Brad, Robby, and I stood up from the chair we'd been sharing. I was about to look at Mickey for confirmation that the evening was drawing to a close when I noticed that Dani's pants were still on the floor where I'd kicked them. I pivoted to look at her where she stood behind the chair to see why she'd made no move to put her pants on. She was just standing there, lost in her own world and staring at Mickey with adoring eyes.
I glanced at Brad who, in turn, was looking at Dani. But it didn't look like adoration. His smile had become ridged and frozen again, his jaw set tight, and the slight blue of anger was back in his face.
