"Samuel." A lulling voice cooed. "Samuel." A more urgent voice pierced through his thick fog of sleep.
"Huh?"
"The Uliassian army found us, or that's who they said they were." Samuel looked around to see empty crates in the back of the van. "Baby, are you awake?" He looked to his right and saw his wife chained up.
"Did they get the kids too?" Elizabeth looked around.
"I don't see them but there were two vans." He hung his head.
"I'm sorry. I meant-" Elizabeth cut him off.
"We have to go home. We are going to figure a way out of this." She pulled on her chains and stretched her legs to the side of the cage, kicking it. "No give." The van started slowing as she continued pulling against her chains. It finally came to a stop and doors were opened and shut.
"Elizabeth...I love you. No matter what-" The doors opened and Elizabeth recoiled from the harsh lights of the second van.
"If you struggle we will shoot you." A large man's shadow appeared in the light and moved quickly to Elizabeth's cage. "I think you'll be the one to give me more trouble." He unlocked her cage and moved in quickly, locking her wrists together before gently pulling her towards the back when he met some resistance.
"Really?" She looked at him with cold unrelenting eyes.
"I've broken both my wrists simultaneously. This," she pulled her hands up to his face. "Doesn't scare me in the slightest." She searched his face quickly for hesitation or, more importantly, fear. He let out a low whistle and two other guards climbed into the van. One held her still while the other one put a thick metal collar on her and attached it to her wrists.
"Tell me more about the this escape." He smiled and waved his boys off. They went to Samuels cage and watched him growl and his muscled tense.
"What's with this guy? Frank, go get the tranquilizer. He's going to need to be a little calmer." With that, one of the men left the truck.
"Why are you doing this to my family?"
"It's only your wife and son. You're lucky we haven't found them all, because I'd like to taste the other boy. He looks like he could choke a guy if you know what I mean." He raised his eyebrows and started laughing. "You might taste good too. I should as your wife- Oh I mean, number 3-8Q5." Samuel looked up and stared at him for a while, making him feel the pain Samuel felt until Frank came back with the tranquilizer.
"These three are go for medical evaluations." Frank said as they hauled Samuel's body out of the van.

Ami began climbing Joshua's tree.
That was a shitty night of sleep. She thought to herself once she reached his branch. "Joshua?" She looked through other branches; Joshua was nowhere to be seen. She jumped to the next tree, and then to the next until she saw Joseph asleep in his tree. "Joseph!" Joseph's eyes flew open and turned his head to Ami, who was resting comfortable on a branch in his tree.
"What?" He asked slightly annoyed.
"Mom and Dad aren't up, and they're the first to wake up, and Joshua's gone." At this his eyes widened, and he began to climb down the tree and ran for their dad's tree. Ami grabbed Joseph's backpack and followed him through the trees to see him already in their dad's tree.
"Dad's stuff is all over the ground. Maybe he fell and went to mom?" They repeated the process, but again, nobody was there. "Let's grab all of the things and then go and find Martha." Ami nodded and began going back through the trees to her dad's.
By the time she had finished picking up his supplies, Joseph was there, and took it. "Let's go." They both sprinted for Martha's tree and climbed it. "Martha?" Ami asked.
"What do you want Ami?" Ami and Joseph let out a sigh of relief.
"We don't know where the rest of the family is, mom, dad, and Joshua are missing!" At this Martha sat up.
"Let's find them." She grabbed her backpack and began climbing down the tree. Ami and Joseph followed her back to their parents' trees to see Martha examining the tree. She walked over to a wide field and stood up, scanning the tracks in and around the field, before walking and crouching next to one of them.
"They were taken by a slave transport vehicle. They will be back to find us, now come on." She began walking away from the tracks when an alarm sounded. "SHIT! RUN!" They began running and Amis' foot got caught in a trap. She was hoisted up and began screaming.
"Get me down!! Oh my god, PLEASE!" She watched as her brother and friend continued running off into the woods. She reached up to her ankle and frantically began trying to untie the not when she saw something move. She froze until she saw more people enter the field. Then she started swinging, trying to catch a branch and missing every time.
"Shit." She groaned as she felt herself being lowered. She dug into her backpack and pulled out one of the bone weapons.
She was about a foot off the ground when they approached her. They cut her free, letting her fall to the ground and walked towards her cautiously. She got to her feet quickly and charged towards the closest guy. Quickly ducking, she swept his legs and began running for the trees.
"This one will be much more fun to collect." She heard twigs cracking behind her, inspiring her to run faster and faster. She found a strong tree and began climbing quickly. "Ooohhh look! An animal!" She growled and continued until she grabbed a branch.
"Don't let the animal get away!" A sharp jolt went through her hand forcing her to let go of the branch. Ami reached for the tree but hit the ground hard. "Good shot, but don't bruise her too much."
"Well she won't bruise up easily." He started laughing. She looked around and tried pushing herself to her feet, but he quickly pushed her onto her knees. She turned and bit his hand and stood looking for another escape but when she took a step, five guns trained on her.
"No more running little monkey." She turned her head to the man speaking and looked him over. He was tall, maybe in his thirties, blond, muscularly built with piercing eyes. He portrayed an intimidating look and smirked while she looked him over before she rolled her eyes.
"I don't take orders from a racist." He thought over his words before he realized her meaning. Then he rolled his eyes and walked over to her.
"I'll call you pet, since you might find the term slave a bit offensive." He smiled and grabbed one of her hands, cuffing them together. "Come on, we've got to get you ready, your mother, father and brother all have already been ready for this slave sale."
Her eyes widened and immediately began trying to pull away from this man. He wrapped an arm around her legs and upper back and put her in the back of another slave transport. He and a friend climbed in the back of the van and Ami looked out of the doors, watching as her freedom slowly disappeared.
