She nodded and gave him a reassuring smile as she leaned in to whisper, "I did a thorough job when I checked the generators against the schematics that Irillith 'requisitioned'. The Brimorian's surprise isn't an explosive, it's definitely just a remote shut-off switch. It'll only take me five minutes to remove it."
He paused for a moment, then shook his head. "Don't take it out... not yet. Why don't we give them enough rope to hang themselves?"
Alyssa telepathically conveyed the details of his plan to the wide-eyed redhead and Dana giggled as she nodded her agreement. "I'll make the changes as soon as we're done here!"
"Thanks, honey," John said with an appreciative smile.
He turned and strode over to the rapidly diminishing piles of Eternity Crystals that Dana had carefully selected for the refit. He gathered up the two huge ones, noting that there were only a handful of the smaller ones left, then walked towards the bow of the ship with one under each arm.
*I'm back in the stealth shuttle, Master!* Jade informed him, sounding as delighted as the redhead skipping along in front of him. *I'll see you very soon!*
*Alright, we're just finishing up here,* John replied, as he approached the slots for the focusing crystals they were replacing in the Nova Lances. Unable to keep the confusion out of his voice, he continued, *You didn't ask me about any questions for the Abandoned...*
*I'm so sorry,* Jade apologised. *I ran out of time and only managed to have a very brief chat with Helene before it was time to leave.*
*It's okay, you can tell us what you found out when we meet up,* John said, his voice soothing.
The Nymph didn't sound very upset though, much to his surprise. She sounded... elated...

It is too bad that John and the girls didn't visit the Vulkat Queen a month or two earlier, then John could've had the Ashanath make few tons of Eternity Crystals, and have those crystal savvy Maliri fabricate a few 10's of thousands of improved Heat Sinks, which along with the Maliri's old/replaced power cores would massively upgrade the T-Fed fleet ships, especially if the Maliri throw in a whole bunch of their Shield Modulators, .... this would be a big but quick fleet(s) upgrade, .... all before Calara teaches her master class in how to beat your enemy, ....
-- Buckingham (crazy/snapped) is out, and John Blake is your friend, along with the mysterious Maliri, ... just wishful thinking, ... ;-) ttfn
Michael56Smith9 months agoOkay, they are in a big rush, running short on time, .... but they are also going into battle, I would think that to upgrade / reshape the CA armor a bit would pay dividends in the fight to come, ... but even another 30 minutes on the hostile planet could cost them lots of Terran lives the next day, ... so I can see why they never went that route, ... but it would've been nice, ...

Michael56Smith10 months ago... and is Jade getting rather Blaise about not really listening to John, or is she just getting really good at doing what he wants without him saying it? .... between her and the naughty Matriarch, Alyssa, those girls will drive poor John into the arms of the Maliri, ... Maybe Jade needs to be a Matriarch too, ... John already has two Matriarch's so what's one more? ;-) ttfn
Michael56Smithabout 1 year agoa complex storyline leading up to chapter #100 (milestone) and a major conflict, space battle, that will be so much fun to read, ... the Vulkat (giant Zombie Cyborg Spiders) were sad, but a delight for the crew (after her bad feelings broadcast was ceased), also, the Spider Queens gifts of all the Vulkat technology and the Eternity Crystals was just amazing, ... a really good chapter, thank you, ... ;-) TTFN
