The Ebony Alpha Ch. 27

Now she smelled quite different and her breasts were tender. They wondered if their mates noticed the muted fifth heartbeat in the limo. Alisha had flown back to Texas with Jackson and Megan. They would have to tell her later.

"Hey ladies you are awfully quiet over there. Anything we can help you with?" Ambrose inquired as he pulled Becky into his lap for a soothing embrace.

"No babe just women stuff. I am anxious to get back home. I want to see Louisa and the twins. They will be so big even after only a few weeks away." Becky snuggled closer to Ambrose and closed her eyes, letting his strong arms give her comfort.

"Yea I guess we will be getting ready for school soon enough. I really don't want to leave Joe until he is fully back to normal"

"I know what you mean Brose. I have become used to protecting him and Louisa. It will worry me when we are away from them."

"You guys are forgetting about Sullivan and Raphael. He has brothers there too. Stop fretting, Joe has the best Alpha bitch at his side. She would protect him with her life. In fact she has been doing that for a long time." Becky sighed and nipped her mate's lip.

"Everything will work out you'll see." Hazel said quietly knowing that Joe would be that last thing on any of their minds before long.

Ambrose looked across at his brother and sent to him through their family bond.

"Do you hear that Abe? It seems as if I am going to become a father sooner than later. Why do you think they aren't telling us the good news?"

Abe smiled at his twin and sent back. "I think it makes them feel closer to share a secret. But they should know we can scent the change in Becky. Even hear the faint thrumming of a new heart beat."

"Hey we are almost doctors after all. We are sensitive to these things." Ambrose fumed through their bond.

"Let them have their secret for now. I think they may want to talk to Louisa first."

"I guess you are right. Do you think the baby could be yours Abe?"

"Are you crazy Brose? Didn't you listen in Were history 101? Only mates can conceive with each other. The brat is yours!"

"Hey thanks for remembering that Bro. But this brat as you call my offspring will be your niece or nephew."

"Is it only just one? After all; the twin gene runs in our family tree." Abe wondered.

"I'm pretty sure those things skip a generation. We should safely have one kid at a time."

Ambrose squeezed Becky to him more tightly and scented her neck.

"Babe you smell so good. Is that a new perfume you are wearing?" He nuzzled her a little closer and she looked at Hazel with alarm.

"No Ambrose just soap and water." She hastily answered and calmed as he asked no more question. He smiled knowingly at his brother as the two women kept their secret just a little longer.

As the Limo pulled into the circular drive in front of the main house of the Chamber's compound, Ambrose jumped form the car and held the door open for his family.

They were met by only the omegas, who took their belongings into the house after the four of them had entered the foyer.

They could hear the commotion coming from the large dining hall and followed the sound. Becky asked to be excused and she went to their chambers to rest.

"Don't worry I will send Louisa to you shortly Becky." Hazel assured her.

The scene that met them was as expected as all of the Chambers pack present were trying to get a closer glimpse of the fabled Alpha pair.

Megan and Jackson took all of the attention in stride and sent their love and comfort through Silas' Alpha bond.

They never over stepped their bounds when over-riding another Alpha, but with Silas' consent, it was easier than trying to greet every pack member face to face.

The twins and Hazel made a b-line for Joe and Louisa and greeted them with hugs and kisses. Their small pack had a strong bond and they had missed each other terribly.

"Where is Becky? I am sure her parents would love to see her right now." Joe inquired.

"She wanted to rest after the trip and is in her suite. She would love to see you and Joslyn Louisa." Hazel answered quickly.

Something in Hazel's tone made Louisa look at her closely and she turned without a word to find Joslyn.

"I told you Abe, those women want to keep everything a secret. I think it's cute." Ambrose sent to his brother.

Abe only smiled in response. It was funny. He would never understand women. But he did understand how to please his mate, and if keeping him in the dark made her happy, so be it.

Carlotta opened her eyes and closed them quickly. The light of dawn was dazzling and painful to her new eyes.

Everything was so bright and her sense of smell was overwhelmingly acute.

She could smell the musk of arousal from beside her and turned her head to look at the man lying at her side.

He was just as beautiful as she remembered. He, after all would never change in appearance. Vampires were perpetually beautiful and he was no exception.

His chiseled features and strong jaw only accentuated his perfection and she was mesmerized by his generous lips.

Just one kiss would sate me. She thought and moved slightly to taste his mouth.

"You are a wake little one and already up to no good." Andrew pulled her on top of him and kissed her soundly on the lips.

"Is that what you seek my little minx?" He said as he kissed her again, more slowly and gently this time.

"I forgot you can read my thoughts." Carlotta said in awe.

"Only until you learn to block them my love." Andrew explained.

"I would not invade your privacy Carlotta. I only crave your love."

"I have so much to learn," She sighed and snuggled into his broad chest.

"It will be a pleasure for me to teach you everything. It will make me feel young again. We will have such fun."

Carlotta suddenly sat up and began to sob.

"What is it my love? Is there still pain?"

"No I just thought of Dru. What will her part be in our lives Andrew? She can't leave her pack. I want her with us. I want to be a family."

"I don't know much about the interworking of a pack my love. But these wolves seem very reasonable beings.

They have tolerated my presence and even helped me by offering us a place to be together."

"I know but wolves are very communal and taking her away from her pack might not bode well for their infrastructure."

T

he two fell back into each other their thoughts overtaking each other's in short spurts of reasoning.

"I will talk with Joe about it. He will understand our need even if it will only be temporary."

"Okay I will let you handle it. It feels good to have help in such things." Carlotta turned over and smiled at Andrew love filling her eyes.

"

Are your hungry Carlotta you must have sustenance to keep your cravings at bay."

"I feel strangely sated Andrew. Could it be your ancient blood? I have read Vampire lore and I seem to recall that your temperament is passed along during the transformation."

"I have never sired another, but my sire was very ancient and I recall that I did not go through the whole newborn phase. Maybe there is something to that after all. But come I would still have you eat if nothing but for the practice."

Andrew helped Carlotta from the bed and swept her up into his arms. She started to protest, but thought better of it. She had longed to be in his arms for too many years and now her wish was reality.

"Andrew you spoil me. I could get used to being carried around." She smiled at her mate and had the nerve to blush when she noticed his aroused manhood.

"I like the way your thoughts turn my love, but we have eternity for that. Now let's sustain ourselves."

He set her on her feet in the small kitchen and opened the refrigerator. He pulled two pouches of blood out and sat them on the island.

The smell of blood drew Carlotta's attention and a small hiss escaped from her mouth.

"It calls to me Andrew. How will I resist a human's scent? I am afraid I may kill someone."

"Not if you are sated my love, this is how I sustain myself. If my ancient bearings were transferred during your change you will be able to resist."

Carlotta looked at the pouch of liquid life and her mouth began to water. How could she feel such a way after such a short time?

This blood was a very powerful seductress and she was its prey.

"Watch me Carlotta and this will be the quickest way to handle these packets."

Andrew picked up one of the pouches and let his fangs protrude from his mouth. He punctured the plastic with them and tidily sucked the bag dry.

Carlotta followed his example and sucked in the blood. She suddenly felt dizzy and dropped the pouch and sank to the floor. Andrew laughed and picked her up once more.

"I forgot to tell you to take it slow. You have what is much like what the humans call brain freeze it will subside soon enough,"

She felt herself becoming more normal, if she could attribute that word to herself and relaxed against her mate. S

he felt completely whole for the first time in her life, and she only had to die first to get there.

Her only thought as Andrew pulled her closer for a kiss, was that she'd do it all again if she could have this every time.

After another wonderful afternoon of lovemaking, Andrew and Carlotta went downstairs to stretch their legs and give Carlotta another drink.

To their amazement all of Carlotta's personal items had been placed inside of the small entry of the cottage and a note lay atop of her bags.

"What is it Andrew? Do they want us to leave?" She asked eyeing her things nervously.

"On the contrary my dear; we have been invited to dine with the Pack tonight. It seems that The Ebony Alpha and his mate Megan are here and want to meet both of us."

"I don't believe it Andrew!" Carlotta exclaimed. "I have been less than civilized to most of the people on this compound. They want to punish me, I just know it."

"Come now my sweet, Silas is my friend as well as Jacques. I am sure it is just pure curiosity to see if you have taken well to your new situation."

"I'm scared Andrew. I feel so guilty for my actions. I don't belong in the same room with any of them." Carlotta melted onto one of the plush

sofas and looked at Andrew pleadingly.

"Look at me my mate." He commanded.

"I love you and would never let anyone ever hurt you. Can you trust me darling? Please have faith in me."

Carlotta looked at the sincerity in her husband and mate's eyes. His scent was pure and she felt his confidence envelope her from head to toe.

"Alright I will go, but don't leave my side my love. I will surely faint dead away if you do."

"But my dear that is impossible. Remember you are immortal now. We shall live forever in love."

Carlotta threw a pillow at her smug mate and laughingly walked into his open arms.

"I trust you my mate. Let's get ready. I find that if nothing else I want to see my daughter most of all."

An hour later Andrew led Carlotta into the large dining hall were the Chamber's pack and their guest were gathering.

A hush fell over the room and Carlotta grabbed tightly onto Andrew arm.

"Andrew and Carlotta how wonderful to see that you are both doing well. Carlotta you gave us quite a scare there for a little while and it is good to see you among the living." Silas said to the pair in greeting.

"Don't you mean the undead my friend?" A sultry voice corrected as Sara Chambers appeared at her mate's side. They all laughed as that remark broke the ice and everyone relaxed a little more.

"Please sit here with us at the head table, you are our special guest tonight."

"I'm sorry, but I was told that Megan and Jackson were here as well. I was sure they would be your special guests." Carlotta said nervously, afraid that she was part of some joke.

"Yes they are here as well, but there is room for all of you here." Sara motioned to the large table with a sweep of her arm.

She made no further attempt to calm Carlotta's fears and smiled as she moved to greet another guest.

Andrew pulled out a chair urging Carlotta to take a seat.

"Calm down my darling all is well. I smell no hoax in the making. Look; here comes our beautiful daughter and her mate. Let's think about grandchildren shall we?" Carlotta smiled and stood to hug Dru and Raphael as they took their seats beside them.

"Mother you look fabulous. Vampirism suites you, have you taken a closer look at yourself? We could be sisters!" Dru was excited and clasped her mother's hand tightly.

"You smell wonderful Dru." Carlotta said as she caught the wonderful scent of sweet blood surrounding her senses.

"Oh I'm sorry mother I forgot about that. Do you need to feed? I would gladly offer you my wrist. Then we could bond even more."

"

I would never take advantage of you like that Drusilla!" Carlotta hissed into her daughter's ear.

"I am in control of my inner beast if you must know. But I smell something different about you more than one scent I am guessing."

Drusilla looked at her mother and sighed in relief. She was doing much better than she has feared.

It was miraculous really. Her mother looked twenty years old again. She even thought her father was the most handsome man in the room.

"I am hurt my love. I thought I was the most handsome man to you." Raphael laughed quietly as Dru realized that he had read her thoughts. She punched him in the arm and kissed him soundly.

Silas Chambers stood and called everyone's attention to him.

"Dear friends and family we have much to be thankful for and we will start with our guest here tonight. This morning most of you had the chance to commune with Alpha Clarion and his mate Megan. Jackson and Megan are visiting all of the North American Packs and we are pleased that they are here as we welcome a New Year."

Jackson and Megan stood and bowed to everyone once again. Every clapped as they took their seats and Silas continued.

"We are all grateful to Luna for her divine intervention in the eradication Fabio Marconi. He has been the cause of much grief in our Pack and I'm sure I speak for all of us in saying good riddance."

Another round of applause went up and Silas held up his hands for quiet.

"We also have a hero in our midst. Would you please stand Carlotta; my son Joe has something he would like to say to you."

Carlotta stood holding on to Andrew's shoulder for support. She was shaking as she was aware of every eye in the room had turned to her.

"Carlotta I would like to express my deepest gratitude for your sacrifice in the pecan grove that horrible night. Things went terribly wrong, and our plans did not prepare for Fabio to stoop so low as to throw dirt in my face."

Everyone laughed as he recounted that action with mock horror.

"We also understand that you were under duress, and that you did not want to help Fabio in his actions. For that I say thank you Carlotta and welcome you as an extended family member of my small Pack, Andrew that goes for you as well. I know you and your family have a lot of catching up to do."

Joe took his seat and the room clapped their hands; giving Carlotta her own round of applause.

"Thank you everyone. I am humbled at your acceptance of me. I want to apologize for all of my past actions, and I pledge myself to you as a protector and friend for life."

Breathing a sigh of relief Carlotta took her seat and picked up the glass in front of her to take a sip of wine to steady her nerves.

Her eyes widened in recognition as the fragrance hit her nostrils and the savory taste of sweet blood filled her mouth.

"They think of everything my dear." Andrew whispered to her. Only then did Carlotta let her smile brighten the room.
