Faster than she thought she would, Alanna drifted into sleep.
Before getting into his own bed later that night, David looked at her curled up body. He tucked the blanket in gently around her and smiled down at her. That she was sleeping soundly, her sweet face peaceful, did a lot to ease the tightness in his chest and he got into his own lonely bed.
