I kind of agree that running off didn't make him look too good.
And even though the boy wasn't his if he had a shred of character he would have felt something for the child, easy to love a child no matter who furnished the sperm. Now, the wife and the bestie, they would be toast. Sure, he wasn't able to stand up to the other man in a straight up fight. But that didn't make the other guy a better man, just a better fighter. And that is only in a fair fight. Always remember grasshopper, if you find yourself in a fair fight you failed to plan properly.
Also the fact that she was a wild slut during her bleed and a nothing in bed the other times meant that she was also fucking someone during her "dry" season and getting her bells rung more thoroughly.
