Click hereSighing, Acheron lay back on the bed and he threaded his fingers behind his head. He stared at the wooden ceiling above him and he knew that he wasn't going to be able to get any sleep. It wasn't like he needed it though. He was a Demon and sleep was truly optional. He could sleep later, when he'd gotten out of the Whispering Jungle and was on his way to the next province. His journey was almost through with only two more places to go: the Shadowland and the Open Plains.
The Chaos Demon knew nothing of either of these provinces or the people that lived there. He only hoped that they were good people and would join him like everyone else. That was all he wanted on this journey anyway: to find allies that would help him combat the Dalkian army that would come after him eventually.
Acheron was looking forward to it.
XXXXXXXXXX
Early next morning found Acheron standing with other Star Elves that he didn't know. Ahead of them, standing about five to ten steps in front of them was the thirteen Warrior Lords and the Star Elf King. They had all drawn their weapons and was gathering magic around their blades. It was a beautiful sight, different colors surrounding their weapons and shimmering in the air. The fourteen men had gathered themselves in a circle, facing one another as they chanted the words of the ancient spell.
The Chaos Demon watched on with awe and respect. Their magic was powerful and seemed to thrum throughout the entire area. It was like a living entity, fighting to get out and wreak havoc, but the men were keeping the magic from doing what it desired.
Then, the last word was spoken and they rose their weapons. The sound of metal screeching together as the fourteen weapons clanged together filled the area and blasts of different colored energy flew up into the air. There seemed to be a shimmering veil all around them that became more and more obvious as the energy flowed directly up into the sky. Then, the veil split and broke apart just as the energy stopped flowing from their weapons.
Looking around, the Command Assassin realized something. This was most definitely the Mortal Plane, the ethereal nature of the mirror dimension having been destroyed. He turned his head and he noticed that the village huts of the Star Elf village had reappeared in the same place that they'd been in the mirror dimension. It would seem that everything had transferred and he found himself smiling before he could curb the impulse to do so.
He heard the sounds of weapons sheathing and he turned his attention to the fourteen men once again. They'd sheathed their weapons and most of them were disappearing into the crowd once more. However, the King himself wasn't disappearing into the crowd. Instead, he was walking right towards him with an intent look on his face and he found himself straightening his back, his spine ramrod straight. He didn't know why he did this, but he didn't have time to think about that.
The Star Elf stopped in front of him and stared up into his eyes. He stared back, his emerald green eyes filled with boredom, though he was curious. What exactly did the man want? The mirror dimension had been destroyed and it was time for him to leave. The Star Elf knew this so why was he standing in front of him, seemingly confronting him about something?
"I wanted you to have this." Taro said suddenly and he reached behind his back. The Chaos Demon stared, wondering what the man was getting and was surprised when the man pulled a small bundle of clothing from behind his back. There wasn't much of it there, but it was long and curved around something within. Taro stared at it for a moment before holding it out to him. "We took this off of your body when we found you. I didn't tell you, but we've been having our master blacksmith working to make this for you as a sort of gift. I hope that you like it."
Frowning at his words, Acheron took the bundle of cloth and he was surprised by the weight of the thing inside. He could feel the long curve of it and he found himself wondering just what it was. There was only one way to find out so he grabbed the fold of the cloth and he pulled it open. He stared at the item within and blinked a couple of time, not sure what he was seeing was correct.
It was a rather large sheathed dagger. The hilt and guard were a dull black. The sheath was obviously made of some sort of thick and sturdy wood. Allowing the cloth to slip from his fingers, he gripped the hilt and he drew the weapon, the blade ringing free. He held the dagger in front of his face and he ran his gaze over the wicked looking, razor sharp dagger. The blade was silver and white, but there were strange ridges to it that no iron or steel could've made. Then, it hit him.
They'd made the dagger from the Dragon scale that he'd taken from that Snow Dragon when he was back in the Tundra. They'd taken the scale and had had it forged into a dagger. Smiling at the blade, he realized that he now had two very powerful weapons. The Diamond Blade sword that could slice through anything, including diamond itself and now a Dragon scale dagger.
Grinning widely, the Command Assassin lowered the blade and sheathed it. Without saying a word, he strapped the long dagger to his right hip and he looked up, right into the eyes of the other man. He was staring at him, a smile on his face and his arms crossed over his chest. He looked rather pleased with himself and he should. He'd taken the Dragon scale and he'd done something with it that he never would've.
"Thank you, my friend." Acheron said, his gratitude showing through in his voice. The other man smiled and nodded his head. He nodded back and then he started to make his rounds, shaking hands with the men he knew and hugging the women that he knew. After several minutes of this, he was finally done and he straightened away, looking at the rest of the Star Elves.
He stood at the head of the large group and he smiled. Then, he bowed his head low to them, showing them his respect for them. The said nothing as he straightened up and he stared at them for a moment. Turning away, he gathered his strength in his legs and he exploded into motion, running from the Whispering Jungle heading towards the south.
Heading towards the Shadowland.
Have read all three stories and have found them great however you repeat a lot too much in fact about the background of your characters and find it distracting. Seems to be no balance with the emperor and Acheron as well just small bits for the emperor. Otherwise a good read.
I was glad to see this installment wow it took me three days to get it read but it was worth it totally. Now I can see why it is so long between chapters, looking forward to the next with baited breath.
