On the door in front of me was a printed notice which read, 'Remove all items of clothing including shoes, wristwatch and any jewellery and place in box for safety. Lock box, remove key and ring bell when ready. Hand key to staff when admitted. Your box will be made available to you again when you are ready to leave.'

Well, I thought, here goes then! This is where it all starts to get really interesting. I hope I'm ready for whatever comes! But I was only too aware of how much I was trembling. I'd never felt so strung up and tense in my life - with that extraordinary mixture of anticipation and fear.
