On the last morning there it was just before six, the sun barely up, when I walked out onto the front porch. My mind started to wander back through the last year and a half—I felt stomach start to tighten up.

"Come back to bed," a voice whispered in my ear before I felt a warm set of lips on my neck. I turned around, smiled, slipped an arm around her and walked her back into our bedroom.

"You're going to have to be quiet, you know that, don't you?"

"Steve, we're all adults. It's not like they've never done it before.

"But what kid wants to know their parents are doing it in the next room?" I said softly.

"Let them suck it up. Thankfully we're still young enough to be doing it, and even if we weren't, I'd make enough noise so they thought we were."

"You know you're evil, don't you?" She licked my lips.

"Come on, let's wake up the kids," Mandy said, pushing me back on the bed.

"When did she become so vocal?" I thought, as she climaxed for the first time, her moans resonating off our bedroom walls. Something or someone must have flipped her switch. I just hoped it was me. A quick thought entered my mind and I smiled, "I wonder if Dawn still has those outfits?"

Some of the more recent comments make no sense to me. She cheated. Period. She had an emotional affair. She realized she was being unethical as a wife and as a professor and she didn't do the responsible thing. She did the opposite. She pursued the emotional affair. What she did is completely unacceptable.

It gets worse. She doubles down on terrible by dumping an enormous load of crap on her husband that he should never have had to deal with. She tells him she has feelings for the asshole! "I'm just telling you I'm confused. This has never happened to me before." No husband should ever hear this. This is total BS. This woman has misbehaved badly, had an affair (even if only emotional w/ a bit of physical), and wants to tell her husband about her feelings for the other guy!

Umm, no. Hell no! It's not his job, is never his job, to help his wife figure out her feelings for another man. EVER. They are married. She made a commitment. She should have honored it. She didn't. Sure, couples should communicate. But this is not that kind of subject. Because she should never be in this situation. His initial reaction is correct. She's incredibly stupid. What did she expect? That he would do a "pick me dance"? That he'd play psych counselor for her to work out her feelings for another man?! WTF.

Her approach to talk to him was so out of line, she deserved to have him drop divorce papers on her as a result.

This shows really well how different partners react to stress. Mandy was very level headed and understood that a problem was brewing and tried to reach out to Steve to talk. Steve on the other hand fell back into the role played and instilled by his dad which is not at all helping to resolve any problem.

Bottom line: it's easy to hold a grudge forever. But it takes real strength to forgive!

don't understand the comments siding with the wife blaming the husband. when you are married. dating outside of the marriage is cheating whether there is sex or not. 3 stars. have problems with how much of the blame was assigned to the husband.

Very well written and engaging, although a bit tedious at times. Good to see alive rekindled, and glowing even brighter than before. It could have been done perhaps a page or two less. However, the length did not hurt the telling of the tale. (Except for the tedious stretches.)

Still, a Five star effort that I could not put down.
