Some words from swingerjoe:

A note to the readers:

I appreciate all of the feedback I receive, both supportive and critical. I respond to most of the e-mails I receive (as long as they are civil), so please feel free to contact me with a friendly greeting, helpful criticism, questions, complaints or (especially) heaps of praise.

I hope you enjoy reading my stories as much as I enjoy writing them.

Why I turn off the ratings for all of my LW stories:

Contrary to popular belief, it's not because I'm afraid of low ratings. All of my LW stories (except one) received an average rating above 4.0 before I shut off the feature.

I believe ratings can be helpful for new readers who are looking for quality writing. Unfortunately, the ratings in the Loving Wives section have absolutely nothing to do with the quality and content of the writing. A large segment of LW readers rate stories based solely on their perceived morality of the characters involved. The actual story itself is irrelevant.

Because of this, I decided to turn off all voting for all of my Loving Wives stories as a form of protest. I encourage other LW writers to do the same.

About my stories:

There is an oft-repeated word of advice for writers: "write what you know." Many of the stories I have written are based on real life experiences. Some are entirely true to life, others merely incorporate real-life events, and some are entirely fictional. I'll leave it to you to decide which are which.

A few observations about my stories:

-- With over 100 comments, "The Tale of Frank Vandenberg" now has more comments than any other story I've written except one. I would estimate that 99% of those comments are from people who hated the story and/or were confused by it. Honestly, the plot isn't all that difficult to follow. I suspect the BTB readers simply don't like the message of the story.

-- I recently re-read "The Third Revolution" for the first time since I posted it. I can't believe I actually wrote that story. I'm simply not that creative.

-- To my astonishment, "No More Room in the Basement" continues to be among my lowest-rated stories. For the life of me I can't figure out why, as it may be my favorite!

-- On the other hand, "A Winning Wager" now has a rating over 4.00, and has been viewed over 120,000 times! And that is, by far, my least favorite story of all those I've written.

-- With 193 comments (and counting), "Zero, Fifty, or One Hundred - the Alternate Ending" is the all-time leader. Like "The Tale of Frank Vandenberg", most of the readers who left comments hated the story, and most didn't understand my purpose for writing it. That's okay. I don't write these stories for anyone but me.
