Taking another swig from the bottle, a dark figure caught his eye. The man wasn't bothered with who could see what he was doing as one hand held a petite redhead close to his chest and the other hand was exploring her in more intimate places. A quick inhale proved to Adam what was going on. The moans that escaped her mouth were hard to ignore. What got his attention was the name the woman was moaning.

It riled up his wolf, angered him to no end. His heartbeat went up and he had a hard time fighting back the urge to simply rip the pitiful excuse of a vamp away from the woman and tear off his limbs one by one.

Again he heard the woman whisper "Rupert" and it acted like a red cloth to a bull. His eyes changed and a low rumbling was starting in his chest. His muscles were straining against the crisp white dress shirt he was wearing. He wanted to go over there and rip those two from each other and then he wanted to have a serious heart to heart with this Rupert person.

He took a first step but something held him back. Adam looked around and only when he felt an invisible hand fall on his shoulder, did he realize it was Merlin having a hold on him. Closing his eyes, he took a few deep breaths and relaxed his posture, signaling to Merlin he was back in control. The pressure on his shoulder went away.

With great effort he managed to focus on a different part of the club and move away from the pair that were still locked to each other's face. Scanning the floor, he tried shifting his interest to finding Chasey DiSarbonne. Adam toured the room completely without finding the man in question. He bit back a curse, he wanted this show started, preferably yesterday instead of tonight.

Making his way to the bar, he ordered another bottle of beer. Leaning against the bar, he appeared relaxed to the starting crowd, his eyes constantly scanning the room. Not much later he felt someone next to him. A quick sideways glance showed it was Chasey.

"Well, hello there. Aren't you back fast?" the vampire said with a Texan drawl.

Adam turned towards him.

"Really, a Texan accent? Doesn't that clash with the name a little?"

"Not really, it amuses me, that is all. But tell me, since you're back already, I can assume you had a nice chat with your Alpha?"

Adam looked around. "Could be, but that isn't something I want to discuss in the wide open for anybody to hear. So if you have somewhere more private we can go, be my guest." Adam didn't leave Chasey with much choice but to leave this crowed area.

"Follow me, my office is in the back. We can talk shop there," Chasey said while extending his arm, pointing towards a dark hallway next to the bar. As he followed Adam, his eye caught a little red head. His blood lust bubbling inside of him, he grabbed her arm and he drug her with him, knowing Sue knew what was expected of her.

Adam had a puzzled look as he saw the tiny redhead entering behind Chasey.

"It's OK, she knows when to hold her mouth," Chasey said with a smile.

Inwardly, Adam cringed at all of this. There was so much secrecy around this gang but on the other hand, they must have one hell of a reputation to be able to talk so freely around others about sensitive details and deals. Another plan was forming in his mind, maybe they could whisk away this girl and see if she would talk or maybe if Merlin could do some mumbo jumbo on her to spill some details.

Focusing back on the woman and Chasey, he saw she was already on her knees, her head bobbing up and down in an all too familiar fashion. He couldn't help but roll his eyes at this.

"Maybe once you get your 'fix' we can talk seriously?" Adam said in a bored tone.

"Oh but we can talk. Our little Sue here knows what is wanted and expected. Don't you, little one?" Chasey asked her.

With eyes filled with fear, she slowly nodded before turning back to the vampire and his exposed cock.

Adam was more than convinced that a lot more was going on with her and made a mental note to have her followed and see if they could sway her to talk freely to them instead of Merlin having his magical way with her. For now, he just had to temper his rising anger and focus on what he really was here for.

"If you say so," Adam started. "My Alpha has a perfect building that could be set up almost exactly like this. He's being positive so far and has given me the freedom to act on his behalf to make a deal. I'd like to know how things are run, who knows what and how you get a hold on the less voluntary food supplies without raising suspicion to yourself. And how you handle people like her," he ended nodding towards the still kneeling Sue.

"How we keep her in line is easy. She's addicted to our blood, she gets a weekly dose. In turn, she can visit here any time and any vamp can feed off her. As to keeping her mouth shut about anything else. Our little darling here has a sweet little one herself and she prefers her to be alive. Don't you?"

Adam shivered. They got her hooked on vampire blood, a fact that on its own was already strange, it was the first time he heard of the addictive quality of it. In return they got a free and fresh blood supply and if she dared talk they would kill her kid. Just another detail we have to take into account before trying to talk to her.

The young woman wasn't able to even nod since Chasey had his cock buried deep in her throat and was pressing her face even closer. For only a brief moment did he close his eyes as he came in her mouth. Without much ceremony, he dislodged his semi-hard dick and ordered her to clean him up. Once she was done, he lifted her halfway up, holding her by her shoulders and tilted her head.

He didn't need much blood to sate his blood lust, just a few sips. Latching onto her exposed vain, he took a few deep swallows before closing up the tiny marks. As a reward he slit his wrist and let her have a bit of his own blood. The feeling that washed over him as she pulled on his wrist was just as addictive as the blood was to her.

Adam had enough of this little display of power and cleared his throat while raising one eye brow at the same time.

"As much as this may amuse you, I on the other hand, still have other obligations to tend to. So if you don't mind getting your head in the right game, we can continue our little chat and get things moving. Shall we?" Adam sounded really annoyed now, not even trying to hide his displeasure.

Chasey patted Sue on the head, motioning for her to stay on her knees next to him.

"Don't get your panties in a twist, we got all night."

"You, maybe, but I certainly haven't. I have full clearance to set up this deal but my Alpha expects a fully detailed update when I leave here tonight. So excuse me if I feel we do not have all night and that I prefer to keep business and pleasure separated. What you do after this meeting is beyond me and I don't give a crap about that, so let's get this started, please."

His annoyed tone was still there and his posture went a bit more rigid. He really didn't want to stay here much longer then was needed. Chasey's little intermezzo might have provided him a backdoor to more information about the gang, but that didn't mean the main goal was to be forgotten.

"Fine, fine. Here let me give you some documents first. These will show that all ventures are handled legally, so it's hard for the court to pin anything on us. I'm assuming you can figure out a perfect lay-out for your own building when you start things up. You'll have access to our connections until you can expand them to your own territory.

"It might take some traveling at the start to get certain individuals over to your area, but in due time word will spread you're an asking party and doors will open slowly. Seeing we cater to many species, there really is never an issue of 'left overs'. Everything, literally everything, is consumed by one being or the other. There is hardly any clean up required apart from destroying any personal belongings those individuals had on them. Basically letting them evaporate without a trace."

Adam listened to every word Chasey was saying and with every word he got more angry inside, his control wavering. Suddenly, he felt the same soothing presence as he had earlier, indicating that Merlin was in the room as well and hearing every word for himself. He was glad to feel Merlin's presence because if that wasn't the case he didn't think he could keep his cool, not even with all his past training. The reason he was here was too personal for him to shut down his emotions.

Pretending to be interested, he kept on listening, shocked at how deep this gang seemed to be operating. This was quickly turning into something more than just a vengeance trip. This gang had to be stopped at all costs and any side branches they might have helped set up.

Still listening to Chasey, Adam went through the papers that were now in his lap. He was amazed that they would put anything on paper at all. There had to be more to it, they couldn't be this trusting about strangers wanting in. Adam felt a strange sensation in his mind before he heard a familiar voice.

Read the complete file. Don't worry about remembering it, I can pull it out of your mind later. You can't feel or sense it but that paper is magically enhanced. Should you take it outside a certain area the ink on it will disappear and it's just some worthless piece of paper. Also don't worry about Sue. I already let John know about her and he's taking steps to have her followed once she leaves here. Just focus on this deal.

A soft brush along his back confirmed it had been Merlin inside his head. He bit back a smile, the tricks that man had up his sleeve seemed endless and he was sure there wouldn't be a day he would bore you to death. His mind eased that Sue wouldn't be left to her own devices, he concentrated on the document, sure not to miss a word.

"It all seems very legit indeed. Did it take long to set it up like this?" Adam asked.

"Nope. We started the club 100% legit, contracts and good people. We wanted to build up a good reputation first before we started bringing in the real crowd we were aiming for. It was a hit." A dark smile crossed over Chasey's face before he went on. "People loved the acts we put on the stage. At first, it was all pretend, but bit by bit, we let them see it was the real deal, real fangs, real claws, no fake blood and certainly no fake screams. That's when the crowd changed and we started getting our usual visitors.

"They suggested other venues, species, acts. Derrick was all for it. We tried them out and it worked. And that's how we came to how we are today. These are, of course, only the big lines, I'm sure you understand we don't share everything. Just as not everybody gets to meet the number one right away, he likes his privacy and anonymity."

Adam managed to nod courteously, while inside he simply wanted to rip out the vampires throat.

"Well I may not have much time to settle it all," Adam said, "I'm gonna go over all the details here and I'll get back to you by tomorrow evening. If we decide to go ahead with this I'll make sure my Alpha will be with me. He'll want to talk to your boss to finalize everything. I'm assuming that won't be a problem?"

Adam was winging it a little here. He wasn't sure he could get him to come over, if his Alpha was free, the odds were good, otherwise, he'd have to come up with something else. He didn't want to stall things, the little things he heard and saw were enough to make him cringe and he wanted this over. All he had to do was convince him to let Merlin fetch him and it would all be fine, he hoped.

Chasey's eyes widened for a mere second. "Normally I'd say we don't move this fast, but I'll assume your pack is in good working order? I mean else you wouldn't be given this much liberty to broker a deal for them."

"The pack is just fine, you don't need to know more. If we wouldn't be able to handle this kind of venture," Adam circled his hand around him, indicating everything around them, "I wouldn't have asked for details. We just want more leverage on things in our area and I think something like this could give it to us."

Not much longer, Adam thought to himself, he just felt disgusted just having to be here, but he knew why and for who he was here and he tried to go back to the cold soldier he used to be. He had to sit out this meeting, call his Alpha, get him in on this, see how they could work something out with Sue and then end this sick charade.

"Yes, yes, all will be taken care of should your Alpha be with you the next time you grace us with your presence. You can even use the side entrance and bypass all the others," Chasey said as he practically started to glow.

Inwardly Adam let out a loud sigh, almost jumping with joy that he could end this charade of a meeting. He gave an impatient look towards Chasey who seemed to pick up on his mood.

"Don't let me keep you any longer, I'm sure you have a lot to discuss with your Alpha. However I must insist you leave those papers here. Is that a problem?"

"No, it isn't." Adam tapped his temple, "Photogenic memory, we'll get things sorted."

"That is indeed one handy treat to have, lucky you."

"Yes, lucky me," Adam replied with a dark smile creeping over his face. His emotions were all over the place, he wanted to get away from this place. He was fighting his anger because he wanted to rip the vampire to shreds. He was disgusted at how they treated the human females, not to mention what happened in the lower levels. He simply wanted this place torn apart, this gang disintegrated with nothing left.

Not wanting to stay here for a minute longer, he stood up and extended his hand to Chasey, wanting to close the meeting and simply get away from it all.

"I do hope we'll see you soon again, " Chasey said eerily.

"We tend to act fast if we're convinced it is how we want it. Don't be surprised to see us tomorrow or the day after at the latest," Adam said with a sure voice.

Their goodbyes said and done, Chasey escorted Adam to the side entrance. Handy to know where he had to enter the next time.

Outside, Adam waited a few agonizing minutes, walked away and then relaxed and let out a relieved sigh. "Thank goodness this part is over," he said to no one in particular.

"I noticed you had to tone it down a few times," Merlin's deep voice spoke behind him.

"You have no idea. I would have ripped his throat out if you hadn't intervened. You're handy to have around, I'll tell you that."

"Don't mention it. It was well worth being there. I know I could easily deal with this all in my own way, but I understand and respect your need for vengeance and John and Gabriella's need for closure. For them I feel sad, being tricked like this, squandering away such a gift." Merlin walked to stand in front of Adam, the sorrow evident on his face.

"Do you think you could follow Sue and somehow get her to our little hideout without them here noticing?" Adam asked.

"I should be able to yeah. Just have to follow her and whisk her away. I'll even clear her head and make sure I have her little one with us too. That way she'll see we mean her no harm, the opposite even. She'll see her little one safe and with her, she may trust us faster that way," Merlin suggested.

"Sounds like a plan; think you could transport me too? I don't want to stay here longer than needed and want to get things moving ASAP. I'm sure Dave will want to know I kinda roped him in to helping us. Sadly, I saw no other way to move things along faster. I don't want to dwell here any longer than is needed," Adam explained.

"No problem, let's go somewhere a bit more dark so they won't see us disappear. I'll come back to wait for Sue, follow her home and get that show on the road. I'll mentally ring a bell warning you I'll be over in a few."

"Ok, let's go," was Adam's short reply before both of them walked further up the dark passage way. Both stood next to a large dumpster when Merlin placed a hand on Adam's shoulder and transported them to John's estate.

+ + + +

Adam paced up and down the room, impatiently waiting for Merlin to arrive with his precious cargo. The call with his Alpha was successful. He knew Merlin wouldn't mind him telling his Alpha about it all so it was possible for him to transport him over so they could finalize their planning. For that to happen, Merlin first had to get back to them with both Sue and her little one.

Two hours had passed and still no word from Merlin, his pacing grew more agitated. What the hell was going on? The thought barely entered his mind when it got pushed aside by Merlin mentally knocking on his door, warning him he was about to appear in front of them.

He quickly gestured to the others to make room so there was enough room for all those arriving.

Eagerly waiting to the side, they all saw Merlin appear. Sue glued to his left side and in his right arm he had a tiny bundle tightly curled up against his chest. The pink blanket she was wrapped in made it clear her little one was a girl. With a look close to fear, Sue looked around the room. Her gaze was met with compassion and kindness, which soothed her a little bit.

Merlin led her to the couch and gently put the little girl in her lap. She hugged the girl close, not wanting to let go of her.

"Hello Sue. So we meet again," Adam started the conversation. "To make it clear, we don't mean you any harm, however, we could do with your help and hopefully some of your knowledge."

Not able to fully get the fear of the unknown out of her system, she just nodded.

"I am sorry about the way we met. Chasey sure is a piece of work," Adam said while almost grinding his teeth.

Again, Sue could only nod in agreement.

"You see, we want to shut down that place and everybody related to it. For that to happen, we need to get to the number one man, understand?"

Another nod from Sue.

"Do you think you know anything, no matter how insignificant you may think it is, that may be of any help?" Adam asked.

Sue hugged her little girl and rocked back and forth, going over what the tall man just told her. It was the first time in ages she had such a clear mind. It felt daunting, realizing in which position she had been for months, the danger she had exposed her little girl too. When Merlin knocked on her door not long ago, she almost crapped her pants. The babysitter had just left a minute before and good-naturedly she had opened the door thinking it was the babysitter coming back because she had forgot something.

The tall stranger surprised her, even more so with his kind and gentle gestures. With little words he explained who he was, what he wanted of her and to assure her that her little one would not be harmed, and even better, she could bring her with her and they would make sure she would get a new start for them both. He told her they had to be swift to make it all work. Still shocked, she let him in where he explained in more detail what was to happen and what he was offering, including helping her get rid of the vampire blood addiction.

That little fact was what pushed her over. That and the reassurance that her daughter would be safe and they would be out of reach from the bad guys. From the moment she agreed to help, things turned into a blur. He helped her get her daughter after he did something weird to her. She didn't question it at that time because frankly she didn't know how to ask.

Being at the club had proven that there were many creatures walking the earth alongside the humans and she wasn't sure where to place Merlin yet. She knew soon enough, for the second her daughter was ready, he told her to hold on tight and that he would carry the little one. A second later they appeared in a lush room with three men and one woman looking friendly at her.
