Authors Note:

First, I want to apologize to all of you. I am beyond sorry for making you wait THIS long. I know how annoying and frustrating it is waiting and waiting for a chapter to be posted. With this said, I really don't have much of an explanation. To be honest, I simply lost my inspiration/muse/focus...whatever you want to call it. It seemed like I was stuck at this point of the story—where I had simply no idea how to proceed. I know what 'should' be written in this chapter—I just didn't know how to tell/describe it for all of you to enjoy the read. I didn't want to just post out a chapter—and for all of you to be completely disappointed in it.

I believe I found a little inspiration (many thanks to my reader's emails and messages) and also to my sister—since this is the only way to shut her up finally, because she is just dying to know what's going to happen to her in the story (lol).

So, without further ado, I hope you enjoy this everyone... :)

Chapter 20

Angel started to head out to the barn. She smiled down at the bag of treats she just had to go back for Cadifor and Aislinn. This routine of hers became so important to her in a very short time, that without it, she thought that she may blow up on more people in her pack. Being a were and also pregnant didn't mix too well. Her hormones were going completely wild. And riding either Cadifor or Alainn helped vent some of those crazy emotions.

As Angel made her way back to the barn, she called out to Isobel, "Ok, finally I'm here. I swear, I think I am walking slower and slower each day. If I begin to waddle like a damn penguin, please just sh...". Angel paused and looked around. At first she didn't see Isobel where she should have been.

"Hey dork! Where did you go now?" Angel continued to look around the barn. After a few minutes, she said, "If you're planning on popping out and trying to scare the shit out of me, I should warn you, that you are about to pop out at a hormonal wolf that will probably go ape shit on you".

Still nothing.

Angel just shrugged it off. "That bitch! She left me after asking to come along for the ride."

Angel went back to Cadifor and Alainn.

"So which two horses have been good today?" she asked them.

Angel couldn't help but smile when it seemed like Cadifor was stumping his one foot. "Yes yes yes. I know Cadifor. You're just a perfect Angel, right?" Again Cadifor stumped his foot. Angel shook her head. "That's not what I heard today from the help—especially when they tried to put reins on you."

Cadifor just stood still, staring at Angel. Angel couldn't help but laugh. "Yes, of course I heard about that! And of how you grabbed the harness and tossed it aside; and then began to chase the poor guy. I know you have a rep to protect, but could you not try and be a little civilized?"

Again Cadifor did not move a muscle. Just continued to stare at Angel—as if he was thinking over what she said.

Angel then added, "for me sweety? I am not telling you to be a push over and be easy to handle—because that's just not you. But if they are trying to put the reins on you, that's because either I or Cullen requested it. Besides, if Cullen hears from others that you are too dangerous, he may restrict me from coming to see you. Now do you really want that?"

This time Cadifor neighed loudly and shook his head.

"That's what I thought. So be at least somewhat civil, and I will be able to continue coming here and giving you both goodies. Now, let me get you saddled, and we can go for a ride. I'm sorry Alainn, due to your pregnancy I am afraid of putting the saddle on you. You can still come with us—since we have to go slow because of me as well—but at least we all can get out of here for a little bit."

With that, Angel slowly got up and seated herself on Cadifor, holding onto the reins lightly. There was no need to hold on tightly, because today they were going to go on a slow pace. As she was exiting the barn Angel sent Cullen a message, 'You can tell Owen that he better tell Izzy that I am upset with her! She stopped and asked to go for a ride with me, and then she doesn't. She really needs to learn how to make up her mind. Ok sweetie, I am off now. I won't be out long tonight'.

Angel took off into the night—enjoying the sweet gentle breeze against her face. Yup, she knew that she could get used to doing this for the rest of her life.

-------------------------------------

Cullen just shook, laughing slightly. He knew that Angel tried to pretend that she was upset, but there was no way that she could be upset with Izzy.

"I have a message for you Owen from our sweet Angel," said Cullen while having a smirk on his face.

"For me?" Owen was a little bit perplexed why he would be getting a message from Angel through Cullen. "What does she want or need?"

Smiling, Cullen continued trying to use a voice that a little boy would use, "Angel told me to tell you to tell Izzy that she is upset with her."

Both men just busted out laughing. If anyone walked into the room, they would have seen Cullen leaning back in his chair, holding his stomach. While they would be seeing Owen bent over laughing so hard tears were coming from his eyes.

Once they had calmed down slightly, Owen wiped the tears that formed from laughing so hard and said, "I will be sure to tell her that."

Cullen just shook his head. "Can you just imagine how they will be once you get Izzy pregnant?"

Owen thought for a moment. He couldn't help but smile at the thought. "I simply can't wait for the day when she is. Just the thought of her getting round with my cubs," Owen faded off while in his own thoughts.

Cullen again chuckled. "Let's get back to focus at what is in front of us, and then you can run off to your mate before Angel gets a hold of her. "

Owen seemed to come back to reality at that. "Ok, so basically we narrowed down the list. We tried to look at everyone that could possibly want to hurt you or Angel—or both. The motive obviously is power."

Cullen growled. "Tell me something I haven't figured out already! Don't tell me after all this time; my betas were only able to figure out this much information?" Cullen demanded.

"You need to understand that this is not like any other situation. Usually in the past, when someone wanted to have you removed, they always made it known—which resulted in many of our past wars. There were a few times, where our past enemies were stealthy, but we managed to always figure out their intentions. I admit Cullen, this is completely different. Why go after Angel when the person can just go after you?"

"Because everyone knows Angel is my only weakness," Cullen pointed out something that should have been common sense.

"Yes, but eliminating Angel doesn't reach them to their goal. They still need to take those extra steps—further planning and actually completing the task of getting rid of you. Why do all this extra work, when it would be easier to just get rid of you and take over?"

Cullen sat there for a moment. He could see that Owen had a point? Why not go directly after me instead of Angel?

Both Cullen and Owen sat there for a while longer, both going over a few more things. After an hour or so, Cullen stood up and stretched.

"Angel should be coming back slowly by now, so I may meet her actually in the barn. Why don't you go and run off to Izzy. I'm sure she is waiting for you."

"Shit, you don't have to tell me twice," as Owen quickly stood up and was already practically running out of the office. He couldn't get the thought out of his head, of Izzy finally getting pregnant as well.

Owen did his rounds quickly, and made sure to bring up some snacks and drinks just in case it was needed. He already knew that both of them were not going to get much sleep tonight. Owen just hoped that he wouldn't scare Izzy with this whole topic of babies and pregnancy. He knew that they just mated, but if she would come into heat, there is no way that he would be able to stop himself. Perhaps it was time for him to explain a few more things to her. Owen couldn't help but think that someone should make a 'Were 101' book. It would have been so much simpler.

As Owen made his way to his room, he noticed right away that Izzy wasn't in there. He thought it was odd, but didn't put too much thought. He decided to get everything ready before she arrives. He did though decide to send her a little something; 'Hurry up little one. I have a surprise for you. Don't keep the wolf waiting too long.'

Owen went and turned down the bed, laying a red rose on the pillow for her. He popped the champagne bottle and poured some into the two flute glasses and set them on the nightstand. He looked around to make sure everything else looked good. And then a thought occurred to him. He quickly ripped off his shirt and messed his hair up a bit, to make it that 'messy-roll out of the bed' type of look that she seemed to like a lot.

Owen then went to sit on the bed, knowing that she will be up very soon. Izzy just loved surprises...

---------------------------------------

Cullen was just walking towards the barn, where he saw in the distance Angel coming back. Instead, he just continued to walk towards her, meeting up half way.

"Well well well. Look at what we have here Cadifor. A stray wolf," smirked Angel.

Cullen smiled. "I thought of coming to meet you. I have missed you," said Cullen, as he pulled her gently down from the horse. He noticed quickly, how she pressed herself against him as she was placed down on her feet. He couldn't help his growl of lust.

Angel just smiled innocently. "What's wrong?" asked Angel, as she stepped forward, making sure to press her breasts and now growing stomach against Cullen. She knew that he had this odd fascination about the now bump and always made him nice and hard right away.

"If I didn't know any better, I would have thought you to be a witch or a siren, or maybe even a seductress."

"Well, what if I told you that I could be all three," asked Angel sexily. Then a thought occurred and she took a step back. "Actually... we need to change that 'w' into a 'b' and then the term will be better suited. "

Cullen started to laugh. "You're not a bitch sweetie—even with your crazy hormones."

Smiling, Angel said, "Well if you want to get technical here, aren't I already one?"

Cullen smirked, "If you want to get technical with me sweetie, why don't we put the horses away, and I will show you what the Alpha does to his bitch."

Angel started to fan her face with her hands holding back the laughter. "Oh Cullen, you just know how to talk to a lady to sweep her off her feet."

Cullen growled deeply, pulling Angel closer to him, and kissing her deeply.

"Let's hurry back to drop off the horses, and I can further show you how I can sweep you off your feet"

----------------------------------

Owen couldn't stop the pacing now.

'Come to the bedroom right now,' Owen demanded to Isobel. He was all for fun and games. And if Isobel wanted to keep him frustrated and make him wait longer, she is doing a damn good job as it is.

After a while—nothing.

'Isobel? Sweetie?'

No response.

Owen quickly started to look around the suite. Thinking she may be hiding. But once he nearly destroyed the room, he quickly ran out of the bedroom and started to look for her.

He went to the kitchen, thinking she may be hungry or talking to a few of the women that would be cleaning it up—or preparing a few things for the next day. He quickly noted she wasn't in there. Owen even asked the ladies if they had seen her, but they shook their heads no.

"We haven't seen her since dinner Owen."

Owen thanked them, and decided to go to the lounge. Many times, there were pack members there either watching a movie or playing some sort of game. But when he arrived, the place was practically empty. He quickly turned and left, heading to one other place.

'Isobel! This isn't funny at all. Where are you?'

Owen arrived at the library. He knew that she had been working hard here many days prior. He almost kicked the double doors off the hinges. What welcomed him was a cold and dark room. Isobel hadn't been in this room for a while.

He didn't want to panic. He tried to keep a clear head, so that he would be able to think of other options. He was beta for a damn reason!! But Owen new this was nothing like before. This is his mate! He only had one option left.

'Cullen!'

-------------------------------

Both Cullen and Angel just arrived at the barn a few minutes ago. Angel couldn't help but smile at their ride back: Cullen had lifted Angel back up on the saddle, with him swinging up behind her. Of course there was only so much room with both of them on the saddle, but Angel made sure to press her ass even more against Cullen's throbbing hard-on. With the movement of the horse—plus Angel's own movement added—Cullen was in such a frenzy that he was about to push Angel forward on the horse and just shove her onto himself quickly. But Cullen withheld the temptation. He had other things planned for her.

'Just you wait Angel. You will get yours.'

Angel couldn't help giggle at the thought, as she went and retrieved the bag of treats while Cullen stayed outside the barn trying to adjust himself secretly.

"And what is so funny my dear?" asked Cullen through a growl? He was so damn hard that it was beyond understanding.

"Oh nothing Alpha. Just my little mind running away," answered Angel, as she made her way back outside to the horses. "Shouldn't we bring them in already Cullen so that we can go inside?"

"Yea, in a minute. Just need some fresh air to calm myself down," said Cullen, giving Angel a knowing glare.

"Aww is the big bad wolf losing his control?" taunted Angel.

Cullen once again growled, "Ill show you how big...," but was interrupted when he heard Owen through their connection.

'I'm outside near the barn Owen. What is it?'

'She is missing! I can't find Isobel anywhere.' Said Owen frantically.

'What? Are you sure?' asked Cullen. He looked over at Angel worriedly.

' I looked all over where she would have been, but she isn't anywhere and I even tried to call out to her, but she never responds.'

'Shit. Get your ass over here now.'

Cullen couldn't stop his own pacing now.

"Cullen? What's wrong?" asked Angel. She knew that he was probably talking with one of his betas, but something now has him all worked up and worried.

Cullen stopped and looked at her. He had no idea how he will be able to tell her this. He knew that he needs to think logically, that Isobel may be just somewhere else, but his gut instincts were telling him something else differently.

"Angel, there is something I need to tell you..." Angel waited. And waited. "Well?"

"I don't know how to even start... Let's quickly put the horses away into the barn first.

Angel nodded her head—already beginning to get really worried. Something really had to have upset Cullen.

As Cullen grabbed the reins of both of the horses, he felt Owen right behind them. Cullen and Angel made their way towards the barn, when all the sudden it hit him like a wall.

Cullen began to growl menacingly when he started to sniff right by the barn doors.

Owen just caught up to them, when all the sudden he heard Cullen growl.

"Cullen..?" asked Angel as she was about to make her way to him, but Owen quickly stopped her.

"Don't Angel. Look at him; he is in complete wolf mode. You can get hurt."

"Don't be freaking ridiculous! He could never hurt me."

'Cullen? Baby, what's wrong? You're beginning to scare me,' said Angel softly.

Hearing Angel's fear-tinged voice brought Cullen back slightly.

"Someone was here. On my territory!" said Cullen angrily.

Owen stepped forward, and was able to determine that Cullen was right. "I don't recognize the scent at all Cullen."

Cullen turned around and stared at Angel. "And you didn't even recognize it?! How could you not inform me that someone else was on my property?"

Angel stood there stunned. She began to shake her head to clear it, "Cullen I didn't know... how could I know? I don't know everyone's scent yet! " stated Angel loudly. She was close to tears because she had no idea what the hell was going on.

As soon as Cullen saw her eyes tearing up, he quickly wrapped her up in his arms. "Fucking hell, I am sorry love. " He held her for a moment longer, when he looked up at Owen giving him a knowing look.

"So those bastards have Isobel? Just wait until I rip their throats out," said Owen angrily, growling loudly—feeling his beast close to the surface.

"Wait what?!" demanded Angel. "Isobel is missing?" She asked, pulling out of Cullen's arms.

Owen walked up to Angel. "I'm so sorry Angel. I looked everywhere. I just can't find her anywhere inside the house."

Angel just stood there in shock.

"And now with the intruders scent, it kind of makes sense what happened," said Cullen, before continuing, "Whoever was behind this, was thinking to grab you Angel—since you always go for your night ride. But instead they grabbed Isobel."

Owen tried his hardest to stay calm. He knew that he had too in order to get his Isobel back home safely.

"I will go and start waking everyone up. We will have to have a pack meeting now," said Owen.

Cullen began to nod his head in agreement. "Alright. Let's begin to wake everyone up."

While both Cullen and Owen were talking, Angel still stood there in shock. She couldn't wrap her mind around that Isobel is missing. HER Isobel is missing. Someone took her damn sister! She began to growl threateningly.

"NO!" screamed Angel, stopping both of the guys.

"Angel, love, I know you are in shock, but please listen to me. We will get her back. We are going inside to have a meeting with the pack. We need to make a plan right away," explained Cullen as easily as possible.

All three of them were starting to leave the barn and head towards the house when all of the sudden Angel stopped.

"No. We are not."

Once again, both men stopped and looked at her confusingly.

"What do you mean no?" asked Cullen. "We don't have much time. We need to take action and get everything ready."

Angel once again shook her head. "Don't you see?"

When she saw that they both didn't understand, Angel sighed loudly.

"You both can be real idiots at times. Who ever took Isobel, thinks they have me. Right?"

"Yes, but they could ha..."

Angel interrupted Owen, "But nothing. They think they have me. Not many people besides our pack members had ever seen me. First, we need to see who is missing from our pack. It is obvious that whoever is behind this has extra outside help," explained Angel. "You both will continue on as you originally planned, but with a slight modification. You will not tell them that Isobel is missing, but instead you will tell them that I am the one that is missing. Let whoever is behind this, think that they have actually succeeded."

"If you think that I will let you..."

"Quite Cullen, and let me finish before interrupting me," said Angel.

Cullen was taken aback. For someone who always interrupted him, she is now telling him not to interrupt her? If it were a different reasoning why her alpha bitch side was coming out, it would have been comical.

"Now, as I was saying. You both will go in and tell them that I am missing. Cullen, since you will be so damn dreadfully worried," added Angel dramatically, "you will put a lock down. Why might you ask? That's a good question. You will put the place on lock down, because that means no one comes in and no one leaves. Do you see it now?"
