Meandering aimlessly
Down a winding path
Leading to nowhere in particular
Just kicking up autumn leaves
That would decompose
Become fire
That wouldn't warm me
Until that crossroads
Where the path straightened
And led me

To you
To love
To a lifetime of summer sunsets
And pale blue waters
That never ripple
That only reflect
The you and I of Us

That reflection
Blankets me in the warmth
That fire alone could not
And I find myself
Flying off
Into the space between us
Lighting stars with the
Passion in my heart
Riding meteors homeward

To you
To love
To an always
Painted in golden hues
Which illustrates
And emulates
The you and I of Us

The first stanza

perked my interest, but then slid into several cliches that dulled the shine... warming like a blanket and the pale blue water... kind of made something special into something nice, but ordinary...
