"OK! It's a deal. You, do as you are told," she said to Jessie. She was still wary of Paula wondering what she was up to and what she was getting out of it. Perhaps Paula was more of a friend than she thought. A lot of the class surprised her with their support.

"Graham, you go along with them. Keep an eye on them both, make sure this one doesn't slip away," she told him, while pointing at Jessie.

Paula didn't look too happy but was trying to hide it. Jessie looked plainly unhappy about it and was trying to find something to say. Graham wasn't too pleased either but accepted it as a favour to his girlfriend that might pay off later.
