The Night Walkers: Blood Slave Pt. 02

Morgan stared at me for just a few brief moments, before the monster that attacked me roared loudly, drawing her attention away from me. I watched, as the beast pulled itself from the pile of dented trashcans and stood on its hind legs again. Just as it had done before, it proceeded to pound on its chest with both hands, before stomping its feet and growling at Morgan.

"M-Morgan, get out of here!" I shouted, fearful for her safety.

She didn't even acknowledge me though.

Morgan threw back her heavy cloak and hanging at her side, was what appeared to be a Japanese style Katana. She quickly drew it from the sheath and stepped into attack stance, staring down the beast, without a trace of fear.

"Let's go," I heard her whisper.

Without any warning, the beast howled and leaped right for her. Morgan stepped slightly to the left and as the beast drew closer to her, she swung her blade hard and fast. It moved so fast, I could barely follow it with my eyes, as it sliced through the side of the monster and blood splattered everywhere. I rolled out of the way as quickly as I could, the wolf-like creature landing right where I had been, just moments before.

It landed with a loud thud and the ground shook beneath me, as I forced myself back onto my feet and looked down at it.

The thing was now lying there, whimpering and bleeding out from the wound in its side. Morgan stood over it, clutching her weapon in her hand and staring down at her fallen opponent.

"W-What the fuck was that!?" I screamed. Morgan looked up at me and sighed, blood dripping from her katana.

"Are you alright?"

"Do I look okay!? I'm completely fucking traumatized!"

The beast continued whimpering, and Morgan looked back down at it for a moment, before lifting her weapon above her head. She stepped down on the creatures lower back and drove her katana straight into its back, finishing the job. I flinched at the sound of flesh being ripped open and more blood splashing across the ground.

Morgan was cold with her ways, she showed zero emotion on her face, as she carried out the slaughter of this thing...I could hardly believe this was the same girl I had befriended at school, just a few weeks earlier.

"We need to get out of here," she said as she slid her weapon back into its sheath.

"There will be more coming, soon."

"W-What the hell was that thing!?"

"It was a Werewolf."

What? No, she had to be joking with me...right?

"A Werewolf," I repeated, struggling to keep from laughing.

"You don't believe me?"

"You expect me to believe you?"

Morgan sighed, shaking her head and stepping away from the lifeless body of the monster. I stared down at it for a few moments, then watched in complete shock, as it suddenly began to morph into the body of a young man. I couldn't believe my eyes! He was just lying there, naked, in a pool of blood.

Just moments ago though, he had been a massive ball of fur, razor-sharp fangs, foaming at the mouth and ready to eat me alive!

"Believe me now?" Morgan asked, calmly.

Morgan and I had fled the scene as quickly as we could. I had no idea where she planned on taking me, or if there was really anywhere that was ACTUALLY safe. Why did I need to hide anyway? She had killed that thing, so what was there to fear?

Once we were deep enough into the woods, where she said was the best place to hide, Morgan proceeded to explain the lingering danger. "There are more of them."

"An entire Nest, probably dozens of them are lurking in this area...and that wasn't the only one, hunting you."

"Hunting me?"

"It's been following you for days now, Sara. There are at least three of them, who all have your scent and as long as they have your scent, they will never stop looking for you."

I couldn't believe all of this...it was crazy!

I was still struggling to accept that Werewolves were real, wrestling with the thought that this HAD to be a load of shit. At the same time, I knew what I had just seen! That thing had not been an ordinary animal and on top of that, it had changed into a human right in front of me, after Morgan killed it.

"How do you know about all of this?" I asked curiously.

Morgan smirked. "You sure you want to know?"

"I don't know," I replied nervously.

Morgan sat down on a rock and brushed a strand of black hair out of her face.

"I'm a Vampire."

Seriously? Now that, I couldn't accept.

First she tells me that a pack of fucking Werewolves is hunting me and they want to eat me. Now she tells me that Vampires are real too? No, this had to be a load of shit.

"Tell me the fucking truth," I demanded angrily.

"Why can't you accept, that this IS the truth?"

"Because, it can't be! This sort of stuff, it's not real. Vampires, Werewolves, Monsters...they are fake, Morgan. It's all made up stuff from books and movies; fantasy!"

"Unfortunately, that's not true," Morgan said.

There was a long pause and I just stood there, staring at her in disbelief. Morgan could tell, I was still having a hard time believing anything that she was saying. She stood up and stepped towards me, placing her hands on my shoulders. I watched, as she suddenly opened her mouth and hissed, her eyes flashing yellow and a set of fangs revealing themselves to me. I gasped and pulled away from her, quickly stepping back.

"No way," I shook my head. "Those are fake!"

"How can they be fake?" Morgan asked. She looked so amused by my reaction, it almost made me angry.

"There are people who have them surgically implanted; maybe you did that!"

"Not true," Morgan answered. "How do you explain my eyes?"

The only thing I could think of with that, was she had to have been wearing contacts. Somehow though, I knew in the back of my mind that this could not actually be the case.

"Afraid not."

I sighed, looking down at my feet and rubbing my forehead. I was trying really fucking hard, not to lose my cool and freak out.

"If you still don't believe me," Morgan said suddenly.

"Why don't I just take a nice bite out of you and drink you dry?"

I looked at her, startled by her suggestion. The fear showed clearly in my eyes and after a few seconds, Morgan started to laugh. I relaxed, realizing that she must have been joking.

"Sara, listen...this isn't the way I wanted you to find out. Unfortunately, this is all one hundred percent real. I would much rather be lying to you about it but, that's just not the case."

I could hear the seriousness in her voice. Morgan was being one hundred percent sincere. Something just told me, that she wasn't lying and that I had to believe every word she was saying...and I did.

Vampires were real.

Werewolves were real.

"S-So when can I go home?"

I'd had quite a crazy night and at this point, I just wanted to go home, lock myself in my bedroom and hide under the covers. Morgan looked at me sympathetically and I had a feeling, I was not going to like whatever her answer was.

"You can't go back there," Morgan said softly.

"I told you, they have your scent. They'll trace it to your house."

"All the more reason why I HAVE to go!"

Now that I knew the seriousness of the danger, I couldn't just ignore it. I knew that I was at risk of being killed but, if those things showed up at my house...dad...I couldn't let anything happen to him. "My father is there," I explained.

"I can't let them hurt him!"

"Sara, it may already be too-"

"No! Don't say it!"

I pulled away, as Morgan reached for my hand. I wasn't going to think that way, not even for a brief second. I had to get home and I had to make sure that my father was safe. I stepped away from Morgan and turned quickly, running in the direction of the nearest exit from the woods.

"Sara, wait! Come back!" I heard Morgan shouting after me.

I ignored her calls though and continued running, as fast as my legs would carry me. My heart pounding in my chest and my mind racing, the whole time that I was running. I felt sick to the stomach as I neared my house; something wasn't right.

The lights were all out, I could see that much from down the street. When I got close enough though, I noticed that the front door was wide open and that was enough to tell me that this was not going to end well. Cautiously, I stepped up to the front door and peeked inside...I couldn't see anything, because it was too dark. I knew what I had to do. I took a deep breath and stepped through the entrance, into my home. It was so quiet that I could hear my own heartbeat.

I reached for the nearest light and flipped the switch, allowing me to see just the living room.

It was a complete wreck.

The couch had been thrown across the room and the recliner, had been flipped upside down. Glass lay all over the floor and I traced it into the dining room area, where I found mom's old china cabinet, completely destroyed and turned on its side.

Underneath of the cabinet, lay a body...God no.

Please no...

I stepped closer to it, hearing the glass crack beneath my feet and as I looked down, I could tell that it was my father laying underneath of that china cabinet. Blood was rushing out from underneath of him and soaking into the carpets. I felt my legs begin to shake and they gave way, as I fell to my hands and knees. Tears filled my eyes and I started to sob, grabbing his hand and holding it tightly. This wasn't fair. This wasn't fair at all...why did this have to happen to me?

I snapped back to reality, hearing what sounded like growling coming from somewhere else in the house...those things...those monsters...I knew that they were responsible for this and I was positive, they were still in the house somewhere.

I wanted to scream, rage and slaughter them all myself.

I wasn't capable of doing that though, and I knew that. They were much larger, faster and stronger then I was and only Morgan was capable of dealing with them. Even knowing this though, I wasn't afraid...my rage kept me wanting nothing more than to stay in the house and try to fight them. If they killed me, then I didn't really care. It was me they had wanted anyway, and because of that, my father had been brutally murdered.

I heard glass cracking in the other room and quickly looked up, my eyes darting in the direction of the noise. I half expected to see one of the creatures standing there, ready to pounce on me and tear me apart. That's not what I saw though; it was Morgan.

"I told you," she said softly.

"I know you did," I said. I pushed myself up onto my feet and looked back down at my father, one last time.

"Are they still here?"

"No...but they are likely still in the area. Which means, you are still in serious danger. Sara, we need to get out of here...now."

"And go where? I can't hide out in the woods forever!"

"I'm taking you back to my house," Morgan replied.

"Mother knows the situation and is prepared to offer you protection."

"Offer me?"

"There are certain things that you may be required to do...but if you agree, then I can promise you, no harm will befall you."

I didn't know whether to trust Morgan or not, at this point.

My mind was still racing and I was struggling to accept everything that had happened tonight. Werewolves were real, they wanted to eat me and they had killed my father, just to get to me. Now I was expected to accept help from a Vampire? Wasn't that sort of like jumping out of the oven and into the frying pan?

"What exactly are you going to want from me?"

Morgan hesitated and I didn't like the way she was looking at me, like she knew that whatever conditions her mother had for me, I probably would not like them very much.

"We'll discuss it later."

"No, let's discuss it now! I'm not going with you, until we do."

"Sara, please!"

"Is she one of you too? Is your mother a Vampire too?"

I could only assume the answer would be yes. Elyse was Morgan's mother, so it seemed natural that she would likely be the same creature of darkness as Morgan was.

"My whole family are Vampires."

That was lovely.

"Elyse and my sisters, Alison and Amanda...all four of us are."

"Fucking awesome," I whispered. "So how can I trust them? I mean, Vampires are monsters too, just like Werewolves. How do I know that you aren't looking for the same thing as the wolves?"

"We aren't looking to hurt you, Sara. If you come with me...mother will likely ask for your blood, in exchange for protection."

"That's what I figured. But how am I supposed to be okay with that? I mean, don't I die if you drink my blood?"

"Not the way that Mother will do it. It's called a Blood Slave."

"Blood Slave?"

"It's something Vampires have been doing for centuries. Take a young, innocent girl and slowly drink their blood. We keep them and protect them, treating them like a guest. I went through it myself many years ago, after a similar situation to the one you are currently finding yourself in."

"What does that mean?"

"It means, that I lost my family too; just like you. They were killed by common thieves. Elyse rescued me and in exchange, I agreed to be her blood slave. Later though, she decided that she wanted me as an official member of her Coven instead...so she turned me into a Vampire."

"So, how is that a good thing?"

"Because, you will be safe! Sara, I like you. You're a good girl and I'd like to get to know you even better. But that can't happen if you are dead and trust me, if the wolves find you...you will die a most excruciatingly painful death. If you come with me, you will be treated as a guest and well looked after."

I thought about it for a while. It didn't sound ideal. In fact, I was still a bit uneasy about the whole thing. At the same time though, I knew that I couldn't defend myself against these things. So what was I supposed to do?

Reject the offer and run and hide, hoping that the wolves wouldn't find and eat me?

Or take my chances with the Vampires and hope that they wouldn't kill me or turn me into one of them...

An eerie howl echoed from somewhere in the distance and Morgan looked at me, with a look that said time was crucial. I had to make up my mind and fast, or we would probably run into those things again. There was still one question lingering on my mind, preventing me from accepting Morgan's help.

"If they have my scent...would they just come to your house looking for me?"

"They know who we are," Morgan replied. "And they are afraid of my kind...we've

been at war for centuries now. They know that stepping foot near my house would be a danger to their existence. You're safe with us because we are a threat to them."

That made sense, I figured. The decision was obvious then...I wanted to live and though there was still a chance that I was wrong, something made me think that I should trust Morgan. She hadn't lied to me so far; at least, as far as I knew.

"Fine, let's go..."

"We need to move fast," Morgan said.

She grabbed me by the hand and pulled me towards the front door. I looked back briefly at my fathers beaten and broken body, tears stinging my eyes again. I didn't want to leave him but, I knew that I had to.

Morgan pulled me out of the house and we slipped into the shadows, moving as fast as possible.

As we walked, I reached into my pocket and pulled out my cell phone...I had several text messages from a very concerned Kimberly; shit. I had forgotten all about Kimberly and the fact that I had been texting her, right before I was attacked. She was probably worried sick now and judging by her texts, she was.

Kim: Where are you!? Answer your phone, you're scaring me!

"Can I make a quick call?" I asked Morgan. She looked back at me, confused.

"To who?"

"I would advise against it," Morgan replied.

"She's not going to believe a word that you tell her about any of this. Sara, you're about to disappear off the radar and it's for your own good. What exactly do you intend to tell Kimberly, that won't lead to her just calling the police and launching an investigation into your disappearance?"

"Won't that happen anyway, once everyone realizes I'm gone?"

"Yes but...trust me, leaving Kim in the dark is for the best."

I didn't like the idea. In fact, I hated the idea. Kimberly was my best friend and she was already worried as it was but, I knew she was going to completely freak out in the days to come.

When we reached Morgan's house, she made sure to be extra cautious that no one in the neighborhood saw the two of us together. Remember, I was on the run from a pack of Werewolves...I had to completely disappear. That meant that no one, not even our neighbors or my closest friends could know where I was.

It was going to look as if I had been kidnapped or I was another of the many girls, who had gone missing, thanks to the "animal" attacks that had occurred in the area. It had to look that way though, if this plan was going to work out.

Still, I felt rather awkward, to think that I would be right under everyone's nose, while they were running around frantically searching for me.

We entered the house through the back and Morgan led me through the kitchen, into the living room area. She motioned for the couch and instructed me to sit, as she started towards the stairs that led up to the second floor. I was too pumped up with adrenaline and anxiety to sit, so instead, I simply paced back and forth across the living room floor as I waited for Morgan.

I could hear her talking upstairs and there were three other voices along with hers, all female. One of them I recognized as Elyse but, I didn't know who the other two were.

After a few very long minutes, I heard the stairs creaking, indicating that a group of people were making their way down. I looked up and sure enough, there was Morgan. Behind her was Elyse and behind Elyse were two other young girls, a couple of years older than Morgan and I...Alison and Amanda.

"Welcome, Miss Willits," Elyse said with a big smile.

"You've had quite the adventure tonight, I hear?"

"Y-Yes ma'am...I guess I have."

"I am told you have fallen prey to our greatest nemesis...the wolves are out to get you, aren't they child?"

"It looks like," I answered softly. I was beginning to settle down now and as I did, the full realization began to set in. My whole life had just been flipped upside down. Everything that I thought I knew, had been wrong all this time.

My father had been murdered and now I was hiding, my life was in danger.

I felt tears stinging my eyes and I finally decided to sit on the couch. I buried my face in my hands and began to cry. Morgan sat beside me and placed a gentle hand on my back, trying to comfort me.

"You've been through quite a lot," Elyse said, as she sat down on the recliner across from me and Morgan.

"But you are safe here, my dear."

"What about school," I asked, as I tried to calm myself down.

"People are going to start noticing that I'm missing."

"The perks of me being a teacher," Elyse smiled. "I can handle any questions that the police or faculty may begin to ask."

"How is that?"

"I have my ways," Elyse laughed.

I didn't know quite what that meant but, I took her word for it. Over the next few minutes, Elyse proceeded to explain to me in greater detail, the whole situation that we were in now.

According to her, Elyse and her family were a Coven of Vampires that had broken away from the rest of Vampire Society, a very long time ago. Vampires in general though, had been at war with Werewolves for centuries and even if her coven no longer associated with the rest of their kind, they were still a part of this war; whether they liked it or not.

So supposedly, they chose their own side in the battle.

Elyse and her Coven acted as Hunters, so to speak. They would travel from town to town, City to city, searching for packs of Werewolves and picking them off, one by one. They had been doing this for a long time now and they recently traced one pack of wolves, to this area...that's why they were there now.
