Unconventional Theft Ch. 05

"I'm sure if Kono wanted us to know she would tell us herself," Alex said, trying to calm the situation before Kono threw Meg through a wall.

"It's fine," Kono smiled, her eyes shifting from Meg to Alex as her expression softened. She stood up and pulled up the back of her T-shirt as two large feathered wings exploded from her back. They were nothing like the demonic wings Meg had. Instead they had long grey feathers that formed into sharp points at their tips.

"Wow," Ashley muttered.

"I knew it! That explains why you were so easily able to kick me into that wall," Meg chuckled as Kono retracted her wings and dropped her T-shirt back into place.

"How did you know?" Kono asked.

"When you said you didn't need a source of magic. I've never met a Valkyr before but I've heard rumors. While demons of all types require a source of magic to cast anything more than basic spells, Valkyr are able to summon and store much more magic from the world around them but I don't know why," Meg conceded.

"Because it wouldn't be very good if they were in the middle of a battle and ran out of power now would it," Corvac answered from the doorway.

"Do you just lurk in doorways all the time or what?" Ashley asked as he entered the room.

"I heard you talking and didn't want to interrupt. Anyway, Valkyr can spend weeks at a time on the battlefield, so requiring them to leave to recharge would be quite inefficient so instead they have the ability to draw magic from the environment at a much higher rate than anyone else which makes them incredibly dangerous," Corvac grinned looking at Kono who stuck her tongue out in response.

"So how does a Valkyr become a demon?" Alex asked.

"The same way an angel does. Valkyr are angels, just of a different type, when one falls from grace it's no different. That's why our skin is red or purple, it's part of the process of falling. Marks us as betrayers of heaven," Corvac sighed.

The group spent the rest of the day talking about demons and magic. Ashley was fascinated by everything they were saying where as Alex was more concerned with each new fact he learned. After a while Ashley asked a question that he was surprised he had not thought to ask himself.

"So what exactly are heaven and hell?" Ashley asked.

"Ah I was wondering when we would get to that. As I'm sure you've heard, heaven is where all the good people go and hell is where the bad souls are sent to burn for all eternity. That's not quite accurate, more a bed time story religious folk use to scare people into behaving. Hell was created by Lucifer. He wanted to prove he was as worthy to follow as God was so created his own opposite version of heaven. He wanted to give demons a place to live where they didn't have to co-exist with humans," Corvac explained.

"A first it wasn't bad, it was much like heaven but as Lucifer and his more devout followers watched as God and the angels fawned over humans they grew more jealous. They decided to prove just how corruptible and evil humans could be and began to entice them into committing horrendous acts. When that didn't work they blamed the humans themselves and began punishing them, dragging them into hell and torturing them," Corvac continued.

"So why didn't God stop them, surely he is powerful enough?" Ashley asked.

"He is but he doesn't work like that. No-one is quite sure why he never stepped in but the prevailing theory is that he believed in humanity so much that he wanted to let them try and corrupt them, just to prove that overall humanity is good and would resist their attempts. If that's what he was doing then he was right, despite many falling to evil, most of humanity is made of good people," Corvac finished.

"So is that where the stories of bad people being sent to hell came from?" Ashley asked.

"I guess so. Those who have been corrupted to the very core of their soul are beyond redemption. Heaven won't take them so they spend eternity in hell. Although most don't spend it burning in hell fire like the stories would lead you to believe. It's extremely rare for a soul to be rejected from heaven, only those who have committed horrific acts out of malice tend to find themselves stuck in hell," Corvac answered.

"Well that both terrifies and reassures me," Alex chuckled.

"As it should. Hell is a terrible place that never want to visit," Meg chimed in.

"I think I'll stick to staying on Earth thanks," Ashley chuckled.

"Wise idea. Anyway, tomorrow should be interesting," Corvac said trying to change the conversation. He didn't like to dwell on the past.

"Why what's happening? Who are you meeting?" Alex was the one who answered.

"Someone I haven't seen in a very long time. Irina," Corvac replied causing Kono's eyes to almost pop out of her head.

"No!" Kono gasped.

"It's our only choice," Corvac consoled her.

"Wait who's Irina?" Alex asked.

"An old friend of mine and Kono. Although we haven't seen her since we fell," Corvac answered.

"Wait is she an angel?" Ashley gasped.

"Yes, one of the only ones who was willing to meet with me to," Corvac sighed.

"I don't get it, surely if they knew Azalith was trying to free Lucifer they would want to help stop that?" Ashley grumbled.

"Not really, they don't really care if he gets free. As long as he doesn't threaten heaven they will just ignore him," Corvac replied.

"I think I've changed my mind about coming with you," Meg piped up.

"Too bad, you're coming anyway," Corvac smiled and Meg went to protest when he cut her off. "How has she been anyway? I assume this mornings antics were her doing?"

"Yep," Alex confirmed.

"Well not just her, I did help too," Ashley countered.

"Except this morning, she's been fine," Kono joined in.

"I am right here you know," Meg complained as the group discussed her.

"Well maybe we can trust you after all," Corvac smiled.

"Does that mean you'll unbind me?" Meg asked hopefully.

"Not just yet, we'll see how you get on tomorrow," he grinned, enjoying the look of annoyance on her face.

The rest of the day was spent talking about much more mundane topics. Alex got the feeling that no-one wanted to discuss what was coming. Despite everything being relatively calm so far, they knew things would get much worse before this was over. He hated feeling so powerless. As much as he didn't want to be involved he already was and was annoyed there wasn't anything he could do to actually help. He denied Ashley's attempts to get intimate as they went to bed and fell asleep brooding over his lack of power.

By the time they woke up the next morning Corvac and Meg had already left. They found Kono sitting in front of the television but she didn't seem to be watching it and was just staring off into space.

"Are you ok?" Alex asked making Kono jump slightly.

"What? Yeah sorry I didn't notice you come in," she replied.

"What's wrong? Is it this Irina person?" Alex guessed to which Kono nodded.

"Who is she?" He asked.

"She was as close to my sister and an angel can get," Kono answered.

"I suppose I've never thought about that. Do angels not have families then?" Alex asked.

"No. We're not born like humans are, we were created. We don't get born, grow and have families like humans. We just popped into existence one day when god created us. That didn't mean we couldn't fall in love and want families but that was impossible. No-one knows why we were created like that, with the ability to want but never able to have which was part of the reason some chose to follow Lucifer instead of God. They resented him for it, especially when he gave humans the ability to have families," Kono sighed looking sad.

"I understand that. So I guess you made your own the best way you could," Alex replied.

"Yeah, Irina and I were inseparable whenever I was in heaven. When she found out I had fallen she resented me for it," Kono replied as her eyes welled up. It was obviously not something she had thought about for a long time.

"Well maybe this will be your chance to reconcile?" Alex suggested.

"It's a nice thought but I doubt it," Kono replied. She shuffled over so she was sitting next to Alex and rested her head on his shoulder. "Thankyou," she whispered.

"You're welcome," he replied. They sat quietly for a little while watching TV but Alex could feel Kono subtly shuffle every few seconds, as if she was about to speak then decided not to.

"Can I ask you something?" She asked finally.

"Sure, what's up?" He replied with a smile.

"About earlier... This morning... Aren't you embarrassed by it?" She asked, blushing slightly.

"Not really, it's not the first time I've been in a situation like that," Alex admitted.

"Really?" Kono asked surprise in her voice.

"No, that's actually how we got into this whole mess," Alex laughed. They spent the next hour talking about everything Alex had done in the past from magical artifacts to sexual exploits and his relationship with Ashley. Ashley even came in the room and joined in the conversation, filling in any gaps Alex missed and making jokes at his expense but Alex gave it back just as well.

"I'm jealous," Kono admitted as they finished one of their stories.

"Why?" Alex asked.

"You two are so in love yet so open to talking about and even having sex with other people, sometimes right in front of each other. I don't know if I could ever be that comfortable around someone I could act like that," Kono blushed.

"What about this morning? You didn't seem to shy then," Ashley pointed out.

"That was different, I was in Alex's body so was more susceptible to Megs influence than I normally would. Without that influence I'd have probably run out of the room," Kono replied.

"Well what about if it's just us?" Ashley asked, moving over from the chair she was sat in to in front of Kono. She knelt down, resting her knees on the edge of the sofa as she leaned over and grabbed Konos face, pulling her into a kiss. Kono froze, unsure what to do as she felt Ashley's tongue probe into her mouth. Part of her wanted to run but another wanted to be courageous and learn to have fun and be less uptight all the time. Ashley smiled as she felt Kono's tongue snake out to meet her own and they kissed for almost a minute before Ashley pulled away. Kono's face was flushed but this time not from embarrassment.

"How do you manage to always do this?" Alex asked with a bemused grin.

"Do what?" Ashley replied innocently.

"Make every conversation lead to you making out with someone?" Alex replied.

"It's a talent! Besides, don't say you don't enjoy it," Ashley replied, reaching over to stroke his cock which she knew was already hard from the bulge in his pants. She retracted her hand and giggled before standing up straight. "Well I'm going to get a shower."

"That's just cruel," Alex complained as Ashley walked out of the room. Kono was watching her in awe as she left.

"She's so confident," Kono commented after a moments silence.

"She is. It's part of why I love her but she doesn't half push boundaries sometimes," Alex chuckled.

"I can tell," Kono replied.

"Anyway, you've heard a lot about us. Now it's your turn, how did you feel being me this morning?" Alex teased. Kono looked down at the floor, which Alex had noticed she did a lot.

"It was fun," Kono admitted. "I've never tried being a man before."

"Well maybe if you ask nicely, I'll let you borrow my body again sometime," Alex joked as he stood up. "Want something to eat?"

"Yes please, I'm starving," Kono smiled, happy that the conversation had moved away from her. She followed him into the kitchen and they began cooking dinner as Ashley had her shower. She appeared wearing only a towel just as the food was ready and they sat down for dinner. As they ate Alex noticed the Kono didn't seem to be able to keep her eyes off Ashley.
