The world I roam in my sleep
Is a land of mists and shadows
And everything that appears to me
Is shaped of the stuff of dreams
Sometimes I walk
Sometimes I fly
And sometimes I just run
Sometimes something's hunting me
More often it's me who seeks.
My dreams get very odd at times
But true nightmares are few
And sometimes, though 'tis rare,
I know I'm in a dream.
I dream of strange adventures.
I dream of loves won and lost
I dream of the future, and of the past.
I dream of things I've always wanted to do
And I dream of the things I've done.
I dream of changes I would make.
And I dream of what can't be undone.
The land of mists and shadows,
That I visit every night, is a place
I treasure in my soul
And look forward to each day.
When I waken from my dreams,
They vanish whence they came.
Someday in the future
When I am old and gray
I'll enter the realm of dreams one last time.
And there I'll forever stay.
For now I will just visit that fabled
distant world and wander until the day.
So good night my friend
I wish you well
I pray that when you dream
You visit the land of mists and shadows
Seeing magic, and wonders in your sleep.
Brings me back to when I was younger and could think of some adventure to dream about just before falling asleep and them be able to live the adventure in my dreams. That was so much fun. Sounds like it's time for me to try that again - wish me luck!
one suggestion that you may find helpful (maybe not) is... well, here's an example:
An excerpt from your poem:
I know I'm in a dream.
I dream of strange adventures.
I dream of loves won and lost
I dream of the future, and of the past.
I dream of things I've always wanted to do
And I dream of the things I've done.
How about trying:
I know I'm in a dream.
I dream of strange adventures,
of loves won and lost.
I dream of the future, and of the past.
I dream of things I've always wanted to do
and of the things I've done.
It may help to get rid of an "I" or two.
Many of your "poems" are 1st person journal style writing like most of dcpoet44's, except of higher literary quality. You might want to try Bloging.
You have a fantastic way of taking your readers on a journey with you.
