"Well, it's only cross-dressing technically."
"What do you mean?"
"From what I understand, most men who cross-dress, dress fully. I'm really only interested in the heels."
"Really, so no dresses or lingerie?"
"Nope."
"How did Rachel find out?"
Jason explained what happened the first day he moved into his apartment. How Rachel stepped over the dividing wall on their common terrace and sat down to paint his toenails red as a prank all the while thinking he was taking a nap.
"That's the craziest story I've ever heard. That girl's middle name has to be mischievous."
"I agree. Oh, yes, right there, that's where the knot is. Oof."
Janet moved around and began to work across his shoulders.
"The real moment came when she decided to put her four-inch high-heeled white sandals on my feet. She probably thought I would protest or fall over when I discovered what she'd done. But I didn't. She sat there dumbstruck as I casually stood up and walked to my terrace door. I turned with a grin and invited her in for a glass of iced tea."
"Unbelievable. I can imagine the look on her face."
"It was priceless. But she handled it all very well. In retrospect I can't believe that I even did that. I'm the epitome of the shy person when it comes to things like that."
I'm glad you opened up. You guys have been so wonderful to Mike and me." She moved over to the other side and started working on his upper arm. "So where did Jessie come from?"
Jason explained about his twin sister Jessie, and why he decided on her name for when he was out shoe shopping with Rachel. "Jessie left us all way too early in life."
Janet's eyes began to glisten.
Jason shifted his leg to help Janet adjust the sheets as she dabbed her eyes.
"It's kind of nice knowing that my sister is still with me. I like to think that she's laughing at me all the while I'm standing there in high heels. She always was such a tease. She liked to point out that she was five minutes older than me, especially when she was trying to win an argument."
"So wearing heels was just a gift to Rachel? That's so incredibly sweet."
"That's why I never wanted to go anywhere but Sarah's shoe boutique. Jessie was supposed to be someone who was only with Rachel. But, things changed and that's okay too, as long as it goes no further.
"It won't, trust me."
"And, now Christmas is coming up and she wants me to go with her to her Christmas party where she works."
"As Jessie?"
"Yeah."
"How is she presenting you? Are you going to be her sister, or her cousin?"
"Crap. I think I've said too much already. Jan, you'll have to ask Rachel, she might kill me if I say anything else."
"Okay, let's bring her in." Janet walked to the door and peeked her head out. "Mary, can you ask Rachel Clark to come back to room nine? Thanks."
A moment later, Rachel knocked softly on the door and then opened it. She walked into the room and quietly shut the door. "Hi, you wanted to see me Jan?"
Before Janet could utter a word Jason interrupted her. "I'm sorry Rachel, it's just me and my big mouth. I was telling her about Jessie when it slipped out that Jessie was invited to attend a Christmas party at your work. She asked me how you're going to present me, as your sister or your cousin. That's when I said I couldn't say anymore without your permission."
"Did I step on a land mine here?"
Rachel smiled sweetly and sat down on a chair nearby. "No Jan, it's complicated. But you might as well know the whole story."
Rachel proceeded to explain the whole Rachel/Ray thing. How her work was so much easier if she dressed as Ray instead of Rachel. Then she told her about the night she was beat up and how Jessie took care of her.
"Somebody beat you up?"
"Yeah, he was a real Neanderthal." Rachel reached over and took Jason's hand. "It looked worse than it was and Jessie was just wonderful. So now my supervisor wants to meet Jessie, cause at work I'm Ray..."
Janet held up her hands and grinned. "Yeah, I got it. It is complicated isn't it?"
Rachel nodded. "And to make matters worse, Jason's Christmas party at his college is the same night and the Dean of Students wants to meet me as Rachel."
Janet stood with her mouth wide open. "How are you going to do that?"
Jason propped himself up on his elbows looking a bit bewildered. "I don't know but we'll manage somehow...changing in the backseat of a cab as we drive across town, maybe?"
"I can help."
They both responded simultaneously. "Huh?"
"I can help."
Rachel sat down on the bed next to Jason. "How?"
"When I was in college I worked as a dresser backstage for the musical theatre department. I was a whiz at the quick change."
"Are you sure?"
"Of course! Come on, it'll be fun, I promise."
"But Mike can never know!"
Janet pulled Rachel and Jason into a big hug. "My lips are sealed."
The next chapter: Christmas...
Janet flopped down on Rachel's couch. "We have a problem."
Rachel looked from behind the refrigerator door. "What?"
"Mike just asked me to go to the faculty Christmas dinner with him."
"That is a problem."
"Shit. Now what?"

I wish I could vote to give it 5 stars.
This is a great story with characters that I have come to really care about. Can't wait to see how the Christmas chapter comes out. Thanks.
well done
loved all of them. I wasn't sure how you would work all of it, but very nicely done. I look forward to the following chapter.
you tell a great story, I look forward to the next chapter. You could guess this could happen but you keep reader looking for the next twist. Well done
Great story...great chapter...Just Great!!!!
I parrot all the other good comments...have enjoyed this story since the beginining and will keep following!
Keeps getting better and better!
Just loved this chapter! (as well as the entire series, and all your series).
Once again the character work and interplay is simply the best! The background stories and antics are wonderful as well. I felt so for Janet on T-Day, have had too many of those "oh shit" days myself, and it was so real, it made me cringe.
The Michal Sam discussion leading to all out war in the kitchen was amazing!
The Pirates of Penzance scene as well as the swashbuckling Jason in the kitchen were a major hoot!
Rachel and Micheal's first time together was beautifully, erotically done.
The fluidity of the story's flow is top notch and I marvel at your ability to weave in and out of the different plots with such beautiful detail, each one progressing and keeping me wanting to know each of these wonderful characters even more.
As always I can't wait for the next chapter, your work is by far the best on here.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful literary gem with us!
Cheering you on....
