The wizard looked at his chief ally, recited his planned spell to complete the use of the soul energy within the room from the dead humans as a catalyst. Elven spirits were useless to him in this effort, else he would have killed his lover as well. He fled as the gullible coward he knew him to be finally surfaced. He was resourceful in getting him what he needed to complete his research. Books he now kept secure for the future in his quarters.
The soul energy was what he truly needed. Along with the relics and his phylactery he had stashed in the Royal vault in order to complete his transformation.
They had their instructions. He uncorked his vial and drank the necrotic poison from the vial to kill his living body as the final step in his dark ritual. His body turned to ash in the process. The Barron stabbed the ashes as instructed in his bargain with the wizard in front of guards who had entered the room at the end.
He did not care about the wizard's goals or even knew what his plans were. Other than to disappear and make people think he was dead after killing the nobles whom he loathed. It would open the door to the throne for this Baron. He wanted the throne. Having a powerful caster as an ally would help against the elves and even the dragons later. As Vexxor had promised to be his ally after all was said and done as he would prove his power this day.
With the other nobles gone this lowly Barron and his allies could seize power. He was tired of being held back and hated all of these non-human races that plagued his city and these treaties that placated the 'allies' they had. Instead of the other human races who they needed to ally with to purify the world of the non-human infestation. This would end the human alliances.
He now stood there as a hero of the human people who killed the rogue wizard!

Eldar walked up to the banker, "Your King has authorized me to purchase 3 enchanted fuel-less forges at 80,000 gold pieces each. I would like to pay for all 3 of them now. Two for immediate setup and one will have to wait until we have the beginning of the fortification walls."
The dwarf looks at Eldar, "I was in the chamber when you spoke. I just need an account number."
Eldar gave him his account number and he smiled. "You now own 3 dwarven forges."
Eldar smiled and he walked out and felt one of the crystals he carried vibrate. He looked at the dwarf, "I need a few minutes for a diplomatic matter. Please wait here a minute everyone.
He walked a good 200 yards from the group and talked to the crystal, "Your Majesty, something I can help you with?"
She sounded distraught, "Your presence is requested at the palace as soon as you can get here. We have a crisis."
He sighed, "I will be there shortly. I will have my apprentices with me. I will need an escort for them to House Silvertree once I arrive."
She huffs out like she was having a hard time breathing, "That will not be a problem. We will be looking for you. Please hurry!"

EmotionalStorm11 months agoAuthorIt was not an easy call to make to kill Heliar. The short answer is it is answered in later chapters. The long answer I will try and remember to add to the comment section in chapter 36 when it gets published in 7 days. So it does not spoil the story for others.
