Hi everyone! My name is emeraldmbuku and this is my first submission. I usually edit, but since my Internet has been cut due to my dad's laziness, I've decided to write something. I hope you guys enjoy this as much as I've enjoyed writing this!

Chapter 1
Rating - E for Everyone
Eleanor Donaldson-Currie squatted like a giant toad. After spending twenty minutes waiting for her friend to finish work, she got caught up into reading anything and everything her eyes would land on. She couldn't help it; she was bored and in need of entertainment.
"Can I help you find anything, ma'am?" A male voice said behind her.
"No thank you. I'm just waiting for my slow poke of a friend to finish her shift." She turned to face him "Thank you, though." She remained in her squatted position, too embarrassed to stand up.
"My name is Caleb and if you need anything, I'll be behind the Geek Squad desk."
"Geek Squad? That's impressive."
"What's impressive is how you manage to try to flirt with every male you see when you're alone." She heard a familiar voice say. "Honestly Eleanor, what's wrong with you?"
"Jesus Sammy, what took you so long?" She said, crossing her fingers.
Ignoring her, Sam looked at her co-worker and switched subjects. "Caleb, are you coming to the Christmas party? I hear that there will be lots of women and lots of booze."
Eleanor looked at her friend disgusted. Thankfully Caleb didn't catch her.
"I don't know yet." He said whilst running his left hand through his long dirty blonde hair. Eleanor didn't mean to stare, but good God he had muscles. "I might not."
"You need to get out. Nina was not the one."
"Can we not talk about that?" He sadly whispered and Eleanor felt bad for him. Sammy needed to know when to mind her business.
"You should come, honestly. It'll be good for you and for the rest of us. We really worry about you."
"Thanks." He said looking down.
Eleanor now felt awkward. She didn't mean to listen, but she couldn't help but hear what they were saying.
"If anything you can go with Ellie here. She's fun..."
Eleanor's eyes widened as she heard her name being spoken in the not-so-private conversation. "Excuse me?"
"Christmas party. You're coming - look hot!"
Eleanor glared at her friend. "You know I have an exam. I'm not coming."
"Ouch." Caleb said, feign hurt.
Eleanor's eyes widened even more, making her blush from both nervousness and embarrassment. "I didn't mean it that way. I really have a history exam on Thursday at 9 o'clock! Look!" She said while reaching into her pocket to take out her black iPhone 4S. "See! Right here! History exam Thursday December 14th 2012 room 301." She pushed the gone closer to Caleb's face making him laugh.
"I believe you." The corners of his face revealed laugh lines and his perfect teeth made her blush even more.
"I have the same exam. Except I'm in room 304 because my last name starts with an S."
"Well good luck because there is no way in hell that you'll be able to make it into that room without breaking into a sweat." He laughed harder. "I swear you'd think we were a bunch of first years trying to study and eat at the same time."
Sam stared at her friend and co-worker interact with her as of they'd known each other prior. Maybe this could work, she thought.
"History is so disgusting. Why would anyone want to be a historian?"
"Because it's an amazing subject, Sammy. You wouldn't know because you have a calculator stuck up your ass all day."
"It's called math, imbecile and I can do it without a calculator, can you?"
"Why would I want to embarrass myself?"
Caleb laughed as he watched the two make faces at one another and argue. Eleanor looked like one of those girls he would usually see on Nina's blog. The ones who wore weird shaped pants and loose, colourful t-shirts. He'd always called them weird, but seeing Eleanor in the very clothing he criticized made her alluring to him.
"I'll be back." He heard Sam say. Her voice dragged him out of his reverie and he was soon stuck with her mysterious friend.
"Your pants are weird." Was all he could say.
"The weirder the better, Hun." She replied, smiling. He smiled too.
"I like them. They suit you."
"Thank you." She said, bowing her head to hide her red face.
Caleb could not stop looking at her. Her dark, almost burnt caramel skin looked so soft and smooth, like she bathed in oil every morning or evening, whenever she took a bath.
Her big brown eyes were protected by a an equally large pair of black and gold designer prescription glasses and her lips were adorned by a bright red lipstick. Her eyebrows weren't thick, but nice and shapely and her hair was in long single braids, he noticed that a lot of Black girls had donned this look.
Caleb opened his mouth to say something, but was interrupted by an angry woman. "Hurry up, we have places to be!" Sam shouted from across the store. Caleb remained wide mouthed and Eleanor laughed.
"I'll see you around. Good luck on the exam."
She walked away and he waved to her back.
