I gave him no chance, dragging him from his bed naked with his grotesque stomach hanging out, and his small, laughable cock swinging as he moved to the window of the room. I pushed the wooden shutters open forcefully, as the cold night air hit us both. Karis's smile was gone, as he looked down at the fatal drop below, a four storey drop.
"I hope Rylar castrates you in the afterlife, for all the pain and suffering you caused those girls." I said simply as he looked frantically back and forth, from me to the drop below.
"No, don't do this! I'll pay you, don't do this sellsword!"
I said nothing, as I threw Karis out of the window pulling him by his greasy hair, and shoving him out with my hand on his naked back. There was screaming, as his fat frame 'flew' for a few short metres before his weight dragged him down and down, until I heard only the faint crashing of his body against the stone, brick walls below. I looked down out of the window, he was bent out of shape, but he was dead. His neck was broken, and he was dead. I stared down for a few moments, and still saw no movement. I finally turned and saw the open cupboard with Karis's keepsakes.
I looked at the wall of the room and saw what was known as an oil lamp, and I moved over to it to take it from the wall, and turned flinging it at the cupboard where it smashed and broke into pieces scattering oil and flame onto the cupboard. The flames grew, and the room was on fire from the bed to the cupboard. I didn't care anymore as I picked up my robe from the floor, and turned to leave the room and Karis's apartment knowing Taraa was safe and not inside. They must have had a second home somewhere in the city, where she slept as he slept here, enjoying his perverse pleasures.
I quietly left the building, through the same dark storage room I had come in through, and as I began to walk with the robe over me, and hood over my head I saw guards running past me, back to the council building. I took one glance over my shoulder, and saw the flames hadn't move from the top floor to the lower floors but all of the fourth floor's windows were smoking, and licks of flames were visible inside. The city guard would soon find Karis's dead body, when they did a search of the building and I didn't want to be in Kirkston when they found him.
As I made my way out of the unguarded gates of the city, towards the wood where Serass was hiding I saw her, and at the same time heard the sound of the city bells toll. It was either to signal that they had found Karis's body and thought the city was under attack, or it was to signal that there was a fire in the city.
Serass stepped out of the shrubbery of the wood, and looked at me with her red hair blowing in the winds that had grown in the night.
"Is he dead?"
I said nothing, and nodded as I stood next to her and gently placed my hand on her shoulder. She didn't' flinch, and looked up at me.
"He's dead. I found keepsakes he kept from the other girls, he says we'll never find them. He sold them onto slavers, then I killed him." I told her without any emotion in my voice.
Serass breathed hard, and nodded.
"Thank you."
I nodded, and we turned to leave as the bells of Kirkston tolled of death and destruction, that we left behind us both. We would run, and try to avoid being found by Taraa. She may not have ever been aware of Karis's deeds, but she would be looking for me and most probably Serass for justice; for her husband's killers.
It would be a long journey, be it to the far Northern shores of my home or to the southern lands and the Capital. We'd decide soon enough where we would go from here, when we were safely away from Kirkston.

Hope everyone has enjoyed this instalment of this story, please let me know what you think of it and what you liked, or disliked about it. For me this has been one of the better stories I have written, having gone more simple in terms of world-building, but adding more depth to characters and the world itself instead of adding too many characters to keep track of. Anyway all feedback, and comments are appreciated so please comment.

The reason why Koran didn't take the evidence to anyone is Karis is one of the most powerful men in Kirkston, and probably the North. There was no guarantee his wife would do anything, maybe she knew all along and let him have his fun.
Anyone who could give evidence against him was sold as slaves, and he couldn't really track them all down, plus Karis made it clear he wasn't going to tell him anything.
Finally he killed Karis, because he promised Serass - a blood oath, not to bring him to justice in terms of legal ramifications, but to kill him, and let her know his reign was over.
If you read on, I think you'll like where the story is heading, not in the direction of continuous drama with Karis's wife, but an even bigger scale of events.

Good but...
The ending of this chapter made little sense.
Why would he burn the evidence of the guy's prior victims? Why not tie him up and wait for his wife to return so she would see the evidence and know why he was killing him? Or formulate a way to make him confess to the other council members? At least if he could show the guy's wife what her husband was doing he could buy some time to torture him to find the whereabouts of the other girls...
I hope you didn't end the story this way just so the guy's wife had a reason to hunt him down to create 'fake' drama in the story.

Sellsword
I like the story but one thing didn't make a whole lot of sense. So he is a mercenary and he doesn't take sides but he ends up taking Serass' side right away. He makes an oath to the gods and what not about how he would help her. I don't know, I feel like I wouldn't get involved that quickly but this story isn't about me. Once again, great story!more...
Great story. Good writing .....3rd part is very much needed...
AThought.
I do not think that that fat pigs wife will know that it was the sellsword that killed him.
after all he was chasing after the girl who was being chased by fanatics.
