Sibling Rivalry Ch. 04

To say that Nicholas was looking stunned is an understatement. He began to stutter and move away from his wife as I walked towards them.

"Stop running from me, I swear this isn't going to hurt". I smiled at him.

I stopped right in front of him, pulling his head down to me and took his mouth in the most possessive, invasive kiss I could muster. I could feel him holding back, only the tip of his tongue grazed my mouth. It frustrated me.

My twin stood on the sidelines watching with what looked like morbid curiosity.

Seeming to realize what he was doing Nicholas pulled away from me, his hazel eyes were full of lust, fear, and confusion as his gaze shot over to Lena.

When she said nothing, his eyes narrowed on my face, and he pulled completely away from me.

"What the fuck is this?" he snarled at us both, but since I was closer I could feel the full impact of his words.

"Get the fuck out of my room" he told me. It felt like he'd slapped me.

"Nicholas" I begged him, not caring that my twin was witnessing and no doubt gloating in the face of her husband's rejection of me.

"Now" he roared not even looking at me, but staring at his wife.

***

As soon as her twin left Lena wanted her husband more than she had ever wanted him before. She walked over to him and placed her lips on his.

He pushed her away, "did you not just see your fucking sister kissing me?" he turned to go into the bathroom and slammed the door behind himself.

Yeah; Lena thought, she should act as if she were more affronted than she obviously was. Damn she laughed inwardly; she couldn't get enough of the pitiful look on Stacy's face when she found that Nicholas didn't want her.

As soon as Nicholas came out of the bathroom Lena said to him, "she's always wanted you and I told her if she thought she could have you then to try it. I knew you wouldn't go for it though."

"Is that right?" he scoffed at her.

"Yes" she continued though her confidence faltered a little at his tone.

"Let me tell you what I know Nicholas breathed, I know that you've been fucking Rusconi" he said of Gavin. Her mouth dropped open and she started to deny it.

"Do you think I'm stupid Lena?" He waited for her to answer and when she took too long he roared the question at her again. It made her jump but she answered him that he she did not believe he was stupid.

"Do you think a man can sit across from another man for three hours and not know they're fucking the same woman, when she's sitting right there?"

"Nicholas I—

The way that he looked at her made her shut her mouth without finishing her statement. Lena had never seen him look so enraged before. She feared that he could kill her if he wanted to but seemed to her to manage to contain his fury, even as he shot out questions about her relationship with Gavin that she felt compelled to be honest about.

He had dried off and had gotten completely dressed for bed by the time that he'd gotten all of the information out of her that she had to give.

"You can find somewhere else to sleep tonight." He told her.

"Where Nicholas, where am I supposed to sleep?" Lena snapped at him finding some of her inner confidence again.

"I don't know. Call Rucsconi for all I give a shit. Just get the hell out of here. I don't want to see you." He fluffed the pillows on his side of the bed before getting in. "And not just out of this room, get out of the house."

When Lena just stood there looking at him and wondering if he'd gone off the deep end or something he told her in the same tone that he'd used with her twin, to get out now.

***

Lena blindly stumbled down the stairs of her home and numbly walked to her car and got in. She had no place in mind to go so she just drove around until eventually the car headed in the direction of Gavin's home. She thought that she should probably call him first, in case he had company. She was surprised when he even picked up.

"What?" Gavin barked into the phone.

"I need to see you" she said in a thick and teary voice.

"I'm at the condo" he said hanging up on her.

When she made it to his door he held it open so that she could come inside. He wore the pants he'd had on earlier and nothing else.

"I can only assume that you're here all fucked up like this because your husband is enjoying your sister's pussy a little too much" Gavin said between clenched teeth.

Lena took a really deep breath that she held for almost too long; because she knew it would hurt to let it out, she hadn't even thought about her sister once Nicholas had started his attack on her. But then she remembered that he'd rejected Stacy and felt slightly comforted by that.

Gavin went into his bedroom and grabbed a blanket and pillow for Lena. He took them and dropped them on the couch where she sat. All she could do between her sobs and tears that would not stop running down her face was to squeak out a thank you. She didn't want to be alone tonight and though it was clear to her that Gavin no longer wanted her he wasn't going to deny her a place to sleep.

***

Nicholas lay in his bed and in the silence of his bedroom a long time unable to sleep. He was angry for a lot of reasons. Finally he got up and went to Stacy's room.

I lay in bed with the television watching me because I couldn't sleep. I had booked my flight and just waited for the hours to pass so that I could go to the airport and be back in my own home, never having to speak to or see my sister or Nicholas ever again, when Nicholas came into my room without knocking.

My body jerked up at seeing him and my heart stuttered in my chest as he came to sit on the end of the bed. He didn't speak for a while and when he finally did I found it hard to grasp what he was saying.

"I thought she was you" he told me.

"What do you mean?" My heart began its crazy beating out of my chest.

"The night that you left for your job interview in Arizona, Lena showed up at my door. She had on jeans and a sweater with sneakers and I thought that you had decided to not go after all, and that you were coming to me." He laughed sadly then continued.

"I didn't even give her the chance to say a word. I just picked her up and stripped her out of her clothes then took her hard against the inside of the door to my living room. I only found out later who she was and that she had come to see if she could stay at my place for a few days because one of her stalker ex boyfriends wouldn't stop harassing her."

I wanted to ask why he hadn't said anything to me afterwards and why he felt he had to marry her because of it.

He seemed to be able to read my mind as he said, "I was going to say something to her after I knew who she was but then she kissed me again and every brain cell I had flew right out of my head. I took her to my bed. After that I couldn't see anything but Lena. I wanted her with a desperation I'd never felt before."

I could believe that because hadn't I seen it with my own eyes, the way Gavin had forgotten about me in his effort to please Lena.

"And even after I had fallen for Lena I didn't stop...thinking of you." He finished. "So I don't really blame your sister for any of this." He hung his head and rubbed his forehead like he had a headache then his hand snaked around to the back of his neck and began rubbing there.

Like it was an afterthought he said, "I wanted to make love to you in my bedroom earlier and part of me still does, but if we do this there's no going back for me." He sighed heavily. His eyes lifted to my face.

We looked into each other's eyes and all I could see was the way I'd always felt for him. I wanted that now, to feel him inside of me. I wanted it with a hunger that had me leaning towards him for a kiss.

It seemed to happen in slow motion as I moved toward him and in the back of my mind I heard a dull buzzing sound but didn't fully recognize what it was until Nicholas picked up my cell phone from near the end of the bed where he sat and handed it to me.

I answered it thinking it could only be one person, Lena. I was surprised to find that it was Gavin instead.

"Your sister is here asleep on my couch." He told me.

"Is she okay?" I asked him getting up from the bed to walk around the room. I needed to get away from Nicholas's intense gaze.

"Yeah he said but that's not why I'm calling." His voice sounded strange and made my heart flutter just hearing it. I thought maybe I'd reacted that way because I'd been through so many emotions tonight and my nerves were frazzled.

"Is he there with you now?"Gavin asked me. Electric currents shocked their way through my body.

"Gavin I--"

"I want you." He said cutting me off. "I don't fucking want him to have you."

"Gavin", I whispered his name as if that could stop my feelings for him from erupting inside me, like lava from a volcano.

"Just, please think about it first before you do something that I'll regret." He sighed.

"What about Lena?" I heard myself asking.

"I'm not in love with Lena" he said making me gasp at the sincerity with which he spoke.

"Let me come pick you up, not to have sex. I just want you in my bed again with me, where you belong."

I couldn't think, I was so confused as I looked up into the face of the one man I'd truly loved for the longest and at the same time listened to the one I'd fallen for the night I'd met him plead for me to choose him.

"I'll just meet you there." I heard myself saying and hung up the phone as my heart raced inside my chest.

"You're going to be with him." Nicholas said. It wasn't a question.

"I need to be sure." I told him and knew it was for both our sakes.

He looked like he might say something but then he changed his mind and just left the room.

***

I drove to his home and Gavin was just pulling up when I got there. I didn't want to acknowledge the way that my heart kick-started at seeing him. He unlocked the door and then we went inside and upstairs to his bedroom.

He undressed down to his boxers and I pulled off my jeans and shoes but kept on my t-shirt and panties then followed him to the bed. We got in and he wrapped his arms around me like he did every night that we fell asleep together. It felt right, so right but I also couldn't stop thinking about Nicholas, and everything that we'd said to each other tonight, the way I'd responded to him.

"We can do this every night." Gavin said interrupting my train of thought.

"You're the only man that I've ever slept with which makes me confused as to what is real." I told him.

"Then don't think like that." He responded.

"Lena's in love with you." I told him.

"No, she's not." He responded.

"Yes she is."

"You're trying to pick a fight with me." He accused.

"No, I'm simply telling you what I know to be true."

He sighed sounding frustrated.

"Maybe I should go." I thought out loud.

"Now you're trying to piss me off." Gavin spat.

"I'm confused; I've never been in this situation before."

"You're confused because you want to be." he snapped sitting up on the bed.

"And what the fuck is that supposed to mean?" I snapped sitting up with him.

"That is one thing I like about your sister, at least she knows how to go after what she wants." He said getting off the bed and glaring frigidly down at me, then turning to leave the room.

"Don't you dare compare her to me--you fucking prick", I yelled at his back, angrier than I could manage at the moment.

"Why not afraid you'll come up short?" he threw back at me before leaving and shutting the door.

No. Fuck that, I thought. I followed Gavin out of the room as pissed as I had ever been before. I found him walking towards the stairs. I stopped him by grabbing one of his arms. He turned around and we were face to face, so close that all either of us had to do was lean forward and our lips would touch. We were both too angry for that to happen though.

"I'm not going to beg you to be here" he said fire still shining in his eyes.

"I'm not asking you to beg me but if you think for one minute that I'm going to sit here and listen to you compare me to Lena then--"

I had to stop talking because he chose that moment to advance on me. I was already close to the wall but now he had me pinned against it.

"What?" he said as I just stared up at his lips.

"Finish your rant."

"I wasn't ranting" I said right before he took my mouth in the most amazing kiss. Our tongues met and held, tasting one another. My hands crept up into his hair and I couldn't help the moan that stole out of me nor the wetness that filled my panties. I could feel him hard against my stomach and I began to rub my body against his, telling him without words what I wanted.

He wasn't gentle as he pulled off our clothes and then picked me up right there and slid into me as deep as he could go. With my back against the wall and my legs wrapped tightly around his waist I had the most inappropriate thought. I needed to thank Lena. As he drove himself into me over and over I could think of nothing more than thanking my twin for introducing me to Gavin. As I came shuddering all over and holding on to my man I thought I would do exactly that.

"You know" Gavin said like he was thinking along the same lines, "I never thanked Lena for sending you in her place that night. I should really do that." I laughed and told him that he should.

He carried me back into the bedroom where we spent the next few hours making love until we were both too exhausted to do anything but sleep.

***

Nicholas reached over and turned off his alarm clock as soon as it began going off. He hadn't been to sleep at all as he'd waited up for Stacy thinking about everything he would say to her, how it had always been her for him, but she never came.

It hurt like shit that she stayed with Gavin especially as he'd finally come to his senses about what he wanted and needed. He made himself get out of bed, though the pain in his chest weighed him down. When he got half the way down the stairs he sat down on a step, letting his misery consume him.

***

Across town Lena woke up knowing that she had overslept. She knew it was the middle of the day from the way the sun shining through the windows stretched across her face.

Gavin's couch had been very comfortable, though her body still seemed heavy. Depression settled over seconds later her as the events of the previous night flooded her mind.

She found the note Gavin had written he on the coffee table across from where she'd slept telling her he'd gone home. She figured she should go home too, that is if she still had a home.

She let herself in through the back door walking through the kitchen towards the stairs. As she looked up she was startled to see Nicholas sitting on the steps, his head down. When he looked up at her he didn't even try to hide the tears falling from his eyes.

His next words shocked her.

"Do you love him?" Nicholas asked Lena.

Lena had a lot of time to think about that as she'd lain on Gavin's couch. The answer was yes, she loved and she wanted him, so she told Nicholas the truth.

"Good" Nicholas said with a cold expression that she had never seen on his face before. It was far scarier than what he had been like the night before even.

"Because I'm in love with your sister" Nicholas continued, "I always have been."

Lena didn't know what to think or feel hearing him say that. Hadn't she known this, deep down? She knew that she had so she nodded her understanding then asked him where the two of them went from here.

"She's with him right now."Nicholas told Lena in answer to her question. Lena's heart froze and breathing became too difficult to contemplate.

"Don't look so sad" Nicholas said as he stood up on the steps, "I have no plans of allowing her to remain there."

"He is in love with her" Lena told this new Nicholas that she had never met before.

"Yeah I don't give a shit" Nicholas retorted surprising her further.

Lena crossed her arms over her chest feeling better than she had in a while, "so what's in this for me?" she asked.

"Help me and I won't leave your ass broke and penniless" he said to her. To Lena that sounded fair and she thought if Nicholas was going to get Stacy back she was definitely going to make sure that she got Gavin back. No matter how much Gavin cared about Stacy now Lena knew that she had meant something to him before she'd let him know that she was married.

"What's the plan?" she smiled at Nicholas.
