The person who greeted him wasn't what he expected at all.

Damien's gaze took in the woman in front of him and amazingly, he was interested in what he saw. A petite woman with dark chestnut hair that fell into waves down past her shoulders met his gaze with dark brown eyes. He took in her round face and full lips covered with a mocha colored gloss. She was wearing a black wrap around dress which reached mid-thigh; the waist cinched in and accentuated her hour glass figure and he couldn't help but gaze down at the peak-a-boo cleavage on display.

Shamelessly ogling a woman wasn't something that he had done in a while, but he continued to do so. Damien couldn't help but smile as a light blush covered her face. Almost as quickly as it appeared, she seemed to collect herself.

"Mr. Richards?" Her voice was slightly husky and her southern accent affected him more than he cared to admit. He even felt the tiny hairs on the nape of his neck stand to attention. Afraid that his voice would crack, he nodded in response. She smiled at him and her whole face lit up, "Good morning. I'm Denise McCarty."

He accepted her hand that she offered and cleared his throat, "Good morning, Ms. McCarty." Did he notice a hitch in her breathing as their hands touched? Did she feel the zing that he thought he felt? If she did, she recovered quickly.

"Denise, please. If you'll follow me to my office, we'll go over what you need for the retirement party for your colleague."

Reluctantly, Damien released her hand, "After you and please, call me Damien."

As she led him down the hall and to the left, Damien took in her body from the rear. The slight sway in her hips intrigued him. He could almost imagine gripping them while thrusting into her from behind. Damien rubbed the bridge of his nose as he thought to himself, damn, I need to get laid.

When Denise reached her office door, she stepped aside and waved him ahead of her. Damien couldn't help but be impressed by the set up. It was a rather large office, sectioned off in two sides. One side housed a table with four comfortable looking chairs around it and he noticed a file on the table along with several labeled binders. The other side of her office had several filing cabinets with a desk. On the desk he noticed a laptop and printer...and pictures of a little boy.

Damien groaned inwardly, nodded towards the pictures and asked, "Is that your son?"

"Yes. Michael is nine years old."

Damien was shocked. Denise looked to be in her mid-twenties. Without realizing he spoke his thoughts out loud, "You don't look old enough to have a nine year old son."

Her husky laugh shot straight through him, "Thank you."

Damien found himself trying to see her left hand. Relief washed through him as he noticed no evidence of a wedding ring. Wonder if she's single? He couldn't help but want to know and once again found his mouth speaking without his brain's consent, "Single parent?"

He could have sworn that he saw a wave a sadness fall across her features, but once again it was a fleeting thought since she recovered quickly. She shrugged her shoulders nonchalantly, "Yes. It works best for us that way." Damien found himself wanting to ask more questions, which was odd to say the least. As he was about to pry more into her life, she waved towards the table, "Please, have a seat. I know you are an extremely busy man. Sarah at Software Solutions had mentioned that you were just getting settled in at the company."

Diversion tactics from my prying, he thought to himself and couldn't help but smile, giving her credit for the smooth transition from an obviously touchy personal subject to the business matter for which he was there.

so far ....

So good. I really like this story. What there is so far its like real life and some stories don't have that factor. I'm no writer but enjoy a real romance. Keep it going.

You continue to surprise me...

I thought most of your stories were pretty soft-core; although extremely well written.

You DO have a little bit of 'hard-core' in you! Bravo! Keep the story coming! I'll be here, waiting for all the chapters!

Growl!!!
