The Morrisons Ch. 10

Kim smiled and Shelly pointed to Hanna's doctor. Both of them walked over and Kim stuck out her hand and said, "Hi, I'm Kim Morrison and Hanna Lindquist is going to be staying at my home when you release her."

The doctor excused himself for a second and when he walked back to us he was carrying Hanna's records. He said, "Let's go down to Hanna's room and she can sign my orders then we can start processing her out."

Standing beside Hanna's bed, the doctor told Hanna he didn't want her to be alone for at least a month. He reminded her she had some serious injuries and gave her some symptoms to look for. Turning to Kim he said, "I understand Hanna is of legal age, but I would appreciate it if you watched over her for any changes in appetite, or mood swings that aren't normal. Hanna, I want you to tell Mrs. Morrison if you have any changes in your bowel movements or if you get cramps which aren't associated with your menstrual cycle. I don't want to you to do anything strenuous or pick up anything more than a couple of pounds. I want you to relax and I don't want you to go back to work until you get approval from Dr. Roberta Collins who seems to be your primary care doctor. I want you to make an appointment with Dr. Collins no later than two weeks from today. If all of you are in agreement with the conditions of my patient orders, I will sign the release and we can start processing Hanna's release."

Kim looked at Hanna who was smiling ear to ear, nodding her head yes, so Kim said, "Yes doctor, we are in agreement with your patient orders."

The doctor put out his hand towards Hanna and while they were shaking hands he said, "Young lady, you were very lucky the people you were with the night you were admitted to the hospital recognized you had a problem. Had you waited, we most likely would not be having this conversation. You are not completely healed, but there is no reason to keep you penned up here. I want you to go home with Mrs. Morrison and relax."

Hanna's eyes filled with tears as she said, "I know doctor. The Morrisons are wonderful people and I'm sure Kim will watch over me like a mother would."

The doctor turned to Kim and said, "Keep her safe, she's a great young lady with a lot of potential."

Kim smiled and said, "I will doctor."

For the next half an hour Shelly and Kim watched as the nurses came and went. In the meantime, Kim helped Hanna get up and get dressed. Finally the nurse came in with a fist full of papers. She read all the papers one at a time including the doctor's orders then had both Hanna and Kim sign them. Finally, the nurse said you have to stop by a pharmacy on the way home and fill these two prescriptions. They're important and you need to take them as directed. As she finished the nurse asked, "Do either of you have any questions?"

Hanna looked at Kim and Kim looked at Hanna then Kim said, "No, we are good to go."

The nurse said, "I have the wheelchair right outside the door. Hanna you have to ride out to the car."

Hanna walked out and sat down in the wheelchair. The nurse pushed Hanna over by the nursing station and dropped off the signed copies of the papers then started pushing Hanna to the elevator. Kim, Shelly, and the officer who was stationed at Hanna's room walked behind them and rode the elevator down to the main floor. Shelly said, "I'll bring the car back around the circle and park by the doors."

Once Shelly had the car in place, the nurse pushed Hanna out to the car. Hanna chose to sit in the back seat so she could lie down if she wanted to. Kim opened the front door and slipped in beside Shelly. Hanna turned and said to the nurse, "Good bye and thank you for taking good care of me."

The nurse said, "Take care, Hanna."

Shelly drove away from the hospital and Kim told her where to stop so they could get the prescriptions filled. On the way to the pharmacy Shelly started telling Kim about Ted coming to the house and organizing all the work and told her how he called in additional people so they could finish installing the gate and all the cameras and have everything wired and working before they went home for the night. Kim smiled to herself knowing that Shelly was giving her all the information but without alarming Hanna.

It wasn't long before Shelly was driving down the road and Kim spotted the police car sitting at the end of her driveway. The officer got out of his car and when Shelly slowed down to a stop he said, "Hello, Shelly, how's everything going?"

Shelly smiled and said, "Everything is perfect, Jack; has everything been quiet here?"

Jack smiled and said, "Yes, all is quiet here." Then he smiled and said, "I love duty out here. They brought me out a big lunch then a snack and they keep sending someone out with more for me to drink. I'm going to gain ten pounds if they don't stop bringing me something to eat and drink."

Shelly smiled at Jack saying, "Jack, lean down here so I can introduce you to the lady of the house."

When Jack leaned over Shelly said, "Jack, this is Mrs. Kim Morrison and in the back seat is Hanna Lindquist."

Both Kim and Hanna smiled at Jack and he said, "Glad to meet both of you."

Shelly saw the gate opening so she said, "I better get through the gate before they close it again."

Jack stepped back and said, "See you in a little while."

Shelly quickly drove through the gate and up the driveway. She pulled up in front of the steps and shut the car off. She got out and looked around as she walked to the passenger side of the car. Before she opened the door Shelly took one more look around at the bushes and the edge of the house. When she opened the door, Shelly helped Hanna step out of the car and held her arm as they walked up the steps and to the front door. Kim tried to turn the doorknob, but the door was locked. Kim pushed the doorbell and Mary opened the door slowly and peeked out before she opened it all the way and stepped back.

Hanna looked around and then said, "When all of you were at the hospital you told me all of you are nude when you are here, but Terri everyone is dressed, what's going on?"

Mary said, "Hanna, we aren't going to try and bullshit you so I will start off saying, yes we are normally nude when we are at home. However, this morning we had an incident here where someone Terri didn't know came here and asked for her by name. The young man is at the jail right now. We are currently on a low level alert. The security system will be fully operational by this evening, so everything will soon be back to normal or at least what we consider normal."

Terri also told her about Tony and his wife and sisters who take care of everything outside. Then Terri told Hanna about the hot tub and the pool out on the deck. All three of them turned when Terri and Hanna entered the room and smiled at the girls. Terri asked Hanna if she wanted something cold to drink as she opened the refrigerator and waited for Hanna to make her selection. Hanna said, "I'll have a cold bottle of water if you don't mind."

Terri handed Hanna a bottle of water, then took one for herself before saying, "We want to use the pool; is there anyone else interested in cooling off."

Kim, Mary and Shelly were off their seats in a heartbeat and following Terri and Hanna towards the pool. When they got out on the deck Hanna said, "OH WOW, we get to go in that pool?"

Kim smiled and said, "Hanna, while you are here, you may use anything here without asking."

Terri pulled Hanna's arm and said, "Let's go!" Then both of them took off running and jumped into the pool. Both girls came up laughing and spitting out water. Kim followed close behind making a large splash as she entered the water. Both Mary and Shelly took a few minutes to look around the edge of the deck while carrying their pistol belt. When they were satisfied there was no immediate danger they placed their pistol belts on the deck near the pool and slipped down into the pool and swam over to Kim, Terri and Hanna.

All of them were enjoying the pool when Tony, Patty, Barbie and Beth walked up on the deck, momentarily startling Mary and Shelly. The newcomers headed for the shower to wash off before entering the pool. Terri took the responsibility to introduce Hanna by saying, "Hey, I got someone new you guys should meet.

Tony was adjusting the water with Patty right beside him so both of them turned and looked into the pool. Terri said, "On the left over here we have Beth and Barbie and they are Tony's sisters. And over there by the shower is Tony and his wife Patty. This young lady is Hanna Lindquist and she will be staying with us for a while." All four took turns saying hi to Hanna.
