With a sigh, she dried her hands and straightened her appearance once more before leaving the bathroom. Damien was in the living room, remote control in hand as he lounged on the couch. He'd taken his jacket off and looked more relaxed than she'd ever seen him. He looked up with a smile as she sat down beside him.
"Did you have a good time?"
She smiled and nodded. He reached out and put his arm around her shoulders. With a sigh, she relaxed against his side and turned to the TV.
"You're kidding." Her tone was dry.
"What?"
She laughed. "You're watching the highlights for the game we were just at!"
"Yeah. I want to make sure I didn't miss anything."
"You're impossible."
They fell silent as the show rolled on, showing the goals and the celebrations following the game. The Leafs would be facing the Penguins in the next round once Pittsburgh finished their series against the Bruins.
Maria felt her eyelids growing heavy and stifled more than one yawn. Before she knew it, she was nodding off, warm and relaxed against Damien's side.
