Sister to the Rescue Ch. 02

"Hey," I teased. "If a guy is gonna buy you some clothes, they say it's not polite to ask the price."

"Yeah?" she replied, her eyes twinkling on mine. "That's not all they say. Careful what you let him buy, I heard. 'Cause he's gonna reserve the right to take them off later."

Cat got my tongue on that one.

Five minutes later I was walking through the mall with a frou-frou little gift box in one hand, red bow and all, which added to the three bags hooked over my arm. My sister's fingers were woven through my other hand. And I suspect that on my face was my sloppiest ever grin.

After I'd held the car door open for her, I checked the messages on my phone.

"Hey, guess what?" I said. "Alison called. Looks like she left a voice message."

"Oh my God, that's awesome John! Want me to step out so you can listen to it alone?"

I looked at my little sister, the girl I had just seen in the hottest dress in the mall, and whose new pair of panties I had proudly carried for her like a valentine's gift. And here she was trying to help her brother get a second date.

"No way," I laughed. "She can wait until we get home."
