Sydney challenged.

"You're on Matey," the men shook hands unaware that the two women had heard their bet and had turned to each other with wicked grins before scrambling up the stairs to the penthouse.

Ian Creighton banished them all to bed at 10:00 am. The grey haired coach nodded to Robert and Sydney sitting over in the far corner of the bar. He suggested that they find a bed themselves before too long as he sipped his rum and ginger beer talking to the two men while he did so.

Robert turned to Ian, "Have you and Ted finished the team selection yet?"

Ian's eyes twinkled as he said, "Except for twelfth man. It's a toss-up between Jason and Sydney."

He ducked as the young man playfully swung a fist at him. Laughing at his young opening batsman he then said, "Wicket keeper and opening bowler. Murray hasn't lost enough weight but I need Gareth to fire them up. He is the quickest we have on his day."

"Tough choice Ian," said Sydney, "but I would explain carefully to Murray because he is a good keeper. I would take Gareth and maybe play Peter D instead of Jared that way we do have another bowler if things don't go right."

"That may be a good call Syd," Ian mused. "Jared as twelfth man might just be the little attitude adjustment he needs. Bloody hell we don't need another Wilbur on our hands just now!"

He finished his drink. "Robert, don't try drinking with him he can't get pissed unless it is on beer and he hasn't touched one since we have been on tour!"

The two men wished him good night and continued to talk for short while before Robert got a message on his phone saying that someone was waiting for him in bed. He snickered and the two men made their way upstairs where Sydney wished Robert a pleasant evening and he continued up to the penthouse and Kelsey.

Kelsey was in a playful happy mood. As she lay naked on the bed watching Sydney undress, she rubbed her hands all over her body dipping into her sex and rubbing the fluids over her breasts as she got wetter and hotter.

Sydney noticed how intensely she watched his cock bobbing in time with his heartbeat and slowly began to stroke his swollen rod with his hand. Her eyes never left his groin and with teasing strokes he slowly let his orgasm build for her until in a husky voice he asked her where she wanted it.

Her tongue slid around her lips. Moving a little closer he let his first fierce spurt hit her lips then a second spray onto her neck then the final pump of his hand allowed a last strong spurt to hit her breasts.

She looked up at him and opened her mouth as he placed his cock on her tongue milking the last few drops. Opening her mouth wide she crammed as much of his cock as she could into her mouth before clamping her lips tight and slowly pulling back sucking the last of his cream out.

He looked down at her sperm covered breasts. Her lips and chin dripping with his fluids she raised her head to him for his kiss. His kiss was sweet as his tongue flicked out licking his semen into her mouth. He hissed slightly as she caught his tongue with her teeth while her hips bucked as she finished herself off.

Lying back on the bed she rubbed his cream into her nipples and flesh watching him with sleepy eyes as he lay beside her. Cuddling her to his chest he held her gently as they drifted off to sleep.

Morning found them languidly swimming in the pool where she bet him that no-one would be in the pool today. She won again as they emerged from the water at 7:00 am and she cheekily told him she would have to think of something appropriate.

The breakfast tables were quiet as the players waited for the announcement of the team. There were some disappointed faces as Ted Russell read out the starting eleven. Sydney noted that Murray King heartily congratulated Cliff Wilson while grabbing his stomach gripped the extra kilos around his belly and told his stand-in that he would be pushing him soon.

Jared Samson did not take the news of being twelfth man very well. Fortunately for him and the team he accepted that he was not quite in good enough form to start just yet but suggested that he would do whatever was required today if he was needed to field. Both Sydney and Robert exchanged glances at the man's not quite so convincing statement.

Peter Bond had only one other appointment to pass on and that was naming Sydney as his vice-captain with the departure of Wilbur Johnson. Faces around the room brightened with delight at the announcement. Many felt that the big batsman was destined to lead them to victory at some point in his career and were quietly pleased that their slightly aging captain had obviously picked his successor.

The journey to the ground was a quite rowdy affair as the team bus slowly passed thousands of green and gold banner waving spectators. Fans who roared and cheered as the bus stopped every couple of hundred metres to allow one of the team to wave out of the open door much to their delight.

Sydney was nervous but not exceedingly so. In the warm up before the toss he found that when he stood in the middle of the ground and let the waves of noise crash over and through him his nerves seemed to abate. Simon Hunter, his opening partner, gave him a slap on the back and thanked the big fella for not having to send him off to find some milk. Sydney almost collapsed with laughter.

Later he was chattering and joking with his teammates as they examined the wicket and found it not much changed from the day before. Ian Creighton had them doing some catching practice and he bounced and dived all over the place much to the delight of the crowd.

Things did not start well for the visiting team as Peter Bond lost the toss and the Kiwi captain had no hesitation in electing to bat. Sydney bucked the lads up with a fire up and get into them speech and went around clapping each one on the back saying a few words of encouragement to each one.

Sydney only had one problem and that was when he received his team shirt and found that instead of Douglas in the name space, his showed Whirlwind. He pointed this out the officials and they waved him away with, "No one would know who Douglas was!"

He grinned and shrugged his shoulders slipping the shirt on with inordinate pride.

Joe Donnelly opened the bowling and his first ball thudded into Cliff's gloves from just outside off stump. Sydney called back encouragement from his regular place at first slip. The next two balls were the same and Sydney observed the batsman closely and running down to the bowler with the ball said, "Quicksilver how about shoving this one right into his ribs! The bloke is as nervous as a virgin on her wedding night!" The big bowler nodded as he accepted the ball with a little grin at the word. Sydney patted Jason fielding at short leg on his way back to his position.

"Come on Quicksilver," he yelled as the big bowler turned at the top of his mark. The ball was brilliant. Rising quickly and the batsman barely got his gloves up in time, his head whipping back and away as the ball struck his gloves and dollied to the hands of a gleeful Jason Williams.

Peter Bond yelled as loudly as the rest of his teammates as they raced in to congratulate bowler and catcher. The team turned to Sydney and hugged him as one for his great bit of tactical thought.

Joe tried too hard on the next ball and the batsman whipped the leg side ball to the boundary well before a sluggish Gareth could move. The next ball was left alone outside of off stump. New Zealand 1 for 4.

Gareth ran into bowl and even Sydney could see his gut wobbling as he hit the crease and the man fired it so wide down leg side that Cliff couldn't reach it and it crashed into the hoardings for 4 wides. The next two balls were straighter but one was clipped for a couple down to Joe and then the Kiwi captain hooked the next one over the fence for six.

Peter looked at Sydney and they met just behind gully where Sydney suggested that maybe he should come round the wicket. Peter shrugged and said, "Might as well he's bowling shit so far."

As a tactical ploy the move was unsuccessful but at least the next four balls found the offside of the wicket as Gareth just threw his arm through the line and let the ball work through the angle and across the batsman. Sydney gave the big fella a pat on the back as he caught up to him on the way back to deep fine leg and said, "Head up mate it will get better, remember Kelsey!"

Joe's second over was a good one, straight and fast with only a couple of singles.

Sydney looked around the field and suggested to his skipper that a third slip might be worth it and signalled Jason to move from short leg into the position. Gareth steamed in and Sydney saw him straining hard and watched the ball fly off the bat straight to Jason who dropped the hard chance that came at an awkward height.

"Bad luck Gareth, Kelsey would be proud mate come on, come on!" yelled Sydney. Gareth's next ball was almost identical but this time the ball was snicked finer and Sydney pouched it easily screaming in delight as he threw the ball high into the air. Gareth was wonder-struck and Sydney did not try to avoid the big bowler's hug or wet kiss in his ear.

That was the highlight of the first ten overs as both Joe and Gareth struggled for line and length. The Kiwi batsmen, particularly their captain, pushed and deflected for runs at will. Their efforts were sprinkled with several wides and short balls that were despatched to the boundary.

By the time Mike Brennan came on to bowl the tenth over the Kiwis were well set with one over of the power play to go at 2 for 68. Mike's over was a maiden as he bowled stump to stump and Simon Hunter and Jason Williams fielded like demons in the covers and mid-wicket regions.

Peter Bond consulted with Sydney and asked whether to bowl Jason or Peter Donaldson. Sydney suggested that he use Peter D as Jason was fielding like a maniac and while he was on fire to leave him there. Peter's first ball was short and aimed at the right hand batsman's throat where he was lucky to get his bat up in time. Sydney watched in disbelief as Cliff Wilson took three quick sideways steps to his left and diving full stretch collected the catch in the tips of his gloved fingers.

Murray King, in the team rooms celebrated as heartily as anyone on the field. The overweight 'keeper turned to Ian with a huge grin on his face. "I would never have got there, but I will soon!" he declared.

The incoming batsman was a left hander and Sydney looked at Mike Brennan and signalled across him. Mike nodded from long leg and watched as Peter D got caned to all parts of the field with his inability to adjust his line.

Sydney took a wider position at slip now being the only one in the cordon and told Cliff that he had a fair gap now. Mike over pitched twice and the balls were only prevented in going to the boundary by the excellent fielding of Simon Hunter. Unfortunately the gutsy fielder had to concede the single from the second shot as it just got away from his grasp as his elbow hit the ground in his dive.

"Righto matey!" yelled Sydney. Mike Brennan looked for the spot on the wicket where he wanted it to pitch and was rewarded with the ball flying in the air towards Sydney's left.

Bloody hell he won't get there! he thought. His despair turned to stunned amazement when Sydney actually grabbed it with his left hand holding it aloft as he slid to a halt almost three metres from where he started.

Unfortunately Sydney had badly skinned his elbow and had no choice but to go off and get the wound attended. The treatment required as per the changes in the laws introduced 200 years ago to prevent contamination. He raced off the field to warm applause and up into the rooms for Dr Lock to attend to him.

Ian and Kelsey hugged his neck as the doctor cleansed and dressed his wound as he watched Mike Brennan steam into to rock the new batsman back with a short delivery.

Peter Bond had moved into the slips to cover Sydney who couldn't come back on until at least the end of the next over. He placed Jared Samson in his position at gully. He could do nothing but watch in disgust as the man made no attempt at a ball that flew past him at catchable height a metre and a half to his natural left hand.

Both Peter D and Peter Bond were screamingly furious at him in the next over when he dived after the ball was passed him. It made the already hard working Simon Hunter have to run past him to try to stop the boundary, to no avail. Samson then dropped a catch that came straight to him that inexplicably he wasn't even looking at as the ball smacked into his stomach.

"Huh oh Ian I think you might have to put some fines out for dropping catches and misfielding like that," said Kelsey whose furious face reflected that of the Australian team captain on the field.

Peter Bond banished the man to mid-off just on the inner ring and dispensed with the slip moving back into the gulley himself. Peter Donaldson said to himself, "Do not think of the ball going through the slips, pitch it right on middle!" He was astonished when the ball crashed through the batsman's defence and took middle stump out of the ground. Jubilation turned to screams of disbelief as the square leg umpire called "No ball."

Peter Bond looked around at his field and saw Samson looking sheepishly at his feet that were outside of the circle. Sydney stared hard at the man as he stood at the gate waiting to go back on the field. He had watched the substitute fielder walk backwards as Peter was running in and had deliberately stayed outside the ring. He turned to Ian and Ted in the viewing room and drew a finger across his throat.

Samson was grinning as he ran off the field but his grin soon disappeared when Sydney told him to keep running cunt your days with this team are finished! He gave the big man a one finger salute saying, "Make me fucking twelfth man!"

On arriving in the team room he was met by the fist of Robert Dinnane who slammed him against the wall of the dressing room knocking him unconscious.

There were very few highlights for the Aussies in the next 25 overs as the two Kiwi batsmen consolidated their early caution and began to hammer the attack at will to all parts of the field. Gareth tried his best in the batting power play but after two overs it was obvious that he did not have the energy to maintain any speed and was relegated to fine leg and deep mid-off for the duration.

With four overs to go the Black Caps were 4 for 289. Peter had no option but to bring back his two fast bowlers for the final overs and he prayed that they wouldn't end up chasing 350.

To some extent his prayers were answered firstly when the tiring Kiwi batsman tried to slam the ball in the air off Joe into Peter's own waiting hands. Then the very next ball Cliff pulled off another screamer high above his head as Joe fired in a quick short ball at the new batsman who got a top edge that would normally have gone to the boundary.

However, the catch of the day had to belong to Sydney off the very last ball of the innings.

Gareth was barely moving anywhere near his normal pace and Sydney was positioned at deep long on. The ball was pitched middle and leg and the batsman picked it up clean and was raising his hands to celebrate the six when somehow Sydney sprinted 5 or 6 metres to his right and leap into the air getting his outstretched right hand to it. The leap allowed Sydney to tap the ball back into the field of play. He managed to somersault backwards when he landed to catch the ball as it dropped keeping his hand off the boundary rope.
