The next day, James left to go to the shop early. James' browed wrinkled, "A woman?" he just left Jade so it couldn't be her and he prayed it wasn't Deborah.

He opened the door to confirm what he already knew. There was Gale sitting in front of his desk, her foot tapping the ground and her arms crossed in front of her. It's amazing how much being a bitch can make a woman look so unattractive, he thought as he walked into the office.

"That's one of the advantages to having your own business; you make up your own hours."

"Well, I am so sorry to inconvenience you but normally people who want to speak with me make an appointment with me before bursting into my office." James said sarcastically which made Gale roll her eyes and push away from the chair.

"Anyway James, I have a proposition for you. What would it take for you to leave my sister alone?"

"Are you seriously asking me that?" James scoffed.

"Don't I look serious?"

"Gale, you hardly know me, what the hell do you have against me besides the fact that I was in the military?"

"It's the fact I know what kind man you are."

"You do, don't you?" he said crossing his hands on his lap.

"Yes I do, you like the civilian life so far because everything seems real easy when you first get out. As soon as there are hard times start, you get scared and run back to the one thing you know and that's the military."

"That's not true because I know plenty of men who have been in the military and enjoy being with their family so much that they stay with their families."

"But you have no family here. You have a couple of friends, a business..."

"And your sister; I know how much that just tears you up inside." James smiled.

Gale bit the inside of her mouth, trying to stay calm and relaxed, "You know, since you want to be honest with me that is exactly what I'm going to be with you. You are not good enough for my sister. "Are you really using the race thing? I really don't want to hear because I didn't look at Jade as anything but another woman." He said pushing out of his chair.

"Oh please, don't even go there with me. I know men like you and you can't tell me any different. It's not just the race thing, it's everything. You are not right for her. My sister is going places and you can't do anything but hold her back. With the right man, my sister can make sure everything that she ever wanted will come true for herself. Not to mention the fact that you were married and she's still around you. Who's to say that you won't go back to her?"

James's face began to turn red and his fist clenched to his side. Who did this bitch think she was dealing with? "I say that because last time I checked I do what the fuck I want to do and don't go by any type of little prejudgment you have for me. I don't know what guy screwed you over but you need to get over it. I'm sorry about what happened to your dad but sometimes that happens. I lived around that for years."

"That's right, you lived around it for years and you like that because that's all you know. You will go back when it gets harder for you. I don't just have this experience with my family it's been other families too. Do you really think you can live with just being a grease monkey around here? Having my sister support you? I won't stand for that."

He took a deep breath, "If you don't have a car, I need you to jump back on your broomstick and get the hell out." He said in a low menacing whisper.

"I see that I have overstayed my welcome." She walked past him and grabbed her purse, "I'm going to give you some friendly advice: just stay with your own, it will be a lot better." He heard the click of her heels farther and farther away from his door.

James stood in that same spot unmoved for a while. He had never been this angry before or been so tempted to hit a woman. She was a hell of a lot worst then Deborah ever was. He wasn't going to let her influence his feelings for Jade but having to deal with her was going to be hell. He knew he shouldn't let it get to him but it did. Some of things he heard before growing up from people around him, that he was nothing. Worthless. When he first met Deborah, her father told him that he was unworthy of his daughter. Not able to contain his emotions any longer, he picked up the chair and slammed it against the wall, shattering into little wooden pieces. He stood in the middle of the debris, his hands still gripping the remains of the chair in his hand.

"Boss?" Ramon knocked on the door before poking his head in the door, "Is everything okay? What's going on?"

"Just get me a new chair, Ramon." Ramon saw his shoulder's still tense and face bright red, so he didn't push it any further and walked out.

He wasn't ready to quit on his life, not now. He's been through hard times so there wasn't anything that could convince him to go back.

Gale knocked on the solid red door, waiting for him to finally open it. She swallowed, trying to look as inconspicuous as possible. She had just driven to his house after dropping off Nicole with Jade to do shopping or something. It didn't matter, she needed to get more information and chew out Dante for what he did to Jade.

"Gale, honey. Nice to see you here." She pushed into the house, walking past him.

"You have a lot of explaining to do, Dante. I'm building you up to be this great guy and you cheat on my sister. Are you serious?"

"Gale, I can explain. It was at my weak moments, but I'm better now. I know how much she means to me and I'm willing to do whatever it takes to get my girl back. I love her." Dante stated trying to look as sincere as possible.

"You better be on the up and up." She said putting her hands on her hips.

"Well, you know that you don't want that James with her right?" Gale took a huge swallow before nodding, "Okay, so what happened?"

"He's stubborn. Jade is in love with him and he doesn't want to budge. He may be in love with her too."

"Don't say that, he just likes banging her. You know what he is going to do to her. I just want her to be happy."

"Right," Gale heard behind him and saw a blonde woman standing there, "that's what we all want for everyone, but I do have a plan."

"Um, who are you?" Gale said staring at the woman up and down.

"Oh, Gale this is James' ex Deborah."

"Nice to meet you." Deborah waved, "Are you ready to hear it?"

A red flag immediately went up in Gale's

head when she learned who she was. Something about this whole plan with his ex-wife didn't sit right with especially when she heard it. A bad feeling settled in the pit of her stomach. No that was too devious.

"I don't know about this." Gale said, stepping back.

Dante saw her wavering a little and grabbed her hand, "Gale, think about it. I know that it sounds harsh but it make Jade realize that I am the right one for her."

"Would that really work? I mean that could drive her further away from you."

"No, it should push us further together because she will see that it happens and can come from anyone. We just need you to help by when we tell you that we are ready, you take Jade away for awhile. So, what do you say?" Jade nervously licked her lips as he outstretched his hand to her.

She looked between their two gleaming faces trying to settle that same nagging feeling. A part of her told her this didn't feel right, maybe Jade was happy with James. Maybe Gale was wrong, but then she thought about her mom crying every time dad said that he was going back to the army. She didn't want to see that for Jade. She needed to protect her. It was her job as her big sister. Right?

"I'm in." she whispered shaking Dante's hand.
