Tom & Sue & John & Debbie Ch. 09

Coach called time out, "Sue, you're going to be a decoy. Make it look good—we'll run the picket fence with Cathy coming around and taking our last shot—they'll never see it coming! I love you girls!"

We broke the huddle and set up for the last shot. I faked as if I was taking the inbound pass drawing two defenders. Donna hit Cathy coming around Lois and Vicki's screen and Cathy let a ten-foot jumper fly as the buzzer went off. The ball swished in the net! We were Regional champs—barely—56-55!

We arrived back at the high school shortly after 11:00 PM, and it looked as if the entire town was waiting for us! The band was playing and the cheerleaders were doing their routines as the van pulled into the parking lot.

Debbie came up and gave me a hug while Jimmy and Billy were kissing their heroes.

Larry stood beside Debbie and said, "Y'all must be really good—Kansas ain't nothing like this!"

I just smiled at him, remembering what Jimmy had said!

Debbie said, "You should have heard it on the radio. Wilson called an assembly, so we all listened to the game in the auditorium. Everyone went ballistic when Cathy hit that jump shot!"

I asked, "Where are you and Larry going?"

Debbie replied, "To the Teen Center. You coming?"

I replied, "Yes, but I need to call Tom first."

I called Tom and told him we squeaked out a win 56-55. Tom answered, "It may be the best thing that could have happened having to win a tough one. The Finals won't be easy. How many points did you get?"

I answered "Twenty-four, my season low. Cathy had 20, Donna 10, and Vicki 2. I was called for four fouls—one was a 'T.' Coach got a 'T,' too—it was like Heights was getting all the calls!"

Tom asked, "What are you doing tonight?"

I replied, "Going to the Teen Center for a bit, then back home."

Tom said, "Call me before you go to bed. We'll make plans for tomorrow night after the game."

I questioned, "Are you going to drive back home for one night?"

Tom laughed, "No, I thought after the game we'd slip off and go to a motel and I'll take you home Sunday sometime—deal?"

I laughed, "Deal, but Mrs. Lilly ain't gonna like it!"

I went back to the Teen Center and danced a few dances with Jimmy. Everyone was still talking about the game.

Debbie whispered in my ear, "I kinda like Larry—he's a lot of fun."

I left the Teen Center and went home at 12:30. The phone rang. It was Debbie. "Hey, what's up?"

I said, "Going to bed. I'm tired—it was a rough game, a long tiring trip, and I just started my period!"

Debbie said, "BUMMER! Sally will be at the game tomorrow, but not Steve. He wants to stay away from me until things have cooled off completely.

"I told Sally about the game tonight and my date with Larry!

"Larry is not like John at all—really shy, but I like him. He'll be a good prom date—plus he's cute!"

I laughed, "And a quarterback, right?"

Debbie said, "Shut up and go to bed, bitch! See you tomorrow!"

I called Tom and told him the good/bad news I'd started my period! We'd have to cancel the motel for the following night.

Tom replied, "Oh well, I'll reserve it next weekend—the semis for your bracket will be played at State. Go to sleep—see you at Central tomorrow!"

Our bus was scheduled to leave for Central at 9:30. The booster club had chartered three buses for Dragon Club members and numerous other fans would be making the trip in private automobiles.

Ma and pop were going with the Dragon Club along with Elizabeth and William. Mom and Dad would be driving.

The pep rally before we left was awesome! Debbie and the cheerleaders doing their routines, the band playing, and the community along with the student body cheering as the unbeaten Regional champion Lady Dragons boarded the 'yellow hound' for the two-hour trip to Central with the Area championship at stake.

Tom and Sally were outside the gym to greet us as the bus pulled in.

Sally said, "Don't let me down Sis—tear up those nets today," and gave me a big-sister hug.

Sally smiled at Debbie, "You too, Baby Sis—cheer your sweet ass off," as big sis gave little sis a big hug.

Sally then looked Debbie in the eyes, "Sis, cutting it off 'cold turkey' is the only way it could be done—you were falling for Steve.

"You'll get over him as soon as John gets out!"

Debbie muttered, "I know, but it was good while it lasted!"

Sally smiled, "I agree, but we have to get back to reality! Nothing good would have come of this if the fling would have continued."

Debbie sighed, "I'll miss his 'ba-bumps' and his tongue!"

Sally laughed, "Like I'll miss John's 'big hog leg' and that other guy's 'Saint Bernard' licks," while smiling at Tom.

Debbie sighed, "Oh yes, that 'other guy.' I'll never forget that night and what might have been..."

I interrupted, "Hate to be a spoilsport, but I have a game to play, and the 'other guy' ain't available to either of y'all—EVER AGAIN!"

Tom just stood by my side with a sheepish grin on his face. I grabbed his arm while pulling him away as we walked toward the gym.

Debbie took Sally to introduce her to Larry who had just arrived with Jimmy and Billy.

Central's gym was packed with more than 4700 fans cheering for the Lady Dragons and North Central Lady Tigers for the Area championship—the winner would make the Final Four!

Debbie and the other cheerleaders were really shaking those tits and rolling their booties as the band played the Dragon fight song. Sally was watching from courtside, coaching Debbie on how to improve her booty rolls! This was the first time this year Sally had a chance to see Debbie shake her tits and roll her booty during a game!

Anticipation filled the air as tip off was nearing, when the public address system announced, 'Final score from NCAA Women's Sweet Sixteen in double overtime: Bears 78, State 77.'

I threw the ball angrily against the court in disgust as everyone stood with their mouths open. Tom immediately came onto the court and grabbed me, "Damnit there is nothing you can do about that game—you have to be under control today! It's the Area championship!"

Tom gave me a hug and went back to the bleachers behind our bench, giving me a thumbs up.

Today was our day, unlike the previous game at Western. Maybe it was the urge to excel, since State lost their first game of the season, or a burning desire to be a champion as the Lady Dragons won the Area championship 72-55.

I led the scoring with 31, Cathy had 23, while Donna added 18. Vicki pulled down 14 boards. Lois blocked four shots and pulled down 12 boards as the third-ranked Lady Dragons for the first time in school history were going to the Final Four of the State tournament!

Everyone was waiting outside our locker room to congratulate us on the big win—Area Champs! Tom and I walked hand-in-hand back to the 'yellow hound,' as he kissed me good-bye, "Call me when you get home—I'll get our room reserved for next Saturday night!"

We kissed good-bye one more time as I boarded the bus.

The bus was rocking on the way back home. Cathy yelled at Donna, "Hey, how big is your guy's deformed cock?"

Donna yelled back, "Shut up bitch! It ain't deformed!"

Debbie joined in, laughing, "Hmm... My John is 7-1/2 and 6 around, and Steve is 6-1/2 and 5-1/2 around."

Donna and Cathy looked shocked, "What?"

Debbie, realizing she put her foot in her mouth again, said, "Sally told me that was what Steve was—I did see it one time in New Orleans when John and I walked into the room when they were fucking.

Debbie quickly followed up, "Cathy, how big is Jimmy's cock?"

Cathy with a big grin, "He's big enough for me!"

I laughed, "Y'all are crazy—let me get some sleep. I'm tired and cramping," as I drifted off into a short nap, dreaming of Tom and me when we'd be together next year at State.

The bus pulled into the parking lot at the high school around 9:45, and once again, we had a welcome home party from the student body, Dragon Club members, and our community! A short pep rally took place and most went to the Teen Center or lake while I went home and called Tom.

"Hey made it home. What are you doing?"

Tom replied, "I talked with John tonight and I'm going to visit him tomorrow. He was really in a good mood tonight. He wants us to come see him after the game next Saturday. What are you going to do tonight?"

I replied, "Going to bed. I'm tired, cramping, and next week we have to be ready—we'll play the second-ranked Titans at State on Saturday afternoon. You do have our room for Saturday night?"

Tom laughed, "First thing I did when I got back to the dorm! Think we need to ask Mrs. Lilly for her permission?"

I laughed, "Go to bed you dumb jock! Tell John I said, 'Hello,' and yes, we'll come see him and I'll tell Mrs. Lilly when the time is right!"

Tom asked, "What about Debbie?"

I answered, "I'll ask her, and let you know tomorrow morning. Good night Love you!"

The phone rang at 1:20 AM. I was sleeping soundly and it was Debbie, "Hey, wake up! I've got to tell you something sooo sooo good!"

I muttered, "What is it—can't it wait till morning?"

Debbie shouted "NO! John called me tonight and we talked for over an hour just about US! I'm going to visit him next Sunday!"

I questioned, "Sunday?"

Debbie said, "Yes."

I replied, "Tom said Saturday night after our game we were going?"

Debbie laughed, "No, John will tell Tom tomorrow—it's Sunday!

"Think I can stay at State with you Saturday night? Not in the motel with y'all, but with someone?"

I laughed, "Sure, what about Larry?"

Debbie replied, "Larry is just a guy to date. I told him tonight, 'We'll go out, but don't get attached to me,' because I have deep feelings for John."

I questioned," What did he say?"

Debbie laughed, "No problem. He has the same feelings for Linda—just hoped they could get back together."

I was laughing, "So that means Larry isn't your third fuck? He's a quarterback!"

Debbie laughed, "NO! My third fuck won't be a quarterback..."

Debbie quickly stopped, "I mean there won't be a third fuck if John and I get back together. Go back to sleep. Talk with you in the morning!"

I knew down deep inside my best girlfriend had not forgotten about that night when the 'perfect plan' backfired on us. Why did I ever let Debbie talk me into that fiasco!

Tom called Saturday night and his visit with John was great, and yes, we'd all go to visit John on Sunday. Sally would come to State for our game and she and Debbie would go out on the town with Angie and Jamie, teasing the frat-rats at the Horseshoe!

We were all in the commons before school when Coach came by, "Sue, need to see you in my office."

I replied, "OK."

Coach sat behind his desk, "Sue, you've made First Team All State and the MVP for Area 2. Wilson will call an assembly first period to congratulate our team and to recognize your incredible accomplishments. I'm so proud of you—you've been like a third daughter to me all these years," while wiping a tear from his eyes.

Coach regained his composure, "Nancy Howard of the Titans also made First team All State and MVP for Area 1. The media will play this up as Sue vs Nancy."

I grinned at Coach, "I know Nancy. She's going to State with us and we'll room together. Don't worry Coach—we'll play as a team like we have all season."

Coach gave me a daughter hug as I left his office.

Principal Wilson called the assembly and honored the Lady Dragons and me before the student body.

Tom called Monday night, "So how did your day go?"

I replied, "Great. We had an assembly honoring us for making the Final Four!"

I didn't tell him about me making All State or Area MVP—returning the favor as he forgot to tell me about All Conference and freshman of the Year—instead, he let me read it in the paper!

Tom was laughing, "So that's all the assembly was about?"

I replied, "Yes."

Tom continued laughing, "Jones has already let the cat out of the bag. Congratulations on First Team All State and Area MVP!"

I sighed, "Dang, I wanted to surprise you like you did me—read it in the paper!"

Tom laughed, "Eddie Simmons is already giving me jabs about you vs Nancy in the game. MVP vs MVP!"

I questioned, "Why? Did Eddie go to school at Northwest?"

Tom laughed, "Yes, Eddie and Nancy were high school sweethearts. They broke up just before he came to State last fall. They started dating again during Christmas break and are still dating."

I now knew why Nancy decided to switch from Stanford to State!

"You practice hard this week—the winner goes to the Finals!"

The week seemed to roll by as anticipation was building, for not only our game vs the Titans, but for Jimmy's quarterfinal wrestling matches.

Jimmy and Coach Perk left Thursday morning for Southwestern and Jimmy's quarterfinal matches.

Principal Wilson came on the loud speaker before sixth period, "Coach Perkins just called to inform me Jimmy won his first quarterfinal match with a 6-0 decision over a University recruit. He'll wrestle for the Area quarterfinal championship tomorrow afternoon."

Jimmy was only the second Dragon to ever wrestle for the Area quarterfinal championship!

Everyone was excited and gave Cathy high five's and hugs. Jimmy had won his second state tournament match against a University recruit—so much for University offering him a 'try-out!'

Tom called Thursday night and I told him about Jimmy. I was going to bed when the phone rang, "Hey roommate, you ready for Saturday?"

I laughed, "Jamie, how are you?"

Jamie replied, "Doing great—we had a tough one losing to the Bears in double OT. You and Nancy are the highlight of this week's reports about the big game. Jones is like a 'kid in a candy store,' since both of you are coming to State!"

I replied, "I know. They've been hounding me all week."

Jamie answered, "Remember what Angie and I have taught you about those 'special' moves—don't use them unless you have to. You've been practicing them, right?"

I answered, "Yes. Every day."

Jamie said, "Great. I'll see you Saturday! Angie and me will be helping out Coach Stafford during the game."

Friday finally arrived! The big game was the next day. All the practice and preparation ended on Friday. The pep rally was scheduled for sixth period.

Principal Wilson came on the loud speaker and announced an assembly just before the end of fifth period. Everyone went to the auditorium as Principal Wilson took the stage.

"Coach Perkins called the high school a few minutes ago, and Jimmy lost his bid to become an Area Quarterfinal champion, losing on riding time to the State's top-ranked wrestler who will join Jimmy next year at State. The match was tied 3-3 at the end of regulation, but Jimmy lost by 5 seconds on riding time.

"Coach Perkins could not have been more proud of the effort Jimmy gave—he left everything he had on the mat.

"State's wrestling coach was in attendance and congratulated Jimmy on a great season and looked forward to him becoming a wrestler at State."

The student body began a chant. 'Jimmy... Jimmy...,' as tears filled Cathy's eyes and started rolling down her cheeks.

I grabbed Cathy by the arm, remembering what Tom told me, "There's nothing you can do about Jimmy's match. Be proud of what he accomplished! YOU have a game to play tomorrow—the winner goes to the Finals!"

Cathy wiped away her tears, "I'll be ready—count on it!"

The pep rally started slow, then Debbie got things rocking with some new moves Sally had taught her as she rolled her booty and shook her tits to the delight of the student body. Shouts of 'Debbie... Debbie...,' could be heard throughout the auditorium!

The pep rally got into high gear as Debbie and the cheerleaders did their thing and the band played the Dragon fight song.

Principal Wilson took center stage as the pep rally was ending, "The booster club has chartered four buses for tomorrow. The team will leave the high school parking lot at 9:30. There will be a send-off pep rally beginning at 9:00."

I went home and called Tom, leaving a message, since he was in football practice.

Everyone gathered at the Teen Center around 7:30 and welcomed Jimmy back giving him hugs and pecks on the cheeks. Cathy had more in store for him later in the evening!

Donna and I left the Teen Center early while Debbie and Cathy were still dancing and enjoying the evening. I smiled at Cathy, "Remember you have a big game to play tomorrow."

Donna quickly added, "Yeah, Jimmy don't make her sore tonight."

Jimmy just grinned as Cathy snapped back at Donna, "Have you ever had the big 'O' yet? Maybe your boyfriend needs some lessons!"

We all laughed as we were leaving the Teen Center.

Larry told Debbie, 'Kansas ain't nothing like this!'

Tom called me at 10:00 and I told him Jimmy lost in riding time. Tom mentioned, "You'll have lot of support tomorrow at the game. Rip those nets!"

The send-off pep rally was awesome as we boarded a charter Greyhound bus for the trip to State—no 'yellow hound' for the Area champions today!

Debbie whispered as we took our seats, "I can't wait to see John tomorrow. I talked to him again last night!"

I grinned at her, "So what are you doing tonight?"

Debbie giggled, Sally and me are going out with Angie and Jamie... We're taking Larry along too!"

I just smiled, "Y'all are going to give that poor Kansas farm boy a heart attack! Now let me think about this game!"

As the Greyhound drove toward State's campus, I watched Dragon fans pass and honk, seeing banners, 'Take State! Go #23!' I remembered when I was a sophomore and rode to the State championship football game with Elizabeth and William to watch the Dragons win the State title—I only knew Tom Sanders by name. Now two years later I was in love with him!

The Greyhound pulled into State's restricted parking area and we got off the bus. Tom, Sally, Mickey, Jenny, Jamie, Angie, Mary Ann, and many other Dragon fans were there to watch us play.

I greeted everyone, and Mary Ann said, "Dragon pride today Sue—once a Dragon always a Dragon," as she gave me a good luck hug.

Tom escorted me into the gym, "Rip those nets today babe," giving me a good luck kiss as I entered the locker room.

Coach came into the locker room after we got dressed, "Ladies—listen up, Jamie and Angie will be joining us on the bench as volunteer coaches. Listen to them!

"There's a big crowd out there today—8,500—remember the goal is ten feet high just like at our gym back home and the court is the exact same measurements. Don't let the crowd or size of the arena intimidate you—stay focused and play 'our' game. Sue, Donna, and Cathy—this is what you've worked for since the 7th grade. Make me proud of y'all today!"

We entered the court to the sounds of cheers and the Dragon band playing our fight song while Debbie and the cheerleaders did their routines. The band kept playing the Dragon fight song all during warmups. Debbie kept the cheers going as did the Titan faithful. Electricity filled the air—butterflies were dancing in my stomach as the ref called for the captains.

I approached mid court as did Nancy we grinned at each other as the ref said, "Captain Andrews meet Captain Howard."

I smiled, "How you doing Nancy?"

Nancy replied, "Great Sue."

The ref asked, "You all know each other?"

Nancy laughed, "Yes sir. We'll be teammates and roommates at State next season."

The ref answered, "OK—let's have a good clean game and good luck to both the Dragons and Titans."

Nancy and I hugged each other as tip off was just around the corner!

The State's #2 and #3 ranked teams were about to begin play for the right to play in the finals!

The Titans controlled the tip and immediately passed the ball to Nancy who proceeded to make Lois look like an eighth grader as she swished the nets from twenty feet out.
