Richard could hear the hesitance in Lyn's response as she tried to not question their son too much but he felt the same way. If Nicholas left, they'd be losing their son...their child and while they'd known the day would eventually come when he gained a pack of his own, it was too soon.
"Nicholas, are you sure?" Richard asked, his voice breaking slightly at the end.
"I'm sure dad, mom," Nicholas responded as he looked solemnly at his parents.
"Very well then, I give you my blessing," Jonathan said, turning to look at Richard and Lyn briefly.
Richard wrapped an arm around Lyn as hers loosened around him. Dear God, they were losing both their children in one go.
