Click hereShe looked at him, "I helped to stop three potential coups from happening. One the day after my wedding the other two in the days leading up to my birthday. One of those in person. I also gave away most of the money in my account today; well three quarters of. I still have over 100 million in the account."
Doc shook his head, "What did you do?"
She smiled, "I gave half of it to the crown for the war effort. To improve the gear for those who will be fighting. A quarter of it went into a death benefits fund for those who die while riding for me in the Shadow Riders."
He shook his head, "I could not contemplate having that much gold. Being a non-adventuring cleric, I do not get much in the way of money."
Jazzia smiled, "Eagle-eye was getting paid twice. I do not know if that is still the case."
He shook his head, "No the bar has brought in money for us as well. Your Aunt gave us sole ownership of it when she died. For all of the work our family had done for her and your ancestors."
Jazzia nodded, "Still you have a lot of children out there."
He smiled, "Yes. That I do. We talked about a second wife a couple of times. We chose to just have fun and kept it between the two of us, with a lot of visitors over the years. Still managed a lot of kids after the goddess fixed her fertility and virginity. It took me almost 3 years to kick her sex drive back up. The pregnancies and births helped with that."
Jazzia nodded, "Made it easy on myself by staying in dragon form for that."
He nodded, "Yes, that was something to watch elves come out of a dragon."
She laughed, "Or dragons come from an elf."
Jazzia sighed. "I did something else today. I convinced the King to create a new medal to be awarded to the family after death. For those who had a lifetime of heroic work in service to the elven people. Asked him to make the first recipient the one it is named after. Jarron Silverleaf."
Doc smiled at that as Melia came in. Jazzia looked at her, "The children all have names and the King went for it as did my house on turning over half their money to the crown. The King was going to look at his house books."
She smiled, "Where are you going?"
She smiled, "To eat and then check on the other 6."
She shivered, "Too cold in that home for me. They are at the end of the hall last room on the right on the outer right wall. They said they added you to have access to visit."
Jazzia nodded, "Thank you for helping with that move."
She smiled, "Thank you for returning this area to a normal temperature."
Jazzia smiled, "The water is still a little cooler."
She nodded, "I found out earlier!"
Jazzia giggled and Melia followed her to the dining area while Doc left and they ate. She went and checked on the other six. She was met at the entrance by the lady of the home. It was laid out like hers but the front section was smaller. She smiled, "You can call me Sharna. This way."
She took Jazzia back to where the 'waterfall' would be. There were a few eggs over in one corner, "Only a couple more weeks and they will have more playmates. This is foreign to us. Raising other children. We understand the circumstances and we are having to do the same thing. My mate is joining the fight. I am watching over the other silver hatchlings and young ones. Your father's suggestion to bring our families here took a lot of worry off of us. I wish I was going with him."
Jazzia looked at her, "Let me see what I can do about that."
She looked at Jazzia, "How?"
Jazzia visited with the children and had her walking with her to the door and waved her out. She walked over to the one used by the 7 silver ladies and walked in. She walked down to the table where Dame Staria was looking over some designs.
Jazzia looked at her, "I had a draconic magic question for you."
She looked up, "What kind of question?"
She looked at her, "Your draconic mythic magic. What you used to make these structures permanent. What happens to them if something happens to you? Access control, disappear, all of that?"
She went and summoned a spellbook and sent it back into the ether. She walked over to Jazzia, "It would be a mess, damned it!"
Jazzia looked at her, "Everything gets ejected out?"
She nodded, "Any house treasure could crush those it ejected. I need to talk with the Countess."
Jazzia waved them out and pulled the crystal to the Countess, "You free to talk or return home? We encountered an issue you should be aware of because it affects a lot of our activities."
Jazzia heard her sigh, "I will be right there."
About five minutes later and she arrived. Jazzia looked at the Countess, "Staria should not be out of this area until you are ready to say your palace is open for business to all metallic."
The Countess looked at Jazzia, "Why?"
Jazzia looked at her, "The mythic magic she used to make these shelters permanent ceases to exist when she dies. She should watch over the Silver dragon young. This creates a problem for field projects. Extra precautions should be made; ensure she can teleport directly back here.
She will need permission from the Duchess of course and a crystal to contact them. They have attacked here. Nothing to say they will not be watching the return site and what we are doing here. I have the non-detection on to help with that."
They had one of their mental conversations. Jazzia broke in mentally with the Countess, "Remember Traxxolanaxxna I can talk this way too."
Her eyes shot to Jazzia, "How do you know that name?!"
Jazzia looked at her, "All 9 members of the Dragon Council of Nine were on a document my grandfather captured. He put them into the journal, or should I say my father did. Encrypted. My father joked about inadvertently breaking the encryption by accessing the journals. He reapplied it.
Odds are before he died, he made his last update or just handled the book. He forgot to re-encrypt it again. I have it locked in with three-tier encryption applied. Have for years. But I figured it might shock you enough to include me in on the conversation as I do hold your secrets."
She sighed and walked into their home. They followed. She looked at Jazzia, "Thank you for encrypting it again. I wish he had not done that. Yet, I understand his reasoning at the time."
Jazzia looked at her, "To the problem."
She looked at Jazzia, "The only way to ensure it would lock into place is if someone else could cast the mythic spell as well. They could go behind and secure them all."
Jazzia looked at her, "I could try it."
She shook her head, "It is not something we would share with non-dragons." Jazzia moved away from her and flipped into dragon form and stared at her, "What about now?"
The two ladies chuckled. Jazzia looked at her, "The option is to keep her back or have a second cast it. Bahamut gifted me with certain draconic abilities. I cannot test the limits of those without some of your assistance. You have to decide how important her work is. I can create scrolls, wondrous items, wands, and rings. I have the permanency spell.
I have grown in power but I have not added any mythic abilities yet. I wanted to wait to see what seemed ideal. I was never old enough for the Gray Blades so I could not officially take my trainees out there. We occasionally rode along with a patrol so they could see what it was like. If we happened to kill something that was not supposed to be there so be it. My Cousin had a fit the first time that happened."
Jazzia sighed, "After setting them up on exercises for the morning I would come back and get some crafting in."
She looked at Jazzia, "What have you crafted?"
She changed forms and walked out to the hall and set up his crystal in the old master bedroom. She pulled out another bag of holding and pulled the contents out. Over 300 wands she laid out the bag next to them.
She smiled at her, "A few other things as well. Including that bag." Jazzia reached over, "Look over that wand."
The Countess looked at it and then to Jazzia, "Acid Explosion?"
She nodded, "Fireball acid-based. Took me some time while in school to create that variant."
Staria sighed, "We can try it. But she would have to have permanency ready."
She reached into the bag and pulled out a book and set it on the table, "Every utility spell I might need out of combat I created. I have 50 copies of each including permanency. That is 1,500 pages. I only made 8-12 wands a year. My Aunt wanted to temper my magic.
I agreed to pick up some enchanting skills to help her slow me down in that department. It was a win-win. I knew I would be going to war and probably have a group. I wanted to be ready and I wanted a surprise spell as well. Now I have several but they are too high level to stick into a wand.
If I realized the fighting method that would be needed for the dragons sooner; I would have had 400 wands of dimension door done. Instead of having them on consignment with the enchanters. If I cannot do it that is one thing. That means protecting her like she is worth a billion gold pieces and keeping her out of the fight. In which case Sharna can replace her in the field. The choice is yours."
She packed up her stuff, "I will switch out all my spells in that tier tomorrow with the permanency spell, unless I have to slot it in the same tier."
She looked at Jazzia, "It would go into a mythic spell slot."
Jazzia sighed, "What is the name of the spell. I might already have it. That would cut down on some of this indecision on the matter."
She looked at Jazzia, "It is called Briickanlxssa Lisandra, or Roughly put in your language it is a God's lock only more complex."
Jazzia looked at her, "I will be right back. Maybe an hour, I told you about 4 books, but I found others in the library a long time ago. I had Vivia pull them for me to have some reading material."
She packed up and walked into her home. She finally found it with about two minutes to go to. One of the metallic spellbooks she had found. She walked back over with the book. She opened the page, "That spell?"
The Countess looked at it, "Where did you get this book?"
Jazzia shrugged, "That one I am not sure about. I think it was part of Eldar's father's library at one point given the location I found it in."
She flipped through the book and back, "This is a Dragon Master's spellbook! A dragon mage mythic master! There are normally two books to the set."
She reached in and set the other one down with the same metallic binding. "It is not in this one but there are some pretty nice spells in it."
The Countess looked at Jazzzia, "I want these books!"
Jazzia looked at her as she picked them up, "I will add them to my will to give to you or Staria after the war. I have to go start a new spellbook and add a few of these to it for when I am in the field."
The Countess followed her in, "I mean I want those books now!"
Jazzia looked at her, "Why? Is it that you are afraid that I will learn something and convert it so any spellcaster can cast it?"
She nodded, "That is part of it."
Jazzia walked away, "What happened to trust. I am going to teach a few spells to the dragon rider's dragons. Spells to level the field and save lives. My father did that and helped to create this army. These shelters were spawned from his ideas.
Reclaim the forge faster and he killed who knows how many chromatic dragons. Who was it that put Staria with the enchanter working to engineer the domes to protect us? That was ME. I am tired of being dismissed and treated like a child when all I have done is to be the adult in these matters.
I identified the problems nobody was addressing. You should be thanking me for finding this now! Instead of the middle of the battle when all our shelters suddenly come down. The ones here with your dragons and hordes of treasure kill all the young because there is no room for them.
Six of those children are mine! I will work to protect them. You are a mother. Tell me you would not do the same in my shoes?!"
She huffed and walked out. Not ten minutes later and her cousin the Duchess was in her home. She looked at Jazzia, "Give her the books."
Jazzia looked at her, "No. If she wants them that bad, I want to study them that much more."
She looked at Jazzia, "I could order you."
Jazzia looked at her, "I could put them in a bag of holding and send them into the ether. Do not threaten me. She wants to talk it over in front of the King then I will entertain that idea. Not today I have children to feed."
She groaned and walked out. Jazzia grabbed plenty of non-perishable food and went into the falls area. She left all of her communication crystal on the table with a note, "Not to be disturbed."
She took all of her ink, blank books, and the two books. She set up the crystals and locked herself in and everyone else out of the falls area. She spent 5 days in the falls area copying spells, feeding her children, and testing spells. Sleeping when she could. She got the one spell into memory with permanency. She packed her stuff up into a normal pack and carried the two books. She released the wards.
She had Vivia sitting at the table, "What in the nine hells are you doing? You are wanted at the palace as soon as you come out."
Jazzia looked at her, "I will let you know when I am out. I need to change clothes and shower. We the only ones here?"
She nodded, "We have been watching in shifts."
She went into her room and grabbed a different outfit. Jazzia walked into the area and stripped out of her clothes and set her armor to the side. Jazzia looked at her pacing around in the bedroom and She activated the crystals and locked them in.
Vivia did not notice. Jazzia showered, changed, dressed, stashed her backpack. She deactivated the crystals. She walked for the door with the books as Grandaxxa came barging in. Jazzia looked at him, "How are you?"
He looked at Jazzia, "They are very pissed off at you for locking yourself away."
Jazzia nodded, "Anything else? Besides the fact we still have a night to make up."
He sighed, "The Duchess is fit to be tied right now. She has guards outside."
Jazzia smiled, "Where do they want me?"
Grandaxxa looked at her, "The Palace."
She nodded, "Keep an eye on the children. I will be back in a couple of hours to feed them."
She picked up her communication crystals and stored them. she opened the portal. The sword alerted, "Danger."
She cast another shelter in the middle of the room. She ran out of one and into the other. The two guards followed, "Seal portal." She went around the corner.
She dropped a pair of manacles on the floor. She walked further in and they caught up toward her as she drew her sword. She looked at the one guard, "Place those manacles on your friend or I will disintegrate you on the spot."
He looked around, "What kind of place is this?"
Jazzia looked at him, "You have ten seconds!"
She started counting down and he went and grabbed the manacled. She saw his friend turn to attack his buddy. She hit him with paralysis. That froze him in place. Jazzia went up and shackled his hands herself as his buddy came back.
She looked at him, "Please note he was getting ready to stab you in the back with that blade."
She stripped him down. To nothing and put him into a cell just as he snapped out of it. She locked his hands through the opening just in time and shut him in. She called out, "Unseal portal. You go and get the Duchess. Better yet contact her on this. Tell my husband I need Amy or Uncle John."
He left, "I am leaving your fate up to them, behave." He grunted at her. Amy arrived first. She grabbed the hand with the ring on it and looked at her, "You want to tell me what is on the other side of this ring?"
Amy sighed, "A blue dragon."
Jazzia looked at her, "Does this guy have anything useful in his mind?"
She looked back at Jazzia, "No more of the same. Nothing new."
Jazzia pulled the ring and the other guard watched his 'buddy' explode into fluids and flesh. As it killed the dragon."
Jazzia took the ring and tossed it to her cousin as she came into the room. "Nice guards your people have been hiring! I will leave him in there."
She stepped out as do the others She looked at the portal, "Seal no entry except for me and only on command." Jazzia went over to her bed and emptied her bag of holding.
She put the two books inside of it. She looked at Wendia, "Put all of this on the table for me."
She nodded. She pulled the crystal for the King, "Your Majesty, are you free to talk? Are you in a secure area?"
He sighed, "Meet me in the conference room in five minutes. I will have them bring the shields down."
Jazzia sighed, "Not possible, Your Majesty. I was ready over an hour ago. I had to deal with another matter. That means I have less than an hour before I will need to feed my children again."
The King sighed, "Just a moment."
He responded back, "I am secure."
Jazzia looked at the crystal, "I have a body of a dead blue dragon on the fourth floor of the inn. He had one of those rings. What happened to them blocking that out at the shield?"
The King sighed, "They paused the work on that until they get those damned books from you. All of them."
Jazzia looked at the crystal, "Is she there?"
The King sighed, "Yes."
Jazzia looked at the crystal, "I have the two she really wants in a bag of holding with a knife ready to send them to the astral plane. Now is she going to be reasonable or do I start cutting? Ask her to think about that. I am going back inside to feed my children."
She turned off the crystal and walked in, "Seal portal no entrance." She walked back to her bedroom and got her backpack.
She went to the falls and took her armor off and started feeding children. Staria walked in with the Countess behind her. Jazzia looked at her, "Not a good time to try and talk with me. Leave my home now."
The Countess looked at her, "I am not letting you lock us out again!"
Jazzia looked at her, "I will start launching fireballs in ten seconds if you do not leave the area."
They stood fast and she pulled a wand out from under her leg at which point they left.
Jazzia finished feeding the children and dressed. She picked up her pack and walked out. They were sitting at the table and she tossed the wand to her, "Put that blank wand on the table with the others would you?"
She looked at it and slammed it on the table. They stepped outside. She immediately cast a teleportation circle and they were at the border to the village. She stepped through and she followed and did it again. She took them to the edge of the Elven Capital.
They stepped across the border and she brought them to the edge of the Palace District. Then they were in the conference room. She removed her backpack and stuck it into her bag of holding. She looked at her, "If I destroy the bag it has all of my spellbooks. I will spend weeks rewriting spells. You ready to drop your request?"
She glared at Jazzia. The King came in and sighed, "What in the nine hells is going on?"
Jazzia looked at the King, "In roughly eighteen hours a very large and dead blue dragon is going to fall through the fourth floor all the way to the bottom of the inn in Quantarsia. The body is still in the shelter I created and it is locked out to all but me.
I have every spellbook I have in this bag of holding. I will send them all to the astral plane if she makes a move to try and take them. I would like to point something out. Her refusal to continue work is a direct violation of your treaty with them."
The Countess looked pissed, "We would not have stopped work if you had given us our property!"
Jazzia looked at her, "You did not know they even existed until I told you and showed you. What guidance have you gotten from Bahamut in the matter? The last thing I got from him was the ability to cast draconic magic and then finding six books that had some in them. My Gods have not visited me once on this matter.
