My hands were both burned horribly when I was young. My brother and I were playing with some hydrocloric acid that my dad had in a bucket outside. We were melting my sister's Barbie dolls when our new kitten that was climbing on a shelf next to us got knocked in. The kitten was screaching this terrible, "MEEEUW!" My first instinct was the obvious to reach in and grab her out. It was fall and I had a knit sweater on and when I reached in and quickly pulled the sizzling kitten out my sweater was soaked to the elbows. So the end of the story went that the kitten had to be put to sleep, and when the bandages came off I had Freddy Kruger arms and hands. When I went to school, the other kids started to make fun of me, and called me Mr. Uglyhands. After a little while I got used to the name, and finally when I became an adult, I found it was a good name that people wouldn't soon forget. I still always wear gloves though. I just told that story because everyone on the internet can't see and so I'm asked quite frequently about my name. jz
