"Dante, I'm sorry this has been all about me. Are you having fun with Ben and Romey? Did you catch any fish?" Peri asked worried that the call seemed like it was ending and feeling like she hadn't found out if he was happy on his fishing trip.
"It's great, I have big plans for tomorrow before I come home," he chuckled. "I can't wait to see you, but I have to go before Ben dies."
"Ben's sick?" Peri asked in a panic-stricken voice.
"Not yet but I will kill him if he doesn't stop calling me goofy," he laughed with a deep rich sound, and she could hear the rumble of male voices in the background laughing with him.
"Have fun. I love you," she grinned loving that he sounded so happy.
"I love you too," Dante said loudly into the phone and Peri listened to the continuing laughter for a few seconds before the phone went dead.
"Fucking bastards," Dante growled but couldn't help the smile that spread across his face. Dante turned on his brothers who had followed him through the salon to the other end of the yacht to tease him. "You wait until your wives get back from their little hiatus. Fuckin' jealous pricks." He swore at them through his laughter. The problem with hanging out with just men was that he had no filter where his language was concerned. He loved to curse, and it was rare he had the opportunity without someone's scowl of disapproval.
"Right who's coming ashore for a beer?" Charles asked as he entered the salon followed by Pete. He had been drawn in by the boisterous laughter and happy mood of his nephews. This trip had been sorely needed by all three of them, and he was glad to report the buoyant news to Joseph who seemed to be having issues with Josh and Peri returning home.
"You men go across, I need to talk to goofy here," Vincenzo said from behind Dante startling them all with his presence. "We'll follow you across." A meaningful look transpired between Charles and Vincenzo that the younger men pretended to ignore.
"I could stand an afternoon in an exclusive resort checking out this year's bikini styles," Romey shrugged.
"I guess you could twist my arm," Ben agreed seemly ambivalent about the option.
"You'll need my anatomical advice, of course," Pete said with a serious face. "Assuming Zio can convince the invalid to keep the weight off his leg."
"Piss off already," Dante grumbled flopping into the nearest chair. "I'm a fuckin' hero and still get no respect from the people who are supposed to love me."
"Alright let's give Super Goofy a break," Ben announced with a smirk.
"Super Goofy? I thought we'd decided on Captain Goofy?" Romey scratched his cheek thoughtfully.
"Goofy Man was what I was plumping for," Pete added to the conversation making Dante groan even louder.

Anonymousabout 5 years agoPeri's concern for Eden's future finally gives me hope that this trap of medieval misogynistic traditions and values could be reformed by the new generation. I got upset about connecting the description of the shit that is expected of women with the notion of sainthood, when at the same time they are sexually abused or groomed for sexual subservience, and I was really grossed out by the brothers who see no problem continuously having sex with women other than their wives. Their world sucks, and no wealth, power or family loyalty is worth being such bastards to women. And it really bothers me that no one in this world seems to have non-BDSM preferences, it's just too unrealistic, unless you acknowledge that they jus have been groomed for that since childhood, which means ultimately child abuse... I just cannot find legitimate justification for such treatment of women as a good thing, and since the writer is so talented, it seems legitimate to expect convincing arguments
JudyLeeover 7 years agoWell, the weekend didn't go as planned. I am proud of Josh for controlling his anger. I hope it doesn't explode with the demands of family when they were planning alone time. It's Peri who will suffer if that happens.
oneoflifesjewelsover 7 years agoI realize that both Peri and Josh will need to grow into their new up and coming roles...Yes, Josh needs to grow up a little and Peri does need to assert herself in some areas...But they also need to be let alone to be who they already are as people! They were loved for who they were before the announcement why are they being pushed to be something different? Joseph and Antonia need to lay off of who they are in their home life. Don't try and fix what wasn't broken.
Anonymousover 7 years agoOh, Ellie, how you pile on the expectations of the world upon your heroines. It is RL enough to be painful. Josh and Peri need to be there for each other, mutual support. If they are to be the new leaders, they ought to start with how and when to tell others to fuck off. And install a slide bolt high on their bedroom door as my parents had with six kids.
