"I've got to go," she nearly stuttered.
"Fine," I sighed. "But I'll be here when you come back. I'm not going anyplace." She opened the door without looking at me and almost ran from the room.
The next few months were going to be interesting. I had a new boss to impress and a woman to win. I expected that Bethany was going to be the more difficult of the two tasks. So be it. I was up for the challenge.

Horseman68about 5 years agoLooking at the comments, it’s hard to believe that for a story this great there have been so few comments on this pivotal chapter. Maybe readers are just too anxious to get to the next chapter it is so good?
